  1. I'd love a BB2005, but they don't seem to come up very often....
  2. Well, after all this, I've ended up looking at a 5 string J! πŸ˜‚
  3. 😍😍😍 That's gorge! The spacing always looks super tight on these though?
  4. Yes Steve... 😭
  5. Hi folks! This bass is just incredible, probably my favourite ever, but I've had a bit of a change of direction and it needs a new home. This was my second sandberg custom build, built around 2013/14. It's very lightweight and ergonomic, very balanced tonally, versatile, and features that incredible sandberg neck feel! I upgraded to a swamp ash body which not only looks stunning (pics don't do it justice!), but it's incredibly lightweight at around 3.7kg, and it works exceptionally tone - wise with the maple fretboard. I also upgraded to a 3 band eq (these models normally come with 2 band). The natural headstock was also an upgrade, as these would come with a black one as standard. It is actually a veneer with a black accent layer in between. Specs : Swamp ash body with matt cherry sunburst finish Maple neck and fretboard Natural headstock Black hardware 2x dual coil soapbars 3 band Glockenklang eq with true passive bypass and passive tone control Comes with original sandberg gigbag There are a couple of very minor dings in the body, I can attempt to photograph these if you like. No trades sorry. If you're nearby, you're more than welcome to come and try! Thanks for looking! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
  6. Hi folks! Tis with a heavy heart I am advertising my first Sandberg custom build! This incredible bass was built for me in 2011/12 from memory, and has served me well. The ebony fretboard was a substantial upcharge, but is by far the nicest I've ever played. Really comfortable to play, very balanced across the tonal spectrum, hugely versatile, and of course THAT sandberg neck feel! Specs: Alder body with virgin white high gloss finish Maple neck, ebony fretboard Matched headstock Sandberg power humbuckers x2 with coil split switch (outer coils) 3 band Glockenklang eq with true passive bypass and passive tone control Comes with original sandberg gigbag Not looking for any trades sorry. Welcome to come and try it out if you're in the area πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ Thanks for looking!
  7. Vanderkley now sold, but the fantastic Aguilar AG700 is still available! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
  8. I do love the look of the schecters, and by all accounts they're superb, but I just couldn't go back to 35" scale I don't think.
  9. I've found with my BB that rolling the bridge pickup off a little gives you predominantly 'that' P bass sound, but you still get just enough bite from the bridge pickup to add definition to the B string.
  10. Vanderkley sold pending collection /payment, Aguilar still currently available. Thanks
  11. In my experience, you need the P pickup to be normal orientation if you want to be able to nail that classic sound, but as long as you've also got a bridge pickup, you can dial in a nice tight sounding B. I love the look of the DE Jackson, it's perfect, apart from the 35"scale for me, I just don't like that extra length these days. If I'm being completely honest with myself, the only reason I'm looking at something else is purely aesthetics.... The BB435 is absolutely perfect and feels /sounds like a bass 3-4 times the price. But... I do love a maple fretboard, and something that looks like the sandberg I posted above would tick all the boxes. But maybe I just need to get over my vanity and stock with the BB! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
  12. Oooh, very nice! Do they do a 5 string? Asking for a friend..... 😏
  13. Thanks, that's already on my radar, I've asked Sandberg if they can do a non-reverse P, and they can! TBF their VS models have a non-reverse P. I'm also looking at going passive VVT instead of the preamp. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
  14. Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I do like the look of the Sires, but I wanted a passive bass really, and the preamp on those looks especially overcomplicated. Part of my issue is that although I love my Yamaha, I'd love something with a maple board and more colour options.... I find myself looking at yet another sandberg, even though it'll be a bit more pricy. I'm just not sure it'll give me the 'traditional' tone I'm after.... But it would look and play great!
  15. Hi folks, just to update you that this is now still available. Thanks
  16. Hi folks! Been looking recently for a 5 string PJ without paying to much (say under Β£1k), and aside from Yammy BB's (which I already have) there doesn't seem to be much on the market.... Just wondered if I've missed anything, any suggestions? Thanks! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
  17. Those colours are REALLY drawing me towards the Sires! 😍 Wish they did the burgundy with a maple board too though.
  18. Hi Pete, I should know later in the week. I've had a lot of enquiries, so will endeavour to keep everyone in the loop. πŸ‘
  19. Pm'd you πŸ‘
  20. That's really nice! I already have A Yamaha/Hiscox case I bought for a Yamaha bass I had years ago, now using it for my new BB!
  21. Hi there, there is somebody interested in both who may be coming this weekend, but I will let you know if it's still available. πŸ‘
  22. Similar to me really, after my recent encounter with a Fender Player Series Jaguar, I realised that a passive P/PJ sound worked way better with my band, than the active, humbucking basses I have been using. But I missed the B string, which is why I returned and ended up buying the 435. These new alnico pickups definitely help achieve that traditional P bass tone with the neck pickup soloed. Even with bright strings and the tone rolled back, it's definitely there. Got that real mid range presence, warmth but clarity. As the 235 has ceramic pickups (like your 425), I would imagine it would sound quite so 'traditional' and will inherently sound a touch more scooped and modern (though not excessively so). It depends how much you want that classic tone I guess. I seriously think the 435 is worth the extra over the 235 though, I'd say the pickups are worth that alone, but then there's the other benefits too! Whatever you decide, it'll be a great instrument, but I suppose you just need to figure out what's most important to you, and whether you feel that's worth the money or not. 😊
  23. Yeah a good point, pickups are subjective. I was never a big fan of the ceramic pickups in the 41x/42x series, but I love these new alnico V ones, they sound like really high end pickups, really tonally balanced, and great output! The next guy might not like them compared to the older ones. As a guy I used to work for often said, "one man's coq au vin is another man's chicken in a basket!"
  24. Thanks hun X 😘
  25. Ah okay, pretty much guaranteed to fit then! Where did you get it from?
