1. I've also got hand and wrist troubles, and find that Ibanez Soundgears work for me, so if that's the model that you have on the way then that might work.
2. I have three full sets I can send. Does it matter that they're not in the right packaging and I don't know what brand they are?
3.
ooo nice P and whats the 5 string?
Looks like a Spector Euro 5LX. Correct me if I'm wrong Rhys! Very nice, both of them
4. Ok, it's a no to the bike I just thought it would be easier, cheaper, etc. I do have a car license, but cars are a pain in the arse haha!
5.
Dave Hall does a great valve pedal that does everything you want - mp3 input, headphones out, DI. The headphone out is too noisy to be used on mine, though. Otherwise, I would look into a Line 6 POD which (if it has an mp3 input...I'm not sure) seems to tick all your boxes. I use a rack one in my home studio and love it. There is a rather large thread about them on here at the mo.
Headphone out isn't vital, as I do have my ashdown after eight for that. Never heard of dave hall, I'll look it up. Thanks Line 6 pod could be worth looking in to. Do you happen to have a link to the thread, might be an interesting read?
6.
If you have a car licence but no car you could get a trike would not cost tons more than a scooter/small bike also carrying a bass etc etc on a scooter can be classed as a hazardous load by some insurance companys I know this sounds pathetic but this happened to my mate was carrying his snooker cue sling style on his back he and to cut a long story short he had a bump and got no payout as he was deemed to have an unsecured loan.So might be worth thinking about this if you have an expensive bass. As for the DI box etc sorry I dont know. Good luck with this
Oh, really? Yikes. A trike sounds fun though haha! Definitely worth looking into.
7. I am currently bandless, but looking. In the mean time, I thought I might hit up a few jams and open mics for a bit of a laugh, some experience, and to meet some other people who enjoy playing music, maybe make some contacts. As I don't have a car, and am thinking about doing my CBT and getting a 125, I'm considering going ampless. Bass on back, no cabs, bliss So I guess I need a DI box. But which one? Active, passive, what? I've been reading stuff, watching YouTube videos, and I don't think I'm any less confused. What do I need for just plugging into the PA, using an active 4 string bass with a 9V preamp? If I can use it as a headphone amp, and also has an aux in for MP3, even better! Please let me have your thoughts, and be as simple as possible, I'm stupid. Thanks
8.
Makes me a bit nervy all this Ibby QC problems, i did notice the one im looking at neck pocket looks like it was made with a Stanley knife,. is it enough to put me off though, im not sure!
I must say I'm really surprised to hear of the QC problems given in this thread as it's the first I've heard of it. Every Ibanez bass I've played has been absolutely spot on. I hope this isn't a sign of them going down hill
9. Never met him but I'd love to. Seems like an awesome dude. Get well soon.
10. I've been a confirmed Fender girl for ages, but picked up an SR600 for a decent price recently. Really enjoyed the versatility that I didn't realise I'd been missing from my Precisions, plus the neck is a much better size for my stupid small girl hands. It's a great bass. 2 piece ash body with a nice grain, 7.2lbs, sounds amazing, really well built, frets are perfect, action is super low... couldn't ask for more for the price. Oh except one thing... it's so light that it's very slightly neck heavy. Not enough to dive though, fortunately.
11. What about making your streamer active/passive?
12. *SOLD* Great condition, only one small ding that I can find - about 1.5mm and it's on the arm contour, so can't be seen when playing (can hardly be seen at all!) This is a great bass, I couldn't believe how much you can get for this sort of money these days. I was going to keep this and put a jazz neck on it, but due to my various physical limitations I've decided that my Ibanez is the right bass for me for now and I don't need another currently. I can include a standard thin gig bag but I'll have to try it tonight and make sure it fits before I commit to that haha, or I can include a super awesome hybrid gig bag/case with really thick padding and stiffened sides for £35. I don't have a box or case so can't post it, so either collection from Gloucester or I can delivery by train within a reasonable distance - Cardiff, Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, etc, if my train fare is covered. Any questions, please ask.
13.
Ouch! Calling Spacechick, Bluejay, Evil Undead!
Hellooooo! You called? I think that a lot of the female bassists posted up on here, whilst very good players (far better than I'll ever be) are nothing spectacular, and probably wouldn't be noticed at all if they were men. But, really, we all know that music, especially bass, guitar and drums, are very male dominated, and it's nice to know that you guys notice the lady bassists now and then. Hopefully for our playing rather than, erm, other aspects.
14. Cool, I'll PM you mudpup. Only green ones left now folks. The best colour IMHO
15. I've got 20 extra Gravity Picks going unused here so I'm selling them on. 18 in fluorescent green, one orange and one blue. They're all UV, and are really easy to see when you drop them on stage. I haven't lost a single one yet. These are amazing acrylic picks, handmade in sunny California. They give a great full tone, feel good, and are really sturdy, and take forever to wear down - I've been using the same one for about 18 months on nickel rounds, and the very tip point is just starting to wear! They are all the same size even though some say Std and some say Big Mini - the company changed the sizing between orders. They're not small though as far as I'm concerned, about the same size as an average pick. And they are all 3mm, tapering to a pointed tip, so perfect for bass. Or guitar shredding The guitarplectrums website sells these, in much less awesome colours, for £4.50 each, so I'll sell these for £2.50 each, posted free within the UK. Will combine postage if you want more than one. I'm only selling as I've moved on to a thinner pick. 16. I've never had anything stolen but I am careful. Always keep a close eye on my stuff. And I'm insured through a specialist musical instrument policy. Might seem a bit extreme but I can't afford to replace anything that's stolen or damaged. I had a guy once at a gig (fellow bassist from another band that was on) call me a "flashy bastard" for playing a USA Fender... I kept an extra close eye on my stuff that night. Don't know why he thought that flashy though.
17. Hmm... Check out the edge of the body (all the way around between the front and sides) , it's kinda squared off all round. Fenders are more curvy.
18. I've been looking at these basses as well. Anyone else who owns one care to share their thoughts? Is there any neck dive? Is it possible to get a really low action? Something I really want to find out is the width of the fretboard at the 12th fret
19. I had a Mustang for a while - nice enough, but I felt so cramped on it. So I don't think I'll go for a short scale. Scale-wise, 34" seems fine for me if I'm sitting down. But when I stand up, the bass hangs further to the left and makes the scale a bit long. But, since I only play at home now, and sitting down (that answers a question above!), I don't think that's a massive issue. I was playing my Fender P again last night and the neck is just too wide for me. The width of this Ibanez is perfect, but front to back is too thin, so I'm going to definitely consider the jazz neck thing. Might put one on my Squier CV. Might also get a jazz pickup fitted as well whilst I'm at it
