1. How's my singing? Not even my mother likes it. I would love to be able to sing. Lessons are on the cards.
2. That neck! What a lovely piece of wood!
3.
Thanks for the replies guys, going on holiday later today, so i'll speak to Steve when i'm back. I want to tell him politely to pull his act together and get ready for recording, he isn't willing to put the time and effort in when two of us are I think we're inclined to take my drums back and drop him.
Tell him now so he can practise when you are away.
4. Take a look at the Line 6 stuff. I bought a G30 a couple of years ago that has served me very well and hopefully will continue to do so for a good while longer.
5.
Thanks for your help and to everyone that contributed n this thread. I have know found the right pots in the States, couldn't find them anywhere in the UK.
Link or more info? There will be someone else looking one day who will find this thread!
6. I am still amazingly impressed with the wonder that is my Warmoth Jazz V that I put together last year that I have decided to make a fretless version. This will be: Warmoth neck: Deluxe 5, flamed maple, Indian rosewood, lined fretless. Finished in nitro by the same guy who did the fretted bass. Stainless steel inserts to allow for frequent neck change without damage. Hipshot Ultralite tuners. Hipshot 2 + 3 string retainer. The rest of the project is going to be done at a later date when funding allows, so this thread will run for about a year, possibly more. Right now, it will be the same as the fretted: Warmoth Deluxe 5 Jazz body, alder, white nitro, double battery box on rear. Hipshot A bridge Tort scratchplate Chrome jazz control plate Seymour Duncan pickups However, I am tempted to do something different. I am thinking about a preamp and perhaps even different pickups. Joy!!!
7. Thanks for the response. I'm interested, but nothing firm or anything yet.
8. Would this fit on a standard Jazz plate (with extra hole drilled for the switch), or are the pot shafts too long?
9. My understanding is that the clear coat over the white is the one that yellows. Hence, my decision to paint my Jazz white with no clear coat.
10. Does "never been gigged" mean "doesn't stink of smoke from the pub"? And when the smoking ban was introduced, the saying continued?
11. To save everyone else from googling him, he's the bassist in the Foo Fighters.
12. You are right - the Behringer tuner is rotten. I am not sure a rack mount tuner is the way to go. I have a tuner out on my amp...I'm thinking of putting my Korg pitchblack on my rack, ie attached with cable ties, Velcro or something to a rack blanking panel. That way, I can use it on the floor if I so wish and I avoid having the extra weight of the rack tuner.
13. I was also impressed with my Ibanez Weeping Demon. I used it with distortion and it handled it really well. The band has called it a day and the other band has no need for it, so it is in a drawer at home waiting for another band to come along!
14. Interesting and inspirational - thanks for this.
15. Neer mind. Joking. I have had too much sugar. Edit: like this guy, I meant.
16. So you don't have a combined bass and amp in your face?
17. If the sound is in your head, and you spend X hours and £x trying to find it, it will be wrong. Think how your own voice sounds in your head when you speak, and then listen to a recording of it! But to answer the question, it's in my head. Tommy Shannon's live tone at Montreux 82 as interpreted by my ears and memory. Edit to say: ...in my current band. In my metal covers band, it was the sound which supported the music the best. The same goes for my current band, of course. I perceive that to be Tommy Shannon's tone at Montreux 82. Nice.
18. Nah, because there would be the book of terms and conditions next to it. Problem solved!
19. Being a band jukebox has always been a dream of mine. A book at the front of the stage with a list of all the available songs...request made...band plays track.
20.
My FrankenJazz Snowy
Oh helloooooo
21. Hmmm. The Ebay one has a red LED on the edge...not sure it's the same one. I can't comment on whether it is priced right. I was knocked back by the kind-of-stained-black finish on it.
22. Occasionally, I browse Ebay for 5-string fretless basses...even though I will never buy one as I am saving for a Warmoth Jazz V fretless. But LOOK AT THIS!!! Sexual colour. Sexual. Link to auction No link to seller. No desire for the bass, either, as I really don't like TRBs.
