1.
Cheers for the replies so far guys Does anyone here use an iPad to practice? If so, what apps do you use?
I use Amplitube. Cheaper than a practice amp. I think mine was £11, plus I bought a couple of extra pedals for £2 each. And the iRig was £25 ish.
2. Thanks guys, yeah the Fender is a gorgeous bass.
3. I've changed my mind on these for the moment as they're both such awesome basses! I'll just have to practice more and get used to the necks
4.
Never mind 2 or 3 per gig, I'm probably making 2 or 3 per song! I do have a good poker face though, developed through years of not corpsing on stage when things go wrong in my theatre and comedy performances!
Haha yeah, I make a couple of mistakes on at least 50% of our songs. As for the poker face, I've not got that down yet - I guess I'd rather people know I'm aware of my errors
5.
Sorry But what did you expect?
A degree of maturity?! I have a sense of humour, but I started this thread to obtain information that would be useful and valuable to myself and perhaps others, not to read lesbian and penis jokes.
6. Thanks for destroying what was supposed to be a sensible and informative thread guys. Really appreciate that.
7. I'm wanting to know what kind of bass you feel most comfortable playing. The info I'm interested in is brand/model, scale length, number of strings, string spacing, etc. I just want to get a feel for what type of basses women feel suit them best. Thanks for your time
8.
Before someone forgets to mention it: different series can have different necks, so more or less chunky P necks exist and more or less slim J necks. People will certainly chime in with hard facts and better knowledge, but at least this has now been mentioned. best, bert
That's true, thanks for pointing that out. I forget about the different series and just mentioned the American Standards in my post above.
9. Come on guys! There must be more of you up for this, it's a bit of fun!
10. I believe Precision necks are 42mm at the nut, and Jazz necks are 38mm, which is quite a difference, but the heel size is the same. Personally,I think I prefer Precision necks, Jazz ones feel a bit cramped.
11.
Funnily enough i'm the same - I wear ear plugs in bed every night... now can't sleep without them!
Yep me too. Also wear earplugs when my other half and I are watching TV.
12. I use headphones (actually, the in ear buds) when I practice and have never had a problem, but that's probably because I don't have it loud at all. I don't like anything particularly loud (good choice of hobby eh? Haha). And I always use earplugs at rehearsal and gigs. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get any damage
13. That's me out then. I have a 4 ohm cab for trade Good luck with your search.
14. Hi Kevin Dean! Does it have to be an 8 ohm cab?
15. Thanks geoham. Bump
16.
Lol, actually I might just flog the 210 cab to be fair, as I can use PA support on all gigs anyway
Thought I may have a possible trade in the works there, damnit! glad you've possibly sorted your situation out though
17. Another girl bassist here, welcome Bass Lady! Enjoy the forums
18. Does sound like the truss rod needs a little adjustment. How much relief is there?
19. Same here, back problems so weight is a huge factor for me. Anything over 9lbs is pretty much a definite no go, no matter how well it balances. I personally don't like skinny nut widths and I have small hands. My P bass has a nut width of 42mm which is just right for me. But, however, I know great big rugby player type guys with hands like shovels who much prefer the 38mm jazz nut.
20. Price? Location? Willing to ship? Pics? All this would help you a lot!
21. Couple of new pics from me My basses on my extremely gaudy sofa. And a weird perspective, making the Squier look much bigger than the Fender! It's not, they're exactly the same size.
22. I bought a couple of stands from the Old Horse. Great comms, quick delivery, thanks mate
23.
I've done this in private sales before. Never had a problem. I work at BassGear one day a week to help out my friend who owns the store. Pretty sure he'll be happy to agree something along these lines for you. Check his stock and see if there's anything that takes your fancy
Private sales? As in you and another individual, not a shop? Bass Gear is an amazing store! But one of the things I'm after is a Squier, I'm sure they don't stock those
