1.
Headphone out isn't vital, as I do have my ashdown after eight for that. Never heard of dave hall, I'll look it up. Thanks Line 6 pod could be worth looking in to. Do you happen to have a link to the thread, might be an interesting read?
Thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/211602-whats-the-real-reason-you-want-amps-cabs-on-stage-rather-than-a-podsansamp-etc/ There is a bunch of stuff about the PODs, though, on the interwebs. I personally really rate them for home studio and practice stuff. For example, I take my Dave Hall to band practice (in my drummer's studio) as it is small. If the POD I have were a POD rather than a rack version, I would take that instead. They can be had for not all that much moolah too, to boot!
2. Dave Hall does a great valve pedal that does everything you want - mp3 input, headphones out, DI. The headphone out is too noisy to be used on mine, though. Otherwise, I would look into a Line 6 POD which (if it has an mp3 input...I'm not sure) seems to tick all your boxes. I use a rack one in my home studio and love it. There is a rather large thread about them on here at the mo.
3. I thought it might be something like that.
4.
Here's my new rig. I am seriously impressed by both the head and the cab
Groan...GAS...GAS to change my enormous GK rig to something both lighter and smaller...must resist... What is that small box next to the head?
5. I had a different Fender 12 string which was rather poorly built. I think that there is a reason that Fender are the top dog when it comes to electric guitars and basses but hardly see a look-in when it comes to acoustics.
6. Oh my word...an email from Dave informs me that everything is mostly done and will be posted off to me next weekend. Am I excited?
7. Excellent work...this is one to watch!
8. Hello Up for grabs is an EMG 40J pickup with all the bits and bobs included. This means that you will be buying: The EMG 40J pickup Volume pot Tone pot Quick-connect cables (to connect pickup to the pots, pots to jack etc) The board with the connector bits on A Switchcraft jack Wiring diagrams The black EMG box it all comes in The silver EMG box that all comes in The pickup is in amazingly good condition; I don't think it has been used, but I might be wrong. The bits and bobs look totally unused, though. I bought it a while back but didn't use it. A look on Ebay tells me that these go for £65 plus postage and Customs charges and VAT if you buy from the US or something about the same from Thomann, although they don't seem to do the 40J. Info from EMG here. It can be yours for £50 delivered! I might be interested in trades - see my signature for what I am currently after.
9. Dave has been putting more finish on the neck and wanted to send me a pic "just to show you I’m actually doing something!!" One or two weekends to go, he says. I can't wait, I says!!!
10. A broken thumb? That sounds terrible!
11. Purchased a Fender neck plate from ambient - no problems at all. Thanks!
12. Thanks for the kind words, folks. Yes, this bass is coming along very nicely. Our Dave is a wizard at this!
13. A photo of the neck with a coat of nitro on it...
14.
Strange! The link works fine for me. http://home.online.nl/blablas/bass/mk4/mk4fl details.html
Works for me now, too. These basses are excellent. You are truly talented!
15. Wonderful! I can't get the "More Details" link to work, though. I would love to see more about the build.
16. Bummer...this looked interesting. Still, one experience the richer!
17. Update from Dave: Body by-and-large done, save a final sanding. The juiciest bit is that the battery compartment has been completed. We decided not to go for the Gotoh plastic housing and instead opted for a cavity with a door, held on with magnets.
18. Belittling you? Take them outside, individually, and kick them in the balls. Hard. Then resign. The band is both poison and poisoned.
19.
Is that neck pickup rout going to fit a 5 string P pickup? It looks like the 4 stringer fits but surely you will fit a 5 stringer? Aren't they longer?
Some are longer, others not. I'm going for a Nordstrand which is the same size as a 4-string.
