Total Watts

  1. Great guy - a pleasure to deal with! A quick and easy purchase
  2. Cheers @mattp that's exactly what I needed. Will stack nicely then. My amp puts out its full power onto 2.7 ohms (Blackstar Unity elite 700)
  3. Just been in the situation of which cab to buy. Went with Barefaced and very glad I did. Even with the price rise, still 'cheap' compared to Bergantino if you can actually find a new Berg in UK. There's a little bit of Vanderkley kicking about and no chance of Mesa for several months. I waited 16 weeks for My Barefaced and throughout, kept looking for alternatives. There were none! Everything is out of stock and long lead times.
  4. This is the older generation cab (not the newer Super Midget). Anyone got one, can give me accurate measurements? Barefaced website says 19.5 inches or 48cm height. Well, 19.5 inches certainly ain't 48cm LOL I'm hoping it will stack nicely with my Super Twin if turned horizontally.
  5. Just bought a bass pre/DI from Jonny. Easy transaction, excellent communication and quick delivery. Couldn't be better!
  6. shipping was included as the order was above their free shipping value. On an order value of around £153, the following additional charges were applied on delivery Import VAT = £34.62 UK Duty = £5.57 UPS Transaction Charges = £11.50 Thomann displayed charges on their website no longer include VAT for UK customers.
  7. Hi All Just a quick heads-up on my own experience today - UPS man came to the door with my parcel from Thomann and requested for charges to be paid (import duty, VAT and transaction handling charge) - He couldn't hand over the parcel till I pay the charges (cash to the delivery man or on-line by card) I ordered parts from Thomann to the value of approx £150 and got stung for £51 charges. Totally forgot we're not in EU anymore. Thomann prices not quite the bargain they seemed!
  8. Sorry... bit late to this thread but might be useful for someone in future... When I tried this a few years ago I contacted Warwick and they said the MEC active pickups I had in my 94 Fortress were rated to 18v but the MEC 2 band electrics were rated to 9v. I was replacing the electrics anyway so ran MEC pickups with EMG circuitry and used 2 batteries in series to get 18v I noticed no difference in sound quality but the battery life was terrible! I went back to 9v
  9. Thank you A.G.E.N.T.E Very useful and informative answer. I replaced the badly pitted/tarnished bridge on my 94 Fortress a few years ago and now I realise I've replaced an original brass one with alloy LOL! No casting marks on the original so must have been machined from a solid block.
  10. An interesting idea...! I'm Gloucestershire area, have several 5 string basses with different pickup combinations, fretted and fretless, multi fx, midi bass pedals and midi bass. Have also been thinking of getting Electric Upright so a few different texture options there! Salisbury a bit far away maybe?
  11. Dave is a quality guy - very helpful and good communication throughout the transaction. Item arrived in pristine condition in original packaging with all manuals/lead etc. He obviously looks after his gear!
  12. Sorry I'm late to the party.... only just seen this advert but thought it was worth getting in touch in case you (or anyone you know) is looking for a bassist in the future. I'm in Cirencester, formerly Pro/Semi Pro with covers bands doing the North East working men's club circuit. Basses include Warwick fretted and fretless 5 stringers with a versatile amp rig that goes from a compact 1 wedge shaped cab right through to a concert sized multiple cab setup, I also play a bit of keyboards and have a midi setup which allows me to play keyboard sounds either direct from the bass or from midi foot pedals. I'm looking to add an electric upright bass in the near future too so some paid gigs would be nice to finance that! Get in touch if you're still looking! Many thanks. Regards, Tim
  13. As someone who graduated from the "You hum it, I'll play it..." School of Music I can only agree. My father who was also a bass player only taught me one thing... "It's not what you play, It's the notes you leave out that's important...
