Hey Guys, Selling my MXR M80 Bass D.I.+ as I no longer have a need for it. It's in excellent condition with the box and manual. Price includes UK Mainland P&P. A really great DI box, preamp and distortion pedal (with basically two channels) all rolled into one, with a noise gate too. These things are built like tanks! Unbelievably good basses for no money at all, and easily mod-able. I always wish they did a 5-string version of these, I prefer them to the RBX37x range. Anyways, GLWTS. -

Why am I selling it? Well, after thinking I was completely GAS free, I now have serious GAS for another Sandberg[/font][/color][color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif] [/font][/color][color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif] Custom Build [/font][/color] [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]This bass features an Alder body, Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard and is finished in Highgloss black. There is a mini toggle switch to split the dual humbuckers to single coil and a 3-band Glo[/font][/color]ckenk[color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]lang EQ with push/pull volume pot for true passive bypass.[/font][/color] [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]Those who know me will know that I'm a massive[/font][/color] Sandberg[color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif] fan anyway, but I really can't stress how great these basses are. Such good value for a handbuilt bass, with a finish, playability and sound quality that far outstrips some of the big brands. The neck is slim front-to-back and the fretboard has a fairly flat radius, feeling fast and effortless to play, but very comfortable. It was the feel of the neck that really sold me on [/font][/color][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]Sandberg[/font][color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif] basses! This Alder bodied version is lighter than the Ash equivalents, and has a slightly more rounded tone, with a bit more low-mid growl and a less aggressive top and bottom end, but it still packs a punch and growls nicely. Versatility is the name of the game with this bass, and I've easily been able to coax any type of tone I've wanted out of it, it really does sound amazing. I didn't used to get on with 34" scale 5ers, but the low B is absolutely perfect on this (IMHO of course). It's currently strung with .040" - .125" D'addario Prosteels and the action is fairly low.[/font][/color] [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]It's in very good condition, with only a slight blemish on the forearm contour, but really nothing to write home about. Obviously if you look closely there is some light scratching on the surface as you'd expect with a gloss black bass. It feels nicely played in, but it has been very well looked after, with virtually no visible fretwear.[/font][/color] [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]Last year the UK RRP was £1441, although I think there's been a price rise since then, and Thomann have a 4 string currently for £1179.75, so a 5er would probably be £50-£100 more from them. Wow! Just emailed BassMods with a few questions, and they replied within minutes! I've got GAS bad, need to try and sell some stuff... Still can't choose which colour! -
For some reason, I've got serious gas for something in a burst, with a maple neck (5er of course). As I like the playability of Sandberg Basics so much, my head tells me it would be either a Basic or Basic VM, but I do really like the look of those Bass Mods K5s..... 35" scale is the only issue for me though.

Awesome man, looks gorgeous and plays beautifully too from your description! Definitely got GAS for one, just no money or justification for getting one! How you enjoy it man! Now, do I go for blue or sunburst......

Used to have an ATK300IPT, but in the end it was just too heavy and chunky necked for me. Awesome basses though and sound great. I was doga pro panto one year, and the sound guy said if sounded way better FOH than either my USA Jazz or yamaha TRB!

I do usually prefer rosewood (or ebony) fretboards, but I've had gas for a maple board for ages now. The other trouble is that I don't know if the whole thing would look a bit bling for me. You know when you like the look of something but don't know if it would suit you? The other issue (again) is that I really love the black one, but I just think it looks maybe a bit boring. My band mates and wife say it looks cool, and rightly point out that it would fit in in any situation pretty much..... Just need to win the lottery, then I can order several!

That bass changed everything for me, I never thought I would find something that suited me so well. It began my love affair with sandberg (I've had 5 now), and led to me selling everything else! Glad you're enjoying it, and even though you say you're not doing it justice, having an instrument that you enjoy and feels great week inspire you to play more and improve yourself more than anything else! Glad it's stayed within the BC community!

I loved that bass, my first Sandberg. If I hadn't moved permanently to 5ers I would've never parted with it.... In fact, that's been another consideration for a new bass: exactly the same but a 5er! How are you enjoying it?
