1. Another +1 for OC-2. Failing that, try the MXR octave pedal. Have also heard good things about Aguilar Octimizer but have never used one.
2. Another +1 for the OC-2, Rick. The OC-3 can't hold a candle to the OC-2 even though it claims to have the original OC-2 mode .I had an OC-2 years ago and was looking for a new octaver so I A/B'd the OC-3 nad the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe (couldn't find an OC-2 and the MXR was getting rave reviews) and the difference was night and day. Tracking issues asside, the OC-2 is so much warmer and way more organic than it's newer counterpart. OC-2 all the way but if you're having trouble locating one then the MXR does a pretty good job too. Have also heard good things about the Aguilar Octamizer if it's specifically an octave pedal you're looking for, but have never used one.
3. Another +1 for the OC-2 but if you can't find one then the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe is a close second. Stay away from the Boss OC-3 - a truly dreadful pedal (IMHO) I did and A/B with the OC-3 & MXR and even though the OC-3 claims to have the original OC-2 mode it's nothing like the OC-2 or the MXR. Avoid! have heard good things about the Aguilar Octamizer but have never used one.
4. Steely Dan are one of my favourite bands and I was lucky enough to get a ticket to the last gig in Edinburgh Playhouse a few years back. Was outstanding, best £60 I've spent! Love Donald Fagen's writing. Great track. cheers Lowdown
5. Excellent pedals so I doubt this'll be here long especially at that price. I have the GR2 and a Wonderlove on the way. I love the 3Leaf filters!
6.
Acoustic 361, with the 360 preamp/head
Jaco-tastic! For me it's my MKV Trace Elliot 1048. Weighs more than your average tenement building but sounds oh sooooo good! Defo a keeper!
7. PM'd RE: Wonderlove
8.
Please update your topic title. Thanks :-)
+1
9. My 1989 custom built Larkin Reacter Fretless 4B.
10. For something that's ony gona be used for one or two tracks you can't go wrong with a 2nd hand Boss ODB-3. You can get them pretty cheap and used with a low gain setting it does the job (IMHO of course!) nicely.
11. As far as octave pedals go I can recommend an old Boss OC-2 or the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe. I had the OC-2 way back years ago and currently have the MXR. The OC-2 is a bit tempramental in it's tracking but nonetheless both great pedals The come up in the For Sale section on occasion so keep your eyes peeled.
12. Well I think it's about time I posted my set-up: Bass > El Grande > Dunlop Bass Wah > Boss ODB3 > MXR Envelope Filter > 3Leaf GR2 with the MXR BOD in the effects loop. I'm planning to replace the El Grande with a Red Ripper and add an Iron Ether Oxide to the GR2's effect loop along with the BOD.
13. +1 for the Iron Ether Oxide, not that I have one (yet!) but from what I've heard on the IE website/YT etc. it fits the bill perfectly. Planning to add that to my GR2's effect loop along with my MXR BOD.
14. Currently on hold
15. I'm starting to get quite bored of Ring my Bell (Anita Ward) Kung Fu Fighting (Carl Douglas) but the one I hate most is Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics. Every god-damned gig!
16. I kinda like the Oly White with the blue go-faster stripes. Kinda reminds me of Shelby Cobra's and those are truly beautiful looking things!
17. As Edward Woodward once said: "Oh God! Oh Jesus Christ!"
18. Along with Machinehead above, I've owned both of these basses and still have the US '75 RI which I bought on the strength of the Squier; my reasoning being if a £250 Indonesian built bass plays and sounds as well as it does (and it does, believe me!) how much better will a £1000 US built bass be? The answer is 'A lot'. The Fender is without a doubt the best bass I've ever played and I have to agree with Machinehead regarding the materials used, the build quality, electrics & pickups etc. Don't get me wrong, the Squier is a fabulous bass and I recommend buying it but if you can find a 2nd hand US RI you should opt for that instead. Trust me, you won't regret it!
19.
Dave, what bridge did you replace it with? It's not a CV, it's a VM.
I replaced the stock bridge on my VM fretless with a Gotoh 203. I chose this bridge as it was pretty much a direct replacement, offered an additional two anchor points at the front of the bridge (allegedly contributing to better sustain) and it fits under a Fender Jazz bridge ashtray. Not sure the 201 fit under the ashtray though. Hope this helps.
20. Bump for links to pics.
21. Another +1 for the MXR Bass Envelope Filter. Had one for a while now and it's with me at every gig. Very funky and easy to use pedal, gets very wet too! I'm sure you could get a used one for less than £100. The 3Leaf Groove Regulator was mentioned earlier; I'm awaiting delivery of the GR2 version which (I believe) is low pass. I've never used one so will let you know how that compares to the band pass MXR once it arrives.
22. Afternoon all, Here is my Boss TU-3. As well as being a great tuner I was using it to power some of my pedals but it's now surplus to requirements as I now own a Diago Powerstation. It's in great condition, works perferctly (just tried it out with a battery power supply) and comes boxed with all paperwork present. I've got the original Boss daisy chain I bought with it which I'll include in the sale. Asking £60 posted. Bank transfer or cash on collection only please. EDIT: I've tried and failed to upload pics using BC's pic uploader so I've created a Picaso album. Hopefully the links will work: https://picasaweb.go...409671425530802 https://picasaweb.go...409671787914498 https://picasaweb.go...409676819946018 https://picasaweb.go...409689220147474 https://picasaweb.go...409692525447682 Thanks for looking, Ian SOLD SOLD SOLD
