3. Now remember, no waking him up at 3am on a sunday insisting he needs a lesson there and then.
4. Caught them by chance at Glasto in 1990 (I think). Completely blew me away. Surprisingly, I don't have a single Cure album in my collection.
5. I remember reading a piece somwhere where this guy was putting the case that the sampler was the first really true advancement in music and composition since the piano. I think he has a point. edited for drunken spelling
6. I have no problem with it as long as the original artist is credited. Let's not forget that it can re-ignite interest in some long forgotten classics and encourage the public to seek out the original.
7.
I say go for it, but maybe make the focus of this project trying to make the bass look and feel good for as little money as possible. That way you can teach yourself loads about modding and it won't really matter when you screw stuff up. Then, when it's all finished you'll have aquired a load of knowlage and saved some cash to put towards building a better bass.
this
8. Would have loved to come along and meet everyone face-to-face but it is the good Lady Torch's birthday tomorrow so I'd better spoil her.
9. I heard that Macca went for the hofner over the Gibson as it was a cheaper copy.
10. He's alright and he don't care, he's got thermal underwear the damned
11.
"and then one day you find, ten years have gone behind you. No-one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun". Time by Pink Floyd
shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
12. Gimme an ooh, gimme another ooh, gimme one more ooh, put them together and what have you got? Goodies - Funky Gibbon
13. Boing, boom-tchack. Kraftwerk
14. One of my legs is shorter than the other and both my feet's too long. Frank Zappa - Dancin' Fool
15. Stopped smoking ganga recently?
16. This is a band shot from our trip to India in 1990. I'm on the left. the matching shirts were unplanned.
17. How about something like a Boss line selector pedal?
18.
Thanks! Would it work by plugging something that into the bass then running a cable from each side work?
worked for me. like I say, very lo-tech but cheapest option.
19. Of course an A/B type of box/switch would give more control. Still not that expensive though.
20. I picked up a mono version of one of these from Denmark Street a few years back. Rudimentary way of splitting from the bass to two amps, it worked. Cheap as chips. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-4-Cable-STEREO-Splitter-Adapter-1-x-6-35mm-Jack-Plug-to-2-x-Female-Y-Sockets-/270926663035?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item3f147ccd7b#ht_2307wt_1182
21. Funny, I was just thinking about this this morning. Jamming with my daughter and she was using a capo. I was struggling to transpose in my head quick enough and she suggested I used one. Got me thinking.
22.
He has no finesse, a completely naive musical approach, uses a bass in a way it was never intended .. but you know what, he's a bit of a genius in his own f***ed up way. We should greatly respect Hooky as someone who did it in the only way he knew how to, and for truly expressing himself and not trying to be someone he isn't. 99% of us are just being someone else with a titchy little gloss of our own personalities as the cream on the huge bass trifle.
agreed.
23.
Miles Davis regularly turned his back to the audience when he performed. Did not seem to bother anyone, as they were there to listen as much as see.
I went to see Santana 20 odd years back and he did exactly this. P*ssed me off no end, I didn't pay to see him treat it as a rehearsal.
