1. lovely. this knowledge has now been stored into the brain for future reference regarding active pickups.
2. well, i got some jazz pickups made by MEC, and i checked for a resistance. Its about 62k. Thats pretty high, yeah? I assume they are active as well as they have a red wire. So, is this a normal resistance? and why that hot?
3. well i measured them and got a resistance of 13k. so theyre hotter than a P pickup.
4. the weird thing is though, with two different sets of pickups, its the same low volume. Ill have a looksee at the weekend at it. I was just hoping for some "its this! do this, and its fixed" type ideas. Cheers for the ideas.
5. passive. two vol two tone.
6. I got a 5 stringer. Peavey international bass. Problem is, its output is quiet. Not out of phase or anything. just quiet. Could it be the pots that are doing this, (i havent had time to look at them) The pickups measure around 13k a piece, so theyre not the problem (which i thought was) Any suggestions>?
7. i think the price may be a bit high seeing as how you can get a EB3 (admittedly an epiphone) for around £150.
8. where the hell are pictures man? thats the only reason i popped into this thread
9.
Wish I'd seen the Matsumoko first it looks cool and I love the EBO / SG shape seems pefect for joining two together Kev
Well, another one has come up if you are still looking.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1970s-double-neck-6-and-4-string-guitar-/140937849753?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123
10. it is, but it may need a little refurbishment. Got a few stickers on the face too. Heres a pic
11. Bump for a no reason, clean up type thing. Buy my thing. Buy it. This thing i mean. Not the word "it". Thats not really possible to have possession over an english word. So, in summary, buy my thing. the thing that is advertised in this area of the internet, that you have just viewed a picture of. that thing. End of message.
12.
Why would it quarter it? Zs in series add, Zs in parallel, if there are only two, divide by 2. Same as cabinets. 2 8s in parallel = 4 ohms. I gigged the bass last night. Great! There was the occasional bout of of finger acrobatics while adjusting to the scale, otherwise very impressed!
But you mentioned that the total resistance in series is 22k. That means that each coil is 11k, so in parallel, it would be 5.5k Unless you meant that each coil is 22k, in which casse it would be massive hot in series (44k)?
13. says minimum 1000 order. Thats a tad high
14. Basically im after some of the classic radio knobs used on the pre eb stingrays, like the one shown here from gareths 77 stingray bass (for sale) I have found a source, but as they only ship from the states, shipping is £16 flat rate. So as these are £3.50 a piece, unless i order a few, it will be rather expensive to do so. So, im wondering if anyone who is doing a replica project, or wants the classic look, wants to add in to the shipment so we can all split the cost of shipping. This also saves me going a second route of buying a load, then selling them on here. The link for them is here: http://uk.farnell.co...ator/dp/2057013 (note that the item is on the uk store, but located in usa) Heres a pic anyway And as you can see, i think that they are pretty much the exact same ones. So if anyone is interested, pm me with how many you are after, so i can work out a total unit cost. End message.
15. seems as though its been taken down/expired. Maybe they were told from a reputable source about it or something.
16. This link is for a sat nav thats in repairs and technical issues? Is this bass related?
17. whats with the hack job statement? does he alter these himself? Whats the vibe about this guy?
18.
To get the bite, you do a simple electrical mod. The TEB101 humbucker is a 4-wire jobbie. Under the plate is a taped pair, red and white. Solder red to ground and the white to the green wire on the volume pot. This puts the pickup into parallel mode, halving the impedance from 22k (HOT!) to around 11k, not too far off a standard P-bass pickup. Voila, lots of zing and bite, enough for me to go get some TI Jazz Flats to fit it.
But wouldnt sticking it into parallel make it around 5.5k? Basically quartering the impedance? Also, that bass is very tempting for me. So i need some pictures asap
19. Could be as above. I once spent £5 on some bass strings, and they were pretty much dull and lifeless.
20. yeah dude. To be honest, its mainly for the pickup spacing. Ive had a look at the pickguard, but i prefer things in front of me that arent printed dodgily
21. Ah, so you bought it. I was tempted to bid myself, but thought better of it at the last minute. Good stuff. Were you planning on keeping the pickguard? If not, could i get it as i bought some G3 pickups and would love to make a template and another one from it.
22. go on, buy it, then make a diary.
