Poor me. I recently changed ISP and I am no longer able to log in at home. Every other website works fine, but this one does not. When I go to basschat.co.uk it says that I am not allowed to view this community (or words to that effect). It looks like I have been banned! I have phoned my ISP to ask them whether they have blocked Basschat, but they said that they don't block any website. I am unable to access Basschat via my mobile if using my home's WIFI, but I can if I use 3G roaming. Surfing BC at work is not really an option (although I am doing it now - ha ha!). Any ideas what the problem is? It could be my router, but why would it only block this website? This has been going on for about two weeks now. Any help appreciated!

My problem is similar enough not to warrant its own thread: In the picture above, there is a star next to "New Basschat Features". Clicking this star will get the viewer to the first new post on the thread, I believe. I have now lost all these stars/dots and wotnot. It's especially annoying with huge threads like the Bad Jokes thread. Is there a way to get this back? Is it me? The option was there last time I looked, but not this morning and I haven't been into my control panel at all.

I voted no. If your amp dies and the other player does the honest thing, you won't get a new amp or cab straight away. There is the hassle of buying replacements etc and then breaking them in. If the other player has a double bass, then there should be a car involved somewhere. A smallish amp shouldn't be too hard to bring along with the double bass.

Fodera is yuck, but that Zon would look lush if you would just take the masking tape off the fingerboard!

I found that I could hardly hear myself in a not-overly-loud rock rehearsal with a GK 2x10 and a GK 400RB (180w at 8ohms) at almost full whack. Although your amp is more powerful than that, I don't think that a 2x10 pumps out enough air to be loud enough. Edit to make comment marginally useful!

I've only owned F (Fender), H (Harper - rubbish, never again), I (Ibanez) and W (Warmoth). Now that I have narrowed my bass ownership to some great I and W, I feel no need for any other letter!

Sigh...I bought my first bass in Rockbottom in 1992. Ibanez PJ copy from 1977. I was in there a number of years back and bought a beater guitar for modding too. So many memories.

Files are here and the nut is now filed and ready. G string off and flatwound G on; the rest will follow when I get a moment - I am back at work now. All strings are going through the bridge and not the body. It is all so nearly finished...all that is left to do is intonation, string height, relief. Expect pics of finished product in 48 hours or so!

[...][/quote] I've not found one that I like as much as my Ibanez. Up until my very nearly finished Warmoth Jazz came along, I only played Ibanez. My SR1205 (older model) is the best bass I have ever played and the SR705 I have is the one which made me realise that 5 strings were for me. I even found that the neck on an Ibanez acoustic guitar was perfect for me too! I can't go wrong!

I don't quite get the question - what is it that you need help with? Here is a pic of a 1960 Jazz control plate: Note the two resistors - one coming from each volume pot, joined up together going to the jack. This is supposed to reduce/remove crosstalk from the two tone pots. The resistors are supposed to be 220k, [url="http://www.crazyparts.de/assets/s2dmain.html?http://www.crazyparts.de/00000098e9083ff04/00000099130f4ec02.html"]according to this site[/url]. Go for it, Andy! Warmoth quality really is great, and this bass is a real player. I also made a Warmoth Strat a while back - rear routed, two EMGs, Floyd...and hated it. It was my fault, really - I should not have gone for the Floyd. I sold it at a tremendous loss and used the cash to buy the body and neck for this bass. Circle of life!

If that delays the inevitable by 50 years, all of today's instruments will be worn out by then and there will be no instruments and no wood. Still, we would get another 50 years. But it won't solve the problem of finite wood sources and a finite lifespan of our instruments. The wood will be cut down anyway, whether they make guitars out of it or not.
