1.
Flats! La Bella flats! Classic 'P' sound, very smooth to the touch and easy on the frets!
I was thinking perhaps Chromes for a little brighter tone but still with the thump. Want something that will not require a truss rod adjustment as well (currently using elixir 45-105)
2. Love it! I don't like skinny necks - I had an Ibanez which was a lovely bass but the neck was so thin it gave me hand cramp
3. Thanks guys! It's definitely a keeper. I wanna play it until I'm too old to play any more! One thing that I can't decide on though - flats or rounds?
4. Is it terrible that I can't wait for it to have a bit of "character"?
5.
Thanks for all your advice guys..I've fixed it :-) one thing I didn't check last night was the action..it was far too high, I've lowered all 4 strings and each note each string are spot on now :-). ..... And no fret buzzes either :-)
Excellent I've posted a couple of pics in a new thread so as to not derail yours, feel free to have a look
6.
Does that explain why you haven't hoovered??
Nope! But I have more interesting things to do than housework The mess on the floor is rat food that I've dropped whilst feeding my pet rats.
7.
ahhh...new toys..they're great aren't they..
Yep. I've had it for I think the best part of a month now and I'm thoroughly smitten.
8. Here she is. Fender USA Standard Precision 2011. All stock except the pickguard. Like porn to me, and maybe to others? Either way, wanted to show it off. (P.S. Sorry for the state of my living room.)
9. I recommend new strings, and a good setup, make sure the relief is minimal and the action is nice (I always go for less than 2mm @ 12th). Also, you may need the nut lowered slightly on the E side but get a luthier to check that. Also, I know this sounds lame, but make sure you're not fretting too hard - that can really knock the intonation out. I second the above post that Fenders factory setup isn't exactly optimal. I mean, it's ok for most I guess but for us fussy folk it needs a decent amount of tweaking. I had to restring mine, adjust the truss rod, set it up nicely, and I still wasn't quite happy - I ended up putting a very thin shim in the neck pocket! It's perfect now
10. Would it be considered hijacking if I were to post a pic of mine? I'm so proud of it

Acoustic's

I had an Ibanez acoustic a few years back, it was £175 new. Absolutely brilliant guitar - I'm almost sorry I sold it now but it just wasn't getting played (I ain't no guitarist).
18. Wow that looks fantastic! I can't help but wonder what it would look like with a black pick guard <3
19. Woo! I'm excited for you. I have the 2011 one and it's excellent.
20. I'm a Fender Precision fan, so I'm by default also a Squier Precision fan the Classic Vibe series is excellent as is the Matt Freeman signature, and awesome value for money. But, if Squier or Fender aren't your bag, there are loads of options out there - my advice would be to go to a store and play as many as you can in your price range, unplugged first so you see which ones feel best and narrow it down, and then plug those in and see which one sounds best to your ears
21. I did mainly because it looks pretty haha, but also because it makes it easier to identify which is mine
