1. Drums are haaaaaaaaaard! I started learning a while ago, fair enough I have extremely rare access (every six months ish for half an hour) to a kit and am only self taught for now, but after a two years I can only play a straight 4/4, 6/8, and a couple of songs (hard to handle and back in black )
 2. Here you go mate! I've been over the bass with my camera. The dings look worse than they are. 3. Hello I've PM'd you the following info just in case you don't see this I can't see any fret wear of note and I'm not sure what pickup wear means - I can't see any physical wear on them and they certainly sound good! Regarding the dings - I can only see three very tiny ones that are just about visible in the pics above - one on the forearm contour and two even smaller ones on the upper horn. I wouldn't say they were anything major at all. I'll see if I can get some better photos of them later on if they show up.
 4.
On one side, you have someone that saves a fortune on the cost of buying a car, the cost of running it, can sit sit with his feet up 'till his chauffeur arrives, always has another pair of hands available, can relax in the car until he arrives at his destination.
I'm not one of those people. I carry my gear down two flights of stairs from my flat, and back up again at the end. I load it in to the car (except the cab, because the guitarist would rather he do that). And I help carry his gear in to the venue. Definitely don't "sit with my feet up"! I always offer a cut of my gig takings, and I always offer to pay for his share of rehearsal, and I offer fuel money, and he always declines. I buy him a drink each time because that's all he'll accept. He's a great guy. Oh, and I buy him a Christmas present to say thanks at the end of the year
 5. I'm on the other end. I can't currently afford to run a car, so my guitarist picks me and my gear up for practice and gigs. I always buy him a Red Bull (his favourite) as he won't accept petrol money. I'm extremely grateful to him, as I wouldn't be able to be in a band if it weren't for him. Always two sides to every story
 6. I thought about rotating the jack. But didn't know if I should in case the wires come off (yeah, I'm that clueless)!
 7.
I don't c I don't change anything either, in fact my amp (Markbass LM2) is usually set flat. It's a technique thing, I know people at college who slap P basses strung with flats, and they still sound fine.
My P bass with flats is my favourite bass to "slap" (yeah I'm rubbish but it's fun and sounds great)
 8.
It sounds like the pickguard is not quite a perfect fit . It's impossible to say if the jack is under too much strain without seeing it , but it should be ok . Take a look at it and try and see if it is under pressure or more susceptible to being tugged than before .
Nah the fit isn't quite perfect, but only in that one tiny place. The jack is rested pretty snugly against the wood, but I can't tell if it's under strain or pressure.
 9. I just got a new pickguard for my Squier P, and noticed that the output jack is now 1mm or so closer to the bridge, and the jack inside now rests against the wood at the lower tip of the cavity. It makes the pickguard bulge out maybe 1/2mm from the body just by the jack. Barely noticeable. Is this going to make the jack not work? It seems to be ok at the moment but was wondering if there will be any problems down the line.
 10.
After reading this, I know my pricing isnt out of the ballpark. Have a "very nice" bump on me.
I don't understand. Do you mean I've priced this too high?
 11. I'll usually have a half before the 1st set, another half in the break, and perhaps a pint after tear-down. Probably shouldn't, but it doesn't make me remotely tipsy so meh, why not? I'd never get drunk before a gig though.
 12. The weight of this bass is exactly 8lbs
 13. Totally. But, don't forget this is a 4 ohm cab. I use this by itself in a very loud rock band and it's never had any trouble. I don't D.I. either
 14.
Do you still have the tortoiseshell pick guard?
I don't. Sold it to buy the black one.
 15. Welcome! Sigh... my dream is to live in southern Sweden. One day... Anyway, enjoy the forum, it's a great place
 16. I don't understand why people still aren't posting pictures, there are loads of options. Tinypic, photobucket, flickr, etc.
 17. EDIT - I'm losing stupid amounts on this, but it has to go. So, I literally only got this earlier this week, but I've decided that I am going to stick with my 4 stringers for now. It's an SR505, not sure of the year but it's a newer model with the mid frequency switch. Bartolini pickups and 3 band EQ. It's in good condition, only a few little dings on the body, nothing major. Everything works fine. Comes with a new TKL gig back, and it's got new D'Addario strings on. I'd like to get back the £350 that I paid PRICE DROP TO £250 plus UK postage, or you're welcome to collect from Gloucester. Pics
 18.
Blimey Mel, surprised at that, though as you say, you have to go with the hands, and not the heart.
I know. I'm surprised as well to be honest, and it has been a tough decision. I listed it once and took it down again. But I've made my mind up this time - the Squier CV is not quite as good as the Fender, but it's more than good enough for what I need, and the neck just feels better in my little hands.
The king of basses. All you could ever need right there.
True! I'm a huge fan of Precisions, and this is a really nice example.
Mel is a delight to deal with. Buy with confidence.
Thanks Jay
