    Little update: Im going to be trying out a little buffer for those who require the blend pot as some who have built it with the blend pot say it causes treble loss, so we'll see how it goes. And i havent yet ordered the parts, but that should be happening in the next 2 weeks.

    Not p90's, the p90 is a single coil with more wire than a strat style single coil, these are just normal covered humbuckers.

    It was the older one with the sweep. I loved that little thing. Not too sure what it does, but makes a slap sound really good.

    Ah, im not too fussed on necks, but i prefer a slimmer one, and the ibanez is perfect. I also played a tokai thunderbird, that too was pretty good sounding, but i think i preferred the ibanez. So the yams are known for thick necks?

    Would you trade for any of these basses? The jazz is a lovely vintage brand one, with wilko pickups and feels and plays like a real jazz.     It sounded amazing. I went to a music shop in liverpool, and saw they had one, so gave it a go. the neck was amazing and thin, the pickups and the eq were fantastic, especially with the arch they have so you can't dig in loads. and the slap/fingerstyle control was fantastic. I now know i need one. Any you guys got any?

    Just bought a set, and to let people know, its magnetic polepieces, no slug, so thats awesome. gonna install and try in a bit.

    it is a celestion unit ct15-150. Ill have a check with trace about it. i may also have a go at the copydex thing, but the tear is right at the seam, so its a bit awkward. Thanks for the suggestions.

    My trace combo started making a farting sound recently, so i diagnosed the problem to a tear in the surround. So im not too sure what to do now. Should i contact trace about a replacement even though its about 15 years old, or get a new driver, in which case, what am i looking for? Any help is appreciated.

    I just grabbed a sanding block and sandpaper and went to town. Smoothed it off with an abrasive sponge pad. Feels awesome. Havent tried it on a finished neck though, but i agree, turned a cheap MM copy neck into something almost like a real one.

    I didnt notice much of a difference with the bright switch, then someone mentioned changing it from a 1.8nf to a 4.7nf. Seems brighter now....

    Im interested in trying one for a while, but don't want to commit to buying one, so i figure renting one could be a good idea, but i don't know anywhere where i can rent one. Anyone got any leads?

    I had trouble with parcel2go (yokel the courier) supposed to have been picked up on tuesday (2 packages, one cab, one bike frame, booked last saturday) Ended up getting it collected today after rebooking it twice. Ah dunno.

    the 70's is closer to the bridge. [left]60's measurements between the bridge pickups polepieces and the necks polepieces are 3 1/2" to 3 5/8", 70's are 4" if the internet serves me correctly.[/left]

    Could it be that the jack wasn't always side mounted?

    I recently bought an acoustic bass, and due to some string short cutting slip ups on my part, there are 3 different brands of strings on it now. Im thinking about buying a new set, but tone wise, im after mellowish, not too bright. Anyone got some hot tips?
