1.
Could I ask what an 'MM' neck is? Cheers!
Mighty Mite
 2.
I think we have very similar taste for maple necked P basses, Mel...
Hell yeah
 3. I just bought this a couple of months ago thinking that I might get back into playing guitar as well as bass. But I don't like those skinny strings naw, really, I just found that I don't really enjoy playing guitar as much as bass, so it's been sitting unplayed since the second week. It's a Yamaha Pacifica 112, I'm guessing late 90's but not 100% sure. Natural satin finish over a nice quality alder body (looks like 2 piece), white pickguard and pickups (HSS), maple neck and fretboard. It's got its fair share of dings on the back and sides (don't think any of them go through the finish) and a few scratches on the fretboard at the first fret, nothing that affects playability. No dings on the neck that I can find. Everything in good working order, and it's just had a brand new set of Rotosound strings (10's) on. I'll throw in a spare E string as well. Comes with a kinda hideous but perfectly functional white hard shell case with orange plush interior, fits perfectly. I'm looking for (£80) NOW £65 collected from Gloucester, which as I'm sure anyone who's played one knows, it's quite a bargain. EDIT - the tremolo arm isn't in the photos as I don't use it, but I do have the original one and it is included in the sale.
 4.
My favourite part of this thread is how someone called Evil Undead is playing The Monkees. love the juxtaposition
5.
Nobody knows, she has a very impressive resume even without those claims. Here is a bit about that: http://chnm.gmu.edu/courses/magic/kaye/
Interesting reading, thanks
 6.
You know she's claiming to have played half of James Jamerson's lines at Motown despite other musicians and producers saying she didn't? It's a shame, she's a great player but it's not doing her credibility any good.
Really? What a strange thing to do. Why is she doing that?
 7.
Very possibly, but how do we know?
If it wasn't her, I don't think she would be allowed to put it up on her website someone would have kicked off by now if it were false http://www.carolkaye.com/www/library/basshits.htm
 8. I think I can't be much of a bass player if I have this much trouble figuring out fairly simple songs. But never mind, with the assistance of YouTube, Ultimate Guitar and helpful Basschatters, I keep muddling through
 9. steve-bbb, a massive part of the song just dropped into place thanks to your tab You're a legend, cheers

I've had a brief look at it and it's still not making much sense, but I really need to sit down with it for a couple of hours. This song is supposed to be easy haha! Maybe I'm just a goon
 11.
Learn your triads and make the song move and flow... forget the specific part as it isn't a definitive bassline, IMO. but if you need help making it work, then nick one or two lines and bu;ld on that
Triads?
 12.
There's no song showing up on your post.
Ah balls. I got the embed code from youtube but must have screwed it up somewhere.
I think it's The Monkees I'm a believer?
It is, thank you.
 13. I need to learn this song for my band, we want to play it at a gig next month, and I've tried and tried, and just can not get it. I'm frustrated almost to the point of insanity! Can anyone tab this, or has anyone got a tab for the version this guy is playing? There's a tab on Ultimate Guitar but it doesn't make sense. I've been trying to learn it by ear and by following this guy but it's hopeless so far. Thanks <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/iM4qz-jeKZA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
 14. These are great basses. I had the 5 string version a while back and really enjoyed playing it. Sounded great too.
 15. I'm out too, and I'm sorry to say that any offers I've made to sort your bass out for you no longer stand. We don't get paid for helping, we don't get brownie points or anything in return, we do this simply because this is like a brotherhood and we want to help a fellow player get the best from their instrument. We have all tried our best to help and been met with ungrateful retorts, negativity, criticism and unpleasantness. Even if you were a paying customer of mine I think I would have told you where to get off by now, and since you're not... buh-bye.
 16.
Absolutely. Mods, lock it.
I'm sure they would have already if they thought it necessary
 17.
You've got it the wrong way around. I don't play through an amp/cab. I play directly into the computer I have. The problem with the E string isn't just it's disproportionate volume. It's that the entire string just feels disproportionate: heavier, harder to play, higher than the action allows. I can't explain why this is other than the symptoms of a cheap bass. Playing on the low E is uncomfortable, possibly because the bass is heavy (it is) and perhaps unergonomic (ymmv), but even with it slung high (i don't like it that way, but it's impossible to play slung low), my hand is in an uncomfortable position when playing around and beyond the 12th fret on the E. No problem with the A, D or G.
Maybe your technique needs looking at? But to be honest, it's not that comfortable for anyone to play that high up on the E string without wearing the bass like a scarf. As said before (which you seem to be ignoring) your bass is not what most people would call cheap, and I've never played a low quality Spector from any price range.
 18. My god this is still going on. I really wish I had this bass in front of me with my tools. I can almost guarantee that I'd have it sorted in less than two hours.
 19.
... And memories of my old Spector haunt me to this day...
20.
Since getting my P, I am not loving my jazz any more. I pick up the P as my automatic choice, it feels like "my bass", love the flats on it, adore its solid feel and just dont think I will want to play anything else now. I'm going to put flats on the jazz to see if I find them better (really dont like the current strings, no idea what they are), but unless a miracle happens I will move it on. I am a total convert .....
I hate to say I told you so... ...however...
 21.
nobody asked for an address, or a name. A town, an area is enough. I find it strange, amusing and a little sad at the same time. It must be terrible to live with so much fear of... of I can't imagine what, really.
Nothing amusing about it really, it's a terrible thing to live with, and it destroys lives Anyway, enough speculation...
