1. I haven't played that many multiFX units, and those that I have were mostly on guitar and made before 2000 - so take what I say with a pinch of salt. I have never played a multiFX unit that had better effects than normal pedals. In an ideal world, I would have pedals for everything and no digital stuff at all. But a good mixture (and sensible too - can't have 50 pedals at your feet) would be to have the more mainstream stuff (overdrive, distortion, chorus) in pedal boxes and the seldom-used stuff (phaser, delay, EQ, volume etc) in a multiFX unit.
2.
JimBob no worries, but still trying to sort some packaging!
Phew! Glad to hear it!
3.
Combo now sold. Subject to collection. Cab still up for grabs.
I definitely want the cab! I replied to your pm yesterday!
4. Possibly interested in the 1x15 cab. Courier collection ok?
5. Nice - cheese rock is where it's at. Welcome to the board!
6.
If you decide to split them then I'd be interested in the 700RB head and I have the money ready for the right price.
I'd like to put myself in the queue behind Delberthot for the 700RB.
7. I've only tried the Behringer one I have and it is rubbish. I'd like to get a Korg (if they do one with a light underneath it) at some point, but I'm surviving rather well with a small handheld Korg tuner and using the Tuner Out on my amp.
8.
altho I've always fought to be a free man and own as many basses as I please - I'm all in favour of being gas free because GAS always leads, inevitably, to FART - Feeling A Real Tart ie. too many basses induces a Catholic upbringing guilt type neurosis of having indulged too much - which bass do I play, which bass is to be THE bass, which bass will give me THE sound...a sure path to madness and sleepless nights. Happily now trimmed down to three, what I consider, quality basses. (For now)
Interesting. I have found that my pent-up GAS has been released as GRUNT - gear reduced to unemotional necessary tools. Do I need a new bass? No - so I don't get one. Do I need a new amp? Yes, my current is underpowered. So I get one. Got GAS? Just GRUNT.
9.
Bit of a long shot bit is it 90's short lived American TV show Early Edition.
I loved that. I watched the whole thing recentlyish and it was excellent, although it really went downhill - and rather quickly too. So excellent to begin with, then.
10. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there is a Hiscox case inside. It's hard to tell from the photo, but I reckon it's a bass case and not one for guitar (that this is a bass forum helped me decide too). No idea what is inside the case, or if there even is anything there.
11. Couldn't you have done it quietly, ie without posting about it here? You got the endorsement deal to give the brand publicity; the end of the endorsement is a shame but understandable, but posting about it on a board of potential customers could well be interpreted as a slap in the face.
12. I'm caught in a YouTube vortex of Chuck Brown...very funky indeed. Great bass sound too.
13. Here are my two Ibanez 5 strings - an old SR705 and an SR1205. I've upgraded the pickups in the SR1205 - the ones in there did not work well with the low B. I've got my eye out for an SR1206 as my next purchase. I love the Ibanez range - I also have an old PJ and I sold my SRX500 a few months back.
14. Here's mine. I replaced the Trace rig that was in my earlier post ages ago, and also gone to 5 strings. Ibanez SR705 (old model) and my main bass, the SR1205 Gallien-Krueger 400RBIV Gallien-Krueger 212SBXII Marshall 115 (but with a replacement speaker) Planning on upgrading to the 700RBII and losing the Marshall for a GK 115SBX to give me a matching rig.
15. I moved to 5 strings in the summer and found it not difficult at all with an extra string. Like Doddy above, I became used to it in a very short space of time and, barring a couple of times hitting the B string and not the E, I've had no problems at all. I don't use the extra notes all that often, but I find it easier to play some songs further up the neck and I really enjoy the tonal difference of the fretted E. In the two cover bands I'm in now, I could easily do everything with four strings, but I don't want to limit myself to that. With the music I play, and the bass I have, there's nothing I can't do - and no tone I want/need - that I can get with a 4 which I can't with my 5. Love it!
16.
[...]. JimBOB: Yes, there is a swedish bassforum, www.pratabas.se There´s about 1700 registered there I think and it´s been up for about 3,5 years I think. Welcome top pop in. We had a Bass-weekend in Glanshammar nearby Örebro both this may and may last year and there is going to be one int 2010 as well. Around 60 bassists in one room with around 30 amps and aprx 200 basses in the same place... Really nice!! Berbeque, bassdiscussions, workshops, beer for those who want it.... [...]
Thanks - the forum looks good. I'll have a closer look at it later.
17.
Ahhh, I have to confess that I'm an immigrant to scandanavia. I'm only here for the snow, the trees and the lovely blond ladies
Me too, except I moved here for the dark winters and high taxes.
18. Love my GK 400RB but looking to upgrade to the 700RB or above, love my GK cab and am keeping an eye out for a 15" to put under it. Sounding good makes me play better, which makes me sound good...
19. Bump! Had some interest, but I don't know whether that interested party is still interested. I'm still open to the idea of a trade but really would prefer cash.
20.
Not with a bass, but since I've lost some weight, I got a new suit for the holiday period and had to take this to show my mum/sister!
Good God...smile? You look like you just found out you aren't real.
21. Hello and welcome to the forum! I'm in Örebro. Where are you? and...there's a Swedish bass forum?!?
22. It's time to upgrade my lovely GK 400RB-MkIV. Details according to GK: - 280watts (4ohms) [180 at 8ohms]. - Active 4-band EQ. - Adjustable Contour, Presence & 4/5 String voicing - Boost (Valve Effect) - Effects loop, Tuner out with Mute - XLR out with Level, Ground Lift & Pre/Postswitch - Speakon & 1/4"outputs [PLEASE NOTE that this amp does not actually have speakon outs at all. I don't know what GK's website is playing at] - 19x3.5x8 (2 rack spaces) - 16.5 Ibs. Manual here and addendum here Pic: I have the metal round things that go on the rack ears, but had to remove them so I could close the rack lid (on an earlier rack). They and the screws for them will be included. One of the screws on the rack ears is really stripped, so one of the rack ears is very hard to remove (I haven't been able to do it, but I haven't needed to either, so I haven't tried very hard). This is an excellent amp, and I love it so much that I am going to get another GK. It's in pretty much perfect condition (ignoring the rack ear screw), and I have had it racked most of the time. Trades: GK 700RB MkII (I'll chuck in a £100 or so) Or £200.
23. Bump. Giving that Carvin some serious thought, but rather interested in a straight sale.
24. I'd like that. No money right now, sadly. Have a bump.
