1. Hurrah! But I can't see the first one, in this thread or the other. Apparently it's "currently unavailable"? EDIT: Now I can. Nice one.
2. Was your maximum bid less than the next increment up from the winning bid (probably a fiver, so £208)? I lost something in that price range last week because my top bid was only £2.04 more than the winning bid, which must have been placed a second or two earlier. Gah! Damned by my own last-second sniping!
3. Thank you - I will have a very slow go at that.
4. For the record, Tesco in Cardigan currently (i.e. yesterday) have a stock of Grolsch with the ceramic caps and red seals. I can't speak for any other Tesco because I usually avoid the bastards, but needs must.
5. I fancied trying some flats for a bit of dub-style bass, so I've just ordered a set - thank you for the thread.
6.
Girls are sensitive, I think their vagina hurts when they lie. Which is why you should give them a firm slap on the backside and say "you're doing a good job darling" and sit down expecting a sandwich.
I'm appalled at your attitude, young man. To make an example of you I'm going to put this in the Famous Quotes thread.
7. Just received a Korg PX4B all-singing, all-dancing headphone amp from Al - works great, looks great, just as described. Smooth and speedy transaction. Thanks very much!
8. Reminded me of this clip from The Tube, featuring a Staccato bass, a Staccato guitar (momentarily) and - bless 'im - Mitch Mitchell...
9. Wednesday 10th August 2011, London, Jazz Cafe Thursday 11th August 2011, Birmingham, The Library at the HMV Institute May be able to make it to the Birmingham show. Of course, better yet would be the show on the 17th of August at Paradiso in Amsterdam, but that's a gig too far.
10. Starts July 1st - wonder if these early entries will count?
11. Bought two basses off Skezza - good deal, good communications, and he knows his stuff. Thank you very much! Steve
12. Mike Watt: Hyphenated-Man
13. I just - just - finished my first ever transcription using MuseScore. Went quite well. I don't know how it would be for chord charts (I'm not entirely sure what a chord chart even looks like), but I do agree that there's nothing particularly gay about it, although if you really study the logo you can probably find something!
14. Westone Spectrum ST: ~3.9 kg (<8 lb 10 oz)
15. Thanks Ed: strings arrived safely and quickly, and your good communications are appreciated. Great price too. Top man.
16. Thanks for the link - I smiled all the way through that. He's still a handsome bastard. Great stuff.

19. Stop drinking so much. And what xgsjx said.
20.
Incidentally, if you're a fan of Eric's bass clarinet playing you owe it to yourself to check out Louis Sclavis (if you haven't already).
Excellent advice. Never heard of him before, but I'm liking it very much so far (I've reached track 5 of L'imparfait de Langues). Thank you for the tip.
21. It was long held in the music press that any male music obsessive would eventually decide that it was time to listen to jazz. This happened to me when I was twenty eight and got my first CD player, and one of the seven CDs I bought was A Love Supreme. I liked it a lot, and carried on getting the standard and/or easily obtainable Coltrane and Miles stuff (including Ascension, the tune the Beastie Boys recommended for clearing the house of unwanted guests. Liked it, too!). Eventually I bought a Charles Mingus compilation which featured Eric Dolphy and that was pretty much it - got loads of Mingus/Dolphy recordings over the next few years. Eric Dolphy is probably my favourite musician. Got to admit, though, the thing that struck me most about the Mingus recordings I loved the most were how much they reminded me of the classic Tom & Jerry soundtracks. So it was Tom & Jerry that opened up jazz for me, as it turned out!
22. Very good indeed - thank you for the link.
23. Loosefish Scapegrace from Cardiacs Live
24.
Irony fail. I give up! J.
D'oh! I need a bit more time here, don't I? Apologies.
