1. Sounds like what i used to get with my shortscale. I had 3 sets of different branded flatwounds and the E was dead on all of them. I just left it in the end. I got used to the sound. As i was told, there is nothing that can really be done about it as it was mentioned above, that the shortscale along with flatwounds causes the mutedness.
2. I just got into my band on joinmyband. Bandmix is alright, but to contact anyone, you need to be a premium member, unless they're sneaky enough to leave a phone number in a description.
3. I got this pickup, and it sounds amazing http://www.axesrus.co.uk/Axesrus-P-Bass-Pickups-p/b101v.htm
4. Thanks man, thats not a bad idea
5. Thanks for the ideas, but I don't think I can get the tape off without messing the coil up. I may just send it to the guy. It's been a while since I bought it so I think the cost will feel diluted if I send it
6.
The two for £1 packs are zinc, which don't have the same life or current levels as alkaline. They're also more prone to leaking. The comparable alkaline ones Poundland do work out more expensive than the ones in the link. Though of course if you don't have a use for 10 batteries or need them today pound shops are your friend.
Wow. I didn't realise the difference. I have them in all my basses
7. yeah he could. £20. But that'll be £45 for this pickup if i do, and im not sure im there yet
8. 2 for a pound at poundland. kodak ones
9. Its wrapped in paper and covered in a varnish. Looks sealed, and measures the same outside the case.
10. yeah. i talked with that guy. Says it looks like someone has tried to do something with the coil, and basically broke it and now the coil is shorting or summat. Drat. paid £25 for the sucker
11. well seeing as how the fleabass is a roundabout take on a stingray, i cant say it would be that bad with one of those stingray copy preamps in.
12. Got this from here a while ago, never found a use for it. Great condition. Comes with tuners too. ive just never found any project befitting it. As title says, £50 posted ono. Also, trade wise, im after a 20 fret maple fretboard bass neck, fretted. Preferably with an angled headstock. Pics, and apologies about the poor lighting.
13. whats the length on this weirdo? (the strap, not you)
14. bumparoonie with more pics of westone
15. Ive got a set of jazz pickups in my vintage jazz copy. Sound amazing. Just like a jazz should.
16. Get the pacemaker plugin for winamp. Ive used it to transcribe a few songs. You can slow speed without altering pitch. Its also great for turning slow rock into speed metal http://www.surina.net/pacemaker/
17. do the pickups have magnets glued on the bottom or are they magnetic slugs?
18. Might be an idea to post this in the other musically related stuff section. Thats where you normally find preamps.
19. Some of greendays older stuf, longview for example
20. It measure 5.5 ohms. Not kilo ohms, but ohms. Is that normal?
21. Hello friends. I like pickups. Its weird, but i do. However, ive been looking round, altering keywords in google trying to find out some more information on two particular ones. The first is the classic gibson EB sidewinder pickup, and the second is the 71 tele bass pickup. What im looking for is lots of pictures of a disassembled one, and for the gibson one, maybe a how2 kinda thing. Sometime in the future i hope to make pickups for fun, and these intregie me. So any information and directions you lovely people can give me on these pickups, i would greatly appreciate.
