Im after making an SB-1 bass clone, and im thinking of buying the G&L saddle lock bridge, and spraying it black. Basically as the picture below. Im just wondering if anyone knew how the old bridges were black in the first place? I wish there was a trove of info about the old G&L's in the same way as there is flyguitars.com for gibson, and that site that i cant remember the name of for musicman. Any info on this, as well as the scratch plates they used would be appreciated.

Ive just stuck in a set of '86 gibson pickups into my epi tbird, and i dont think i like the sound of them. And that got me thinking, what do the epi tbird pickups look like under the epoxy? I had a look around the internet, but havent been able to find anything. Its mostly curiosity, and i would be happy if someone could tell me.

Strings Won't Grip On Geddy Lee Jazz
tommorichards replied to spongebob's topic in Repairs and Technical
I had this problem with stringing my bass up the other week. Turns out i cut it too short, so it wasn't getting enough grip, and slipped out as i was tensioning it. I found a solution though, instead of buying a new string -
Saw this on gumtree. Ive been wanting to do it with a modulus for ages, but this guy made a copy of fleas bass with a fleabass. Looks pretty cool, but a bit high up there for what it is. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/flea-bass-replica-red-hot-chili-peppers-make-me-an-offer/1064058854#photo-content
Lots of folk on Talkbass have tried this. It seems you would have to fan them out to avoid them hitting each other. A pitfall of the smaller headstock. And those ain't lollipops either ;-)
Did any of these chaps have a thread about it? googleing isnt helping.

Ive recently acquired an epiphone tbird from here, and as i want it to look more classic than new, im wondering if anyone out there has swapped the tuners from the small ones to the lollipop style ones? Basically from this To this And if they have, what tuners did you use?

I know a few people on here have a feedback page, which acts like the ebay one, though allows for more details, so you can see if they have one. Their topic post, and join date can also allow you to see if they are new to here, or if they're an active member of the community. If they're an active member, then id be more trusting of them when compared to a new person with minimal posts. Guarantee wise, besides trust, i dont think there really is a way around it, unless you want to use paypal and do it as a sale transaction. Ive done a few deals with people abroad on here, and each and everyone has gone smoothly, luckily. Are you the one buying from abroad or selling to abroad?

Im gonna say that your worries about it getting dirty are entirely justified. My denim bass ives used on and off just for practice over the last few years, and it has gotten quite grimy. So yeah, i think that this bass is more of an art thing than anything else, lest the player wants it to end up like the jeans of the motley crue gang.

If i were to send one, i would probably grab a box from halfords, and then cut and shape it to the cab. As their cardboard is fairly thick, it should have any problems as cabs are generally pretty rugged. With combos, i would put a fair bit of padding around the knobs and controls. Also, if the unit had carrying handles, i'd leave them exposed for the delivery men to use. Other people may get a proper sized box and wrap the ever loving heck outta it, but as i said, thats how ive done it in the past.

Sons of bitches stole my idea! Ive had this for about 7 years now. But to be honest, i think theyve done a better job.....

I found that, and most people probably know this, that i could get this sound with a guitar and octave pedal. Admittedly, it subtracts away what it is he does with the bass and the array of effects, but my god did i have fun playing little monster with it. I uploaded it to my soundcloud so you could see how fun it is. Bear in mind im a bit rubbish. https://soundcloud.com/samohtdrol/little-monster-guitar-tryoutmp3 Also, thanks to this site, i found this band. And for that i am eternally grateful to you all.

Got this sweet son of a bitch for sale. If you're looking at this, then you know its fabulous as balls. But for those who dont, let me tell you. This bass produces bass out of its ass, and the good kind too. You plug it in, you control which badass pickup goes to the amp with the state of the art selector. You can choose the monstorous neck pickup, the honky as pug bridge pickup, or even a combination of them both if the devil is caressing your sack. Not enough? Okay then, how about you being able to wield the amount of music that each pickup is allowed to send to your hulking amp via a separate volume control, as well as making them as bassy as you like with goddam dedicated tone controls per puppy. Not tickling your fancy yet? How about if i add that this sea demon has received new machineheads cos the old ones couldnt handle the amount of power this bass produces. And, if that still isnt tickling your chin with a chicken feather, then how about the fact that i pulled out a string retainer from a block of brass the size of a large family car using only the rarest hens teeth to carve it, and then welded that mother trunker to the bass with some of zeus's personal olympus screws to give that "goddam vintage look" to this road stealer. Hell, i wont even go into the fact that there are smashed up sea creatures adorning the goddam fretboard just so you can look ultra fancy while playing 2000 BPM on stage for all the people to gawk in amazement at your gargantuan prowess. Well, i could go on about this air rippers ability to make the greatest music you may have ever played, but the skies are calling, so ill throw in 2 pictures for now so make your mouth utterly damp. Heres a picture where i only just managed to fit the beast in, so look at it until your eyes bleed. And here is the only picture ive managed to take of the string retainer without the camera exploding into a million pieces. Anyway, you want this, come and claim it from the depths of new brighton on the wirral. Dont worry if youre too scared to come, ill mail it out to you at a excess cost of £25, so make your decision wisely. If you feel as though your money would catch fire if you tried to hand it over to me, i may consider unburnt instruments in part exchange or full trade, so, theres that. Peace. *NB, some remarks may be exaggerated, others may be underwhelmingly undetailed. GONE!

I totally was expecting it haha. I have no idea who the charles mingus is, but there were a few things with a black dude on which i threw away.
Read about Royal Blood in another thread in this forum last week, and now, having exhausted their youtube presence, I'm waiting for the postman to deliver a 7" single by them. Good noisy stuff.
You mean this son of a bitch which i received this morning?
