I don't venture up the loft too often because it hurts my feet. I do remember seeing Lord Lucan, Shergar and Gary Glitter up there in a menage a trois.

Im sure Anderson is doing a one date solo at the Robin in Wolves in July. Im not a Yes fan as sorts, but thoses I know who are are not enamoured at the thought of him and a guitar. He can only plat 3 chords so I haver been told. Looks like a Quo tribute night then ...

Excellent .... Im a big Level 42 fan. Great singing and playing, which is a massive accomplishment on bass. Give me a shout if you play in the midlands ... Nice 1.

Ive just pushed the boat out and bought some of them Elixr last 5 times longer. Three sweaty gigs in so far so good. there will always be a place in my heart for slinkies though and depending on the durability of the elixr I might be back sooner rather than later.

From my still rather limited experience of what is out there in main stream stores I seem to have settled on various bits of Jap reissue Fender bolted together to form mongrel Jazz's. Never say Never though ............

I used to panic about compressors and which one does what. I simply use the "natural" compressor on my ME50. To be honest my ME50 is becoming an elaborate tuner these days, although I have certainly had my money out of it in the past. I am finding a great sound now through my passive 75RI Jazz MB450 and 2xAE12 Bergs. The Bergs are a few months old and are really starting to sound sweet. Also I have found a little bit of crunch from the MB VLE filter and for some added puch I tweek the top tweeter on my Bergs. If I roll the compressor off the ME50 I don't really think there is anything in it. To complete the picture I might install a badass as I miss my old one. I think I know what it did now. Playing on Saturday at a party I was aware a few seasoned musos were about and a drummer in a successful tribute band complemented me about my tone and thought I had been playing a Ricky? I was pleased about this though as I think it proves one thing beyond doub t. 99% of your tone comes from your fingers.
The kind of gigs my band plays we have no choice but to be quick- but since it's just one guitar, bass and drums with no vocal mics at all it only takes maybe 8 minutes or something, including 3 for drums and 3 for playing through a tune. Guitar takes about 5 seconds since he's a one-channel wonder with no effects but a whammy pedal, and I only use 4 sounds - clean, dirty, fuzz and slap (which I use tastefully, I promise! ) and they're already dialled in. Sound guys seem to appreciate the simplicity!
I just checked out your myspace and really enjoyed it. Nice one!

I've swapped RI75 and 62 necks and standard necks with no problem, 4 and 3 bolt. From my limited experience I always find that maple boards need a bit more time to settle down if you tweek them, possibly something to do with the memory of the wood??? There are plenty of people who know a lot more than I do but I think it is a simple swap.

Is this Def Leppard?

1993 Fender Jazz 75 Reissue CIJ Natural SOLD!!
Mr Fudge replied to joetruscott's topic in Basses For Sale
I'd like to give this bass a major bump. I finally got to this stage a few weeks ago. I put my Marcus 75RI neck (Jap) on a 75RI Jap Jazz body and the results are superb. If you like the skinny neck and lightweight then this is for you. I might add a badass, Im not sure how much I am missing it at the moment. Good luck with a great bass. -
Luckily we need no more than 5 mins for a soundcheck as we have been playing together in a multitude of venues for 20 + years. However from van to "stage" we are looking at 1 and 1/2 hours and that is non stop. 1.5K rig, with big bloody tops and very, very heavy bins, 4 vocals, 3 keyboards, 1 bass, 1 electric, 2 acoustic, lights, and thank god our drummer saw the light and went electronic years ago. Add a flight of stairs or having to factor in by passing the odd noise limiter and we struggle to get up and running for show time. Sometimes we have to fore go a soundcheck and just start.

I love Neil Young ... Im not really interested in anything else ...

I think the only effect I would really miss is my wah to be honest. I may just get a quality tuner and quality wireless unit and rack them above my amp one day. Cutting my options would make life a lot easier sometimes and after all I only play covers so there isn't an enormous scope for effects anyway.

thanks for this ... I've just ordered some elixir strings. Do they really last 5 times as long. I thought it was a time to try something new anyway.

Sold my Marcus body to Jono. Excellent bloke to deal with.

I have been a drummer in a few bands in the past ( 10+ years ago though now). It's great fun and very very intense when you are playing. It all helps. The relationship between drummer and bass player is the most important one the band. If you can clap your hands you're there, if you cant you never will be! The steering wheel and dash of my car is now my drum kit. Very Alan Partridgesque ......

I can smell a "viagra" window popping up on this thread if you excuse the pun. Fair play and more pics please !!!

I really wish you had called this thread "Jazz Odyssey". Good luck and nice colour combo.

any 3 bolt advice please bump ....

I think I get a P sound from my Jazz when I turn up the first filter a bit on my MarkBass SA450. I do like a P but inevitably reach for the Jazz. Just my personal preference I suppose.

Im getting rid of a few things to fund a 75RI. I swapped this neck for a thinner jap one. The tuners are the really chunky F stamped Schaller ones and there is a hipshot fitted as well. Great neck for a P bass as well. With the really top hardware, great condition of the neck and my gas for a 75RI Im asking £180 posted to UK.
Why not just remove the active electronics?
I was hoping to sell the Marcus body at a later date and IMO my passive standard Jazz sounds much better than the marcus when it is passive. I'm just not getting along with active pups
