  1. Hey folks! 😊 I appreciate it's a fairly unique pedal, but I just wondered if there's any (cheap) alternatives to the Amianto that are capable of a similar sound? I did search, but can't find much on this. Thanks, Oli
  2. Just spotted these whilst browsing Thomann's 70th anniversary sale, as far as I know this is the first and only Electra 5 string?! Also the first Electra's with J/MM config. Seems a great price for what it is, ebony fretboard too!
  3. I think the Z series look great, but I think there's a gap in between the two models... I'm really hoping they bring out a Z5, with the construction of the Z7 but single pickup and passive, in retro colours, Stingray Classic stylee
  4. I think it looks really cool, caught my eye on FB yesterday. Alas, I'd imagine it's neck-dive city....
  5. I think there's some confusion here, the standard matt finishes (trans kinda colours) are sprayed exactly as they look. Gloss finishes are as normal. The aged finishes are basically standard gloss which then go through a meticulous process of being scuffed, abraded, discoloured, knocked, etc to give the aged finish. Clearly there are different extremes to this, from the soft aged to masterpiece HCA. The soft aged ones will be less glossy than a standard gloss, with a few bits of wear. I think one of you is talking about the standard trans Matt finishes, and the other is talking about soft aged? 😅
  6. Nearly forgot, we had a young audience member who was a BIG fan of 'pinky' on Friday night, and asked if she could hold it. 😊 I'm pretty sure she was sober so was happy to oblige! 😅
  7. Oh mate, I hate it when things like that happen! Yeah, it's a paid practice, but it's not exactly enjoyable while you're doing it. We had one similar once, for a local football team. Huge function room, big stage, however the team had been playing away that day.... The gaffer insisted it would fill up in a bit... But it didn't... At the interval, we offered to take half the cash and go, but again he insisted 'everyone' was coming down in a bit. They didn't. We played the whole night to two bar staff and a bouncer. It was absolutely soul crushing 😅 Our drummer nearly packed it in for good after that, thankfully he didn't though!
  8. I may get shot down here, and it's not one of my favourite songs, but I've often used Sting's 'Englishman in New York' to test stereos etc, as I feel it's really well produced and familiar to people.
  9. Thanks Dave! 😊 That's the bass I built from scratch last year, definitely my number one! 😊👌
  10. Great gig at a local pub last night (The Monument, Hereford), it's really feeling great with the new band members! Loads of new songs in the set tonight, which was a bit nerve wracking at times, but we did well, the punters and ourselves thoroughly enjoyed it! 🥳👌 Bit of video here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/pb6bQLYfHM8vyfpp/
  11. Some better pics. Like I said, needs a little TLC, but feels inherently like a great bass! 😊👌
  12. Hey folks, just thought I'd mention here in case any of you Ibanez fans are interested, I'm selling my GAXB150. Pretty rare, only made for a few years, 32" scale and a DX4 humbucker. The quality of these far exceeded their modest price! Beautiful rosewood fretboard.
  13. Soooo.... I may have bought another BB from my favourite era tonight.... Needs some TLC, but feels and sounds great already! 👌 Will install my usual VBT loom at some point, and possibly a refinish. No hurry though! Btw, that's my cellar, not my living room 😅
  14. I think Sandberg are constantly stuck in the position of being very popular, but not wanting to majorly expand the business, as it would mean big investment and high risk, and may take away from their small-company, handcrafted ethos. It seems that waiting times are getting longer and longer as they struggle to build instruments fast enough for demand.
  15. How have I only just found out about this thread?! Very cool, hope to be able to come to some of your gigs! Our next one is at The Monument, Whitecross Road, Hereford this Friday.
  16. Hey folks! BBN5 Vs BB405; am I right in thinking that the only difference is a slightly smaller body shape on the 405 with a contour inside the lower horn? I think the necks, hardware and pickups are the same? Thanks 🙏
  17. We had a hilarious moment towards the end of our set on Saturday, we were playing Stacy's Mom, and the guitarist didn't realise he still had his expression pedal set to pitch shift. I could barely continue the song for laughing 🤣🤣🤣👌 VID-20240824-WA0006.mp4
  18. It's not a Yamaha, I built that bass from scratch last year, the shape is based on a Yamaha BBN5 though, good eyes! 😊
  19. I know it's supposed to be a good pedal, and just sound 'great', but I think these sort of issues are always going to be a risk with a comp that has so few controls (dyna-comp style). You can't specifically adjust the attack threshold or actual compression level. Have you tried turning the sustain right down, and gradually increasing until you hit the problem point? Just wondering if it'll work if you can keep it under that point? Good luck anyway 😊
  20. I used to use my zoom B3 for occasional effects, and separate pedals for drive/grit, distortion, compressor, tuner etc, but when I upgraded to the B2 Four earlier this year, I tried to pretty much do it all within that unit, because TBF it does have great drives and preamps. I've been struggling to get it exactly where I want it though, so I decided today to ditch my wah as I wasn't really using it, and bring the MXR Bass DI+ back on. HOLY FUDGE I never should have taken it off in the first place! It sounds so good for my needs, and seems to work incredibly with my Buddha Chakra compressor. Using the clean channel as a clean boost is an added bonus too. Very happy with my sound today, and it won't be leaving my board again!
  21. Bit of an unusual weekend for us, had a charity fundraiser at Hereford rugby club last night, which was early evening (7-9), and then today a 3-4 slot at a family festival at Pearl Lake Holiday Park, Shobdon, Herefordshire. Both really enjoyable, and nice to not be home late at night! The best thing was that the kids got to come and see us for a change! 😊
  22. I didn't even think to look at presets 🤦🤦🤦🤣 Will check it out, thanks!
  23. Hey folks! I don't know if anyone here can help me? My band have just started doing Plug in Baby by Muse, and I'm trying to get an adequate effects patch built in my B2 Four. I've got pretty close, but just not quite there.... Any advice welcome! Not sure if any of you have experimented and successfully gotten near the thousands of pounds worth of effects that Chris uses 😅 So far I have an Octaver, Envelope, drive and fuzz, plus a noise gate at the end. Thanks!
  24. Thanks Bill, I was eyeballing some stuff from Dunelm! 😅
  25. Oh, and I concur; 8" cab build would be super cool! 😎 👌
