1. O.M.G. Pete the Fish will be turning in his grave, bless him! If you like the neck I'd consider dark filler and have the markers moved.
2. How about a wooden end pin?
3. Thanks Andy Only just seen this
4. Peter has just hand delivered an item he had for sale How's that for service! Cheers Peter, good to see you again
5. Hi Peter That could be useful to me I'll have it off ya if I may
6. Thanks for the comments and offers guys. I can't really afford to buy one outright just now so I'll have to think about trading or selling some gear.
7. Bargain of the month! Is it too wet for you in North Wales Chris?
8. Yes I've seen that thanks Clarky I just don't want to mess Phil around if I didn't like it. I'd rather try one out then if I like it look for a trade, otherwise I'll end up with even more black boxes.
9.
Hello, I'm on the wrong side of the pond, or I'd for sure let you air mine out.
Hi, thanks for the offer Still looking to try before I buy
10.
I'm off to a new years do in Harrogate with a live band, the bassist better be sh*t hot, I'll be giving him the evil eye after all this!!! ;-)
Which do are you going to Rich? I'm doing a NYE gig in Harrogate.
11. I was viewing on my ipad, it didn't look too bad at first glance. Zooming in on the bottom shots (oo err!) it looks like a ply back. On second thoughts I'd give it a miss, although old it's been ruined and will never be worth much even if one spent a few hundred repairing it.
12. I heard about this bass a few months ago but forgot all about it. If I'd known it was on eBay sooner I could've popped over to check it out but it's too late now. It's had a bad refinish, looks like it was done with a bog brush, but if it sounds ok could be a good bass for £500
13. Some higher res pics including back, ribs, neck & scroll might help get some interest :-)
14.
I have a MIni CMD121P as well. Its a good quality, very easily transportable amp with decent EQ and gives a nice warm sound with a Full Circle but is slightly coloured. At the volumes my band plays this does not bother me, given the advantages. At lower volumes, Acoustic Image gives the most uncoloured 'true' representation of a DB in my opinion (I have the Ten2 combo) but I find it struggles and loses that clarity as the volume level rises (and its not that loud in any case). I had an EA Micro amp which also worked well and reminded me a lot of Acoustic Image. I think there will always be compromise with amplifying a DB, its just a question of finding the best compromise that works for you and your band. For me, thats the CMD121P and for lower volume gigs I have the MarkBass 2x8 combo, the new 802 model (which has no EQ section, just filters). TBH, the latter is a luxury as the 121P covers it all and is not that much bigger/heavier
I've been considering the CMD121P for sometime as a replacement for all my other amps. The one thing that puts me off is the yellow speaker, but someone on here has modified their's with a vintage speaker cloth, great idea! If you're getting a happy sound with it, save yourself some time, pain and money. Just keep on using it. Even if you have one of everything out there you'll never be able to pick the right one for every occasion or venue.
15. I've experienced too many amps to write about but I'd be happy to chat on the phone. Acoustic, Ampeg, Polytone, E.A., Acoustic Image, Genz Benz, Phil Jones, Markbass, G.K., Walter Woods, Bose to name but a few
16. Jeez, I cant be arsed reading all these posts I'd just like to mention that I've owned a 62 p bass for over 30 years It doesn't matter to me what it's worth cos it's not for sale
17. With some strings one can shave an inch or two of silk away as long as a dab of glue or nail varnish is applied to prevent further unravelling.
18. I've been using these for years in the house and on gigs. You just need some 22mm pipe wrap to protect the bass. Once yo've got the height and width adjusted they are very stable. They pack up flat and are inexpensive.
19. Wonder why you've sold your double bass type bump?
20. Bump Still looking to try one
21. If you're willing to have a go at fitting a bridge it's not too difficult. The hardest part is shaping the feet to the contour of the top, but I've developed a quick and easy method using Milliput. I recently bought a used Stentor with a poorly fitted warped bridge. I wanted to try a Full Circle on the bass and had various old bridges and feet already tapped with the correct thread. The feet I used required material to be added rather than removed. Hope the pics explain. And the bass sounds surprisingly good for it :-)
22. I've got one of these. It's one of the best sounding uprights I've owned (over 20) and it's easy to transport Great value for money
