Well, none of ours seem to have been cancelled yet. We have a pub gig on Friday and the owners are still keen for us to go ahead (desperate to bring the punters in I think!). We've got a 40th the weekend after and a pub gig I think and various others over the next couple of months. I'm sure some if not all will be cancelled. I'm agonising over whether WE should cancel next Fridays gig though.... I've been banging on about how much we can all do to reduce the spread of this virus, limit the severity, and ultimately reduce associated deaths, and the strain on the NHS. To do this, as well as good hygiene, we all need to be limiting non-essential social interactions as much as we can: and I feel gigs fall into this category; it's not essential, it's entertainment. So I kinda feel I have a social responsibility to cancel all upcoming gigs...... I feel for the guys that rely on it for a living (my wife is a self employed vocal coach), and as painful as it may be, the more we can do now to reduce the spread and severity, the easier it will be for the NHS to deal with, and the sooner we'll be past it. I know people want to get out there and earn money, but the less action we take now, the longer period of restrictions we'll be looking at in my opinion. It's just so hard to know what to do right now, and I don't think the government are giving everyone the right/quick enough guidance. 'keep calm and carry on' isn't gonna cut it IMHO.....

There's definitely some difference, the Alnico V pickups in the newer series have a much cosier, organic tone to them than the ceramic ones in the 41x/42x ranges. That said, they're still pretty hot! But by adjusting pickup height you could probably ease the output off a bit.

Chrome knobs are the problem (๐คฎ), that's why I've requested black ones. ๐๐
-
Can't seem to find 5 string cream covers anywhere! Plus I think the covers are fixed on the pickups..... ๐
-
@Teebs dammit..... Does look nice!
-
Yeah..... I had some on a bass a couple of years ago though and wasn't so keen..... Maybe I'll think on it though, depends what the up-charge is. ๐
-
So the original spec, but with black knobs? I don't want blocks though
-
You're probably right! I kinda feel like the two tone option still looks classic, but a bit more funky and individual in a way? Thanks anyway. ๐๐

Hi folks, So, I have a new Sandberg on order, due in June. I was set on the finish, as below but with black knobs : However, my rhythm guitarist has a fender jag that I really love the colour scheme on, looks kinda funky and two - tone with the cream pickups and knobs: So then I got to thinking whether I could source some alternative knobs, ask for the white pickups instead of black, and go for a black control plate instead of chrome..... Did some low quality photo editing and came up with this : Really like it! But I'm still a little undecided.... Which do you guys like best, the original spec or the pimped two-tone version? For reference, the sandberg cream finish looks more like this in the flesh: Thanks for your help! ๐๐

I'm sure it's been spotted already, but there's a blank 425 on ebay if anyone's on the lookout for one. ๐

Got a gig tonight (outdoors! ๐ฌ) and I'm really tempted to use the old BBN5. I bought it as a backup, and I've never actually gigged it yet! Play it all the time at home though, and it feels and sounds lovely.

Think we need to petition Yamaha! I agree @Baceface, although I really like the current BB styling, the colour choice is exceptionally bland and uninspired.
-
I'd be happy with just dots, but yeah, definitely plain headstocks! A bass version of those pacificas basically.
-
I'm REALLY wishing that Yamaha would do BB's or an inexpensive attitude style bass in the same colours as the new pacificas! INCLUDING 5 strings with maple fretboards! Love the pink and the grey best ๐๐
-
I've gone the opposite way; after years of playing active basses I've recently decided I prefer passive! Lovely basses BTW!
-
Ah okay thanks! Other than that though, there doesn't seem to be much difference?
-
Don't know if anyone knows the answer to this, but other than the finishes, was there any actual difference between the BBN5 and BB405?
-
Love this video, great playing!

There's a 435 with a maple board!? How did I miss that coming out! Would've much preferred a maple board! ๐คฆโโ๏ธ

I'm really hoping that my new Sandberg is going to fosters all over my 435 when it arrives in June, but not feeling overly confident that will be the case (as much as I LOVE Sandberg!).... ๐ฌ

The sunburst and black ones both look a bit boring for my tastes, so teal blue was the best option for me, mismatched headstock or not. Personally I think it looks fine! ๐
-
I'm quite happy with it on my teal blue, but I personally think they should've just left the headstock natural as per the 42x series, makes more sense for different colours.
