1. Interesting. Thanks for that, I'll give it a go.
2. ...be a supporting member to give a bass away for free on here? Don't really wanna renew my subscription for that, as I'd be losing money. I will of course renew it for selling things, when I can afford to.
3. Interesting. And if I can, which way would I turn the nut to take it off?
4. Nice bass, but I'd pass. I doubt it's worth £900, but even if it was, you'd have a hard time selling it. Tell him you want the cash he owes you, not goods to the (possible) value of... EDIT: spelling.
5. And what a disappointment. Bought a used tanglewood elfin 30" bass from gumtree as I'd been after a short scale p bass for a while, my parents picked it up for me about a month ago. So I went over today and got it, noticed the neck has a little bit too much relief for my liking. Stick an Allen key in there, just turned immediately with almost no resistance. Thought I might have the wrong size so tried the next one up. Too big. Had a look in the hole... Guess what? The nut is rounded out. I'm guessing this cute little bass is pretty much firewood now then, unless someone can recommend anything free to try out? I'm pretty annoyed. Have informed the seller that there was a problem and I'm not happy, but of course, being gumtree, there's jack all I can do.
6. Might have more luck posting this in the wanted forum
7. I can't stand U2. That's all I have to say on that. I do like the ramones though, and that p bass is hawt. But, exactly the same as the squier matt freeman sig. What's the point in that? The mf is a reallllly great bass.
8.
Nickels are quite a bit warmer than stainless steels. I use D'Addario EXL's.
I also use these. Warm nickel rounds but with a bit of snap when needed
9. I used to own that very bass! Congrats, she's a good one
10.
Another vote for legacy here. Great strings.
Are they really on a par with Rotosound? I've heard really mixed reviews about them, some glowing of course but some have said that they dull quickly and are really high tension. Would be great to have a mini review from a couple of users.
11.
Still can't decide between Matte black, black pearl or white pearl. As for hardware I'm torn between chrome and black.
Hardware has to be chrome! and black pickguard. IMHO of course
12.
Here's my '63 relic:
13.
I think you'll find it is acceptable on BC to be a pedalophile though.
I totally just misread that
14.
It's a soft wood though, very easily dinged.
Meh. I buy my basses to play them. I realise others are more concerned about aesthetics though.
15. I like PMT and I like ibanez basses Local mom and pop music store has one of these, but there were some QC issues. I've played others like it that were great basses though! Happy NBD
16. I use D'Addario nickels, they last me ages on one set. If elixir made short scale strings though, I'd be all over that. Last set of those I had on my old long scale were on for about 18 months, and were still bright. When I finally changed them, I wondered why because the new ones sounded the same
17. I've never seen the problem with basswood. Sounds great, isn't too heavy, keeps the price down, what's not to like?
18.
Oh come on, what? I've read it scores of times and I'm getting pretty fed up of it. Gibson neck dive this, spontaneous headstock ejection that, all Gibson basses are crap etc, ad nauseum. Har-de-har-har - I'm paraphrasing while splitting my sides here.
What I mean is that it was hardly a sly dig. The guy was expressing an opinion, whilst making a joke. Folks get way too precious about stuff these days. If Gibson basses were crap the company wouldn't have made so much money, besides that not even being what he said.
19. ^ oh come on!
20.
Ah, no, I didn't know what one was, but I do now. I shall take more care to choose my self-derisive words more carefully in future. I am certainly *not* one of those! Ewwwww
Gave me a chuckle anyway My answer is, you can't go wrong with either a j or a p, but I myself prefer the j (at the moment) mainly because it seems a bit more aggressive. If that makes sense. Interpol52 pretty much has it spot on though.
21.
I feel like such a nonce for even asking
Ermmm... you know what one of those is, right? Pretty sure not knowing the difference between a P and a J bass doesn't make you one! EDIT: stupid autocorrect
22. Awesome! Nice job Andy, and that's a seriously cool bass, never seen one before!
23.
Hi again, Evil Undead I don't know if you've also seen the recent Westone thread I also did for Paul. Thought about you when I was working on it - just your kind of bass...top class. Andy
I haven't but I'm off to investigate
24. Nice I've always been a fan of your stuff Andy!
25. That looks way cooler. I wonder what it would look like with black tape over the stripes to make those black too.
