2.
Next year when we get to the States - can't wait!
Can I ask what that is ?
3. The distance form the nut to the bridge is an inch longer, so all the frets will be slighter further apart. Not too big a deal really, probably more noticeable on a fretless.
4. It's a sign of the times I guess. People want stuff and fire off a PM, then sit and think and realise that theu can't actually afford it. I'm selling my Sei 6 string in the 'for sale section''. I've had someone offer me a bass that I sold them 6 months ago plus cash coming to a total of half the value of my bass. I think you just have to accept that selling nowadays is sometimes a long process.
5. Saturday before Christmas bump.
6. You need to be very, very versatile. Being able to read can be quite useful. Time is money, that's something I was told ages ago. You need to be able to get the job done with the minimum of fuss. Having the ability to play a couple of different instruments is useful too, BG and DB for instance.
7. I'm confused is the octabass £60 or £70 ?
8.
MB1. Doubt youll sell this without some Measurements!
Look up the size of an Aguilar GS112, that's what it was made for . And if you own an Aguliar GS112 then you already know it'll fit.
9. I had this made by Castle cases in Tamworth for my Aguilar GS112, it'll fit most cabs of that size including the DB112. It's extremely well made, it's foam lined inside, and fitted with robust and sturdy lockable wheels. My Acme Low B2 doesn't fit inside though, and it's really in the way. Actual inside measurements are as follows 51cm x 49cm x 39cm (tall). It's in excellent condition. It cost £150 about four months ago, I'd like £50 for it, plus postage. Trades welcome for EBS effects pedals, Demeter Compulator, Diago powersupply, Carbon Copy delay, Analogman Compressor.
10.
True. But I think the main problem is sonic subjectivity. What sounds great to a rock geek like me - fat low bass with a gravel-path crunch - will sound crap to a floppy hatted funkster who's popping and slapping all over.
That's kind of my point, it would help if people actually staed what sort of situation they've used said piece of gear in, and what sort of music they played through it, other gear used effects etc. People ask for advice on cabs, strings, basses even. And people automatically jump up and shout "try (insert whatever item of gear is currently in vogue)". What they should ask is what do they want the gear for, what sort of music, how regularly will the gear be gigged etc.
11.
Had a sei 6 before the gallery opened serial no,,008 a fantastic bass had that for over 10 years..no trade at the moment though.Isn't your Zon the same as mine?
Yeah, but I'd have mine defretted. Fretless Zon Sonus 6's seem to be pretty rare. Yours has fret dots, so I keep yours fretted.
12.
Do you mean this one...what a tease...
Yes, that one ! If you fancy a trade for a mint Sei 6 string let me know
13. I just bought a Zon, from the guy above hee hee. Amazing basses, if this is only half as good as mine then it's going to be brilliant. I'd have your 6 string Zon from you if you ever decide to sell that.
14. I agree with some of the posts on here. There is definitely a tendency for members of this site to 'big up' (for want of a better phrase) certain manufacturers. Shuker basses instantly springs to mind, I've personally hated everyone that I've played, but that's just me. And if someone comes along and says something less than positive about said manufacturer then all hell breaks loose. I think the main problem is that peoples reviews aren't totally accurate, they possibly don't try other manufacturers gear beforehand. Then they claim that 'X' is amazing and totally blows everything else out of the water, it's transparent sounding when it's not, it's loud when it's not, it's this, and it's that etc. A few months ago I played a bass built by someone on here, it was at a bass bash. It was awful, it was like something made for a GCSE technology exam, by someone destined to fail said GCSE technology exam . But I've seen similar basses receive rave reviews on here. I've not heard or played through one of Alex's cabs, so I won't comment on them. I did communicate with him a few months ago about buying one, and found him to be friendly, but I found that I had to ask very direct questions about the cab and the sound of them before I got a proper answer. I now use an Acme cab. This is 'transparent', a word that's used a lot, but I think it's appropriate here. I find this produces the sound that I was after.
15.
Hey whats up Kev, That Sei is a beautiful bass. I've seen it in person and have actually held it in my hands. I bought an Epifani Series 2 2X12 bass cab from Kevin. Very very good guy to deal with...
Hi David Thanks for saying so. I remember that day well. You were admiring my Sei bass and I was falling in love with your equally beautiful Smith bass.
16. Morning bump.
17.
Hallo, this is a very nice bass. Can you tell me the weight of it as precise as possible, Greets Arpi
It's about 9lbs according to my bathroom scales, not too sure how accurate they are though. It's heavier than my Zon sonus 6 but not as heavy as my Modulus Q6.
18. Bump. Trades also for 'super jazzes', Sadowsky, Nordstrand etc 4 or 5 string basses plus cash my way, Status Kingbass series 2 4 or 5 string. Effects wanted Mu-tron, Subdecay Prometheus, Chunk Systems Agent 00 Funk mkII.
19. Bump.
20. He's amazing. His compositional skills and his playing. I spent a day with him recently at a masterclass, he's a really cool and nice guy.
