1.
No love for Zebra Voodoo with black hardware?
Wow, that's nice! My existing KT is Black though, so I fancied something a bit more colourful. I love some of the coloured zebra finishes, but I don't think they would suit most situations.
 2.
Sounds great, punchy, clean but really warm too. Has a great slap tone. I normally prefer passive given the option but this one sounds much better in active mode.
I think that's the thing, the Glockenklang preamps are so transparent and the frequency selection is spot on. They are very natural sounding, and with the tone controls centered there's no difference in tone or volume between active and passive.
 3.
Please do . I like polls! And yep, this thing is just great. I'm selling on some of my basses because of this (need to hold off on one due to tour commitments). It's that good. The neck just feels right in my hands . After today's band practice words cannot say how happy a camper I am .
Alteady done dude! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/176753-help-me-choose-a-colour/ Yer bass looks awesome by the way! I had a blackburst Cali PM 4 last year and it was awesome, just didn't feel quite as good in my hands as a Basic. They are all incredible instruments, and when you think that you can order one to your spec for less than the price of a US Fender, it's a no brainer! I ended up selling everything else after I got my first one, I've been 100% Sandberg (main basses anyway) since November or December. I've had 4 in the last year! Now I've established which one works for me best, I'm aiming just to have two of those, and that's it! Really couldn't imagine going back to Fender......
 4.
Cherry Sunburst with Maple neck for me. Get the white pearl inlays though. Its not gonna cost much extra and they look the business on the maple neck.
Can you remember how much extra they were? Do you think they would work on a Ken Taylor? I've been speaking to the guys from Session Music on your recommendation! How was your experience with them overall?
 5.
Fairplay. The redbursts do look stunning but to be fair most of their finishes do imo. Pics when she arrives fella
Yep, I don't think they make any bad basses! It's gonna be a long 12 weeks wait once I decide, although I need someone to buy my Greenburst Basic 4 before I pay the balance!
 6. I'm no Spector expert, but it looks like one of the far eastern ones, a bit like the current performer series.
 7.
You forgot the black/mirror scratch plate option?
Eh?
 8.
I voted white... It looks absolutely stunning in that pic
I have always had a soft spot for white basses.......
 9.
So happy for you right now dude I saw the cherry sunburst in PMT in Manchester, just the Basic but it was a beautiful bass, Really gorgeous finish. I voted for this with black hardware. Also the blueburst is to die for haha. Are you having inlays?
Interesting, I've never seen one in the flesh but they look good in pics! I think that's about the only matt finish that attracts me at the moment. I want something quite bright as my other KT5 is black. If I just played in a metal band still, I would go violet burst with black hardware fo' sho'. Not getting inlays, don't think it looks right on the Basic shape personally, and this is going to be stretching my budget anyway without extras!
 10.
If there's the option, I'd go; white, matching headstock, maple fretboard, black hardware...mmmmmmm But then I may just have to force you to sell it to me
Actually, I should've mentioned that the Virgin White High Gloss comes with a matching headstock as standard. Not sure about a maple board on that one personally, unless I could have white pickup covers and chrome hardware too and go for a proper pimp bass!
 11. Bumparooney! Had a little play on it this afternoon, and it's just amazing! I've been trying not to get it out so that I don't get too sad about selling both of them......
 12. Hmmmm cherry sunburst/maple winning...... Still just a bit concerned about weight.....
 13.
I'd personally go with spalted maple, I absolutely love the look of spalted maple basses. Dan
Come on Dan, play the game! If I was going for a bling bling bass, I quite like the Imbuia one....
 14. Thanks for the responses so far guys! No clear winner at the moment though......
 15.
Just from an aesthetic point of view I like the contrast of the burst with maple. I often feel that solid colours tend to become a boring fast and that burst finishes always seem fresh and intersting. Tone wise you can always sort out any nuances you're fond of with the eq. Having said all this it's not my bass.
Not your bass but I am asking your opinion! I was dead set on cherry and maple for ages, but then some doubts started to creep in...... Would look good though I reckon!
 16. http://www.sandberg-guitars.de/basscat-overview/basic-series-top If you scroll down to the Ken Taylor and click on gallery, there's a pic of a 4 string Virgin White, and a 5 string Cherry Sunburst with a maple board although it's got chrome hardware and a black headstock. It'll give you some idea though.
 17. Okay, so I'm about ready to order my new Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5, but I can't decide what finish to go for. This is going to be my "forever" bass (Iknow, I know... ) so I want it to fit in wherever, whether it's with a rock band or the local soul choir I play with sometimes. I should just mention that the Cherry Sunburst is a matt finish on an Ash body, and the Virgin White High Gloss is on an Alder body. My current KT5 is Alder, and seems to be lighter and have a more rounded, less aggressive tone than my Ash bodied Basic 4. I am notoriously indecisive amongst my friends and family, and your input would be much appreciated! Thanks for your help!
 18. Glad you guys are both enjoying your Sandbergs! That looks lovely Greg, gotta be about the best colour choice for a California T IMO. Ash, that's exactly how I felt when I got my first Sandberg; the necks are so good that your playing seems to improve because there's nothing inhibiting your playing. I've said it before loads of times, but I ended up selling my old faithful Fender Jazz after I got my first 'Berg, because the Jazz just felt really awkward and cumbersome to play in comparison! Any pics of yours Ash? PrimeBass has just been converted to the ways of Sandberg too after buying my natural Basic 4; he's totally blown away with it! Just need to decide what colour to order my new KT5 in now......... down to a choice of 3, but I am notoriously indecisive! Might have to start a poll.......
 19.
Just got my natural sandberg basic of TRBboy (Oli) excellent chap and the bass itself is just as excellent. Really pleased with it, and I would dare say better than majority of Stingray's I've had and tried. finish is superb and the neck is excellently shaped, no cricket bat. It's everything I wanted and more, I didn't even think it but after playing it an hour straight it reminds me of all the positives of Warwick and all the Positives of a Stingray, but no negatives. The natural one is extremely light, (8lbs) and is very well balanced. £550 for the greenburst? if you are thinking about having it stop and have it, especially if you love EBMM basses and Warwick basses.
Thanks man, I'm glad you're loving it so much! They really are excellent and IMHO beat the pants off a lot of the big brands. Glad I'm spreading the Sandberg love....
 20. Bump! Natural one gone, but greenburst still available!
 21. Stephen just bought my beloved Sandberg Basic 4. He is great guy, excellent communication, and was very patient when I had some unforeseen "stuff" going on and had to delay our transaction. Prompt payment too. Deal with confidence!
 22. Hi Colin, did you get the last pm I sent you the other day?
 23.
Oli is a fantastic chap and even while he is going through a diffidult period he still has found time and put the effort in to completing a deal with me. Can't wait to get my hands on the Sandberg. bumpage
Thanks for that dude! Just hope someone buys the greenburst now so that I can pay for my dream Sandberg! They genuinely superb basses, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I am quite sad to see it go....
