The tracks in it are tough but very very rewarding and musical. G ps - last month BGM had some cool advice from Dave Marks in it too. pps - the cab is awesome
Book ordered - cheaper actually from Amazon UK, carrige from Canada was a killer. Thanks Man !!
  2. Great stuff guys, just tried it and it worked a treat, its difficult to keep it going but at last I have the lilting feel thats eluded me ! Garry, will be getting that book and glad you like the cab. Next time I'm in Edinburgh I'll give you a shout (and we'll keep away from the men in suits...). Probably be end July now at this rate, but you never know. Thanks a million again !
  3. Bought this off a bassworlder about a year ago and I gigged it once but with a change of band and venues played, I dont use it much any more. Handles the low B on my 5 string really well. £65 UK posted, or collect from Worcester Park, Surrey and save yourself a fiver. 4. Change of heart coupled with desire for cash - relisted !
  5. Been struggling to nail it, any of you senors and senoritas got some tips. Sounds like you need to play slightly behind the beat, but I just cant get it right.....
  6.
You are right - I am working through the Ed Friedland "building walking basslines" book and will be moving on to the Gary Willis book thereafter, as there is a lot to take in. Both Ed Friedland and Gary Willis are fantastic tutors, and I the Gary Willis book requires more of a preconcept of walking basslines in order to work.
Agree with all thats been said above. What worked for me was the Strong-Beat, Weak Beat concept thats a favourite of Gary Willis. Take a standard bar with four notes in it, and play it over and over, with the emphasis on beats 1 and beats 3. You can extend this to scales (you will need to play the top note twice to keep within the four beats to a bar form as you come down the scale) and all of a sudden your scales and arpeggios sound interesting. Vary it around a bit. For example play with the emphasis on beats 2 and 4 you've got yourself a reggae groove, 1 2 and 3 and you have a skipping walk and so on.

    New skin

What was wrong with the old skin. I dont like the new one, it doesnt give me anything and I would like to keep the old one - but it seems I cant select it any more. It seems pretty arbitrary to force a new skin on people just because its "new" and "cool".

  15. For sale, Warwick Streamer STD, December 1999. £275 UK posted, or collect from Worcester Park, Surrey and save yourself £20. Its a really great bass, lovely sound, very easy to play and a suprisingly good range of sounds from the single passive humbucker. Two controls, volume and tone and you can pull up the volume knob to put the humbucker in series or parallel respectively. This was my first Warwick and I've been really impressed with it. Only selling because I just bought a Corvette $$. This is a proper German Warwick, NOT a "rockbass". The previous owner who bought it new, only used it for recording (he upgraded to a Thumb). Since I had it I've not gigged it and taken care of it so it's in excellent condition with only a couple of insignificant dings, these should be visible from the photos. Specifications: * 4 string * Single Passive MEC soapbar pickup (Standard factory pickup) * Brass frets (24) * Adjustable nut * 3 piece ovankol neck * Wenge fretboard * Carolena body * Natural finish * Chrome Warwick hardware * Made in Germany (1999 serial number) * Serial Number L ****** 99 verified by Warwick as a genuine Streamer STD Looking for £250, UK posted. Sensible offers considered. No gig-bag I'm afraid but it will be well packed for posting. If you can collect from Worcester Park Surrey, I'll knock £20 off the price. £230 for a genuine Warwick - thats a steal ! Now the pics: Bass in a variety of poses: Body: Headstock: This is the (minor) ding:
  16.
There's a great Yamaha fretless 6 on eBay, the sellers name looks awfully familiar I heard varied reviews on those Mazeti etc. Some very good, some very bad. I'be heard good stuff about Harley Benton bring good for the price. Have to say though, that I have no personal experience of either...
Harley Benton is very good value for the price. I bought a fretless 5, think I paid around £130. After about 18 months I did outgrow it but not before I had a pretty good feel for both fretless and 5 strings - exactly why I bought it. I did a couple of gigs with it and got complements on the looks and the sound. Anyway I now have a more expensive fretless 4 and a fretted 5 - that is the only downside, it'll fuel your GAS. Check out Harmony Central for the Harley Benton reviews. I did a review myself for one of the old sites and if you PM me your email I'll send it to you. Cheers, John
