2. Folk were asking me how it went, and I was saying stuff like "it was great, but..." or "Didn't feel like 3 hours, but.." and then I realised what had been bothering me was the lights. Not the lasers or the pyro's or the suspended 'things', but the basic light show. Like when they crashed into a big chorus, the lighting just didn't seem equally dynamic or sympathetic... Having said that, it's only the last couple of years that I've really got into Rush, and they played a ton of stuff that I absolutely love. Biggest problem of the night, however... I now want a Les Paul with a Floyd..!
3. Acidplanet.com gives you a free version of Acid (Acid Express) - http://www.acidplanet.com/tools/?p=acid&T=9184 - and every week they give you '8 Packs'. These are collections of loops from their Pro Collections. If you have the patience to go thru the back catalog, you can pick up lots of (very) varied percussion & drum loops. Let us know how you get on, eh?
4. I watched that open-mouthed. WTF were these numbnuts thinking..?!
5. An Epi, but what model. A Crestwood or Newport, perhaps..? Kots
6. Hey Lorne, not so long time (we 'spoke' yesterday on the BCR forum...) Anyway, get them pix posted here and listen out for the drooling. KotS
7. I picked up the Level 42 Essential Collection (2 CD Greatest Hits Live, kinda thing) for £1 at Tesco a few months ago. Not expecting much, but it does get the occasional listen. The 'Solo' thing (Mr Pink..?) was a real eye opener..!
8. Dunno 'bout the bass, but I have a Variax 600 g*itar and it's feckin awesome. So it doesn't sound exactly like the real thing, but when the 'real thing' that it's modelled on is a '55 Strat or a '58 LP and the Vax costs £400 it's close enough. I finally bought mine after A-B'ing a friends using the 335 model against my Washburn HB-35. The only differences - the Vax was easier to play, quieter and worked 'better' with FX. Since then I've had the opportunity to compare it with an LP Standard, LP Junior & Strat, and in a blind test, in the context of a mix, it's almost impossible to tell apart. Never used it live as yet, but in the studio I choose it over my Godin LGX more & more often these days. As far as the guage, quality of strings etc, yes they have an effect as they would on any instrument. And reliability..? No problems on that score in any way shape or form. 'Wait a minute, HB-35, LGX & Vax..? I reckon this guys a GUITARIST..!?' Anyway, perhaps not totally relevant but there you go... You gonna let us know what you do..?
9. This do..? Gary Sinise giving it some.
