1. Ive gotten these two places from here. They seem alright http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/ and http://www.tonetechluthiersupplies.co.uk/vmchk/Timber-Parts-and-Tonewood/View-all-products.html?TreeId=12
2. i have noticed his build thread. Looks awesome.
3. I too would be interested to know who around here can knock up a bass body.
4. how are these jokes still coming?????
5. Ive got a vintage jazz style bass. Sounds exactly like a jazz.
6. I made this a few months ago, but im not happy about the weight distribution of it. I figure i may as well see if anyone wants it. Its made from yellow pine, with sapele wings. When it was first finished, it looked amazing, but something went wrong with the finish, so it went cloudy. There is also a small gap where the wings were joined on the back, as well as a medium chip. If it were properly finished in a solid coat, it would look awesome. The pickup routes are a bit rough, but a scratchplate would cover it nicely. I was going to make one, but never got round to it. I have the material to make one if anyone is interested. The back of the bass has 6 ferrules for neck attachment, and is routed for a precision type neck, with a little adjustment wheel instead of allan key. This is the body: Closeup of the pickup routes. Closeup of the neck pocket Back of the neck pocket, with the ferrules The control cavity, routed for active controls and phase switching for each pickup, inc battery route And with the covers in place I am open to offers as well as trades for pretty much anything. And if anyone is interested in the neck, £25 O.N.O, and trades. It used to be a fender shape, but i glued on wings and veneers. The is some filler visible, but a solid cover would hide this. it could also do with a refret as my attempt isnt very good. Its also not bound , its just paint under the finish, there are no markers at all on it, side or front facing.
7. I have a vintage jazz style with wilkinson pickups. sounds amazing. got it for £110 used. Used to be played in a theatrical show about queen (the band)
8.
From your term "tools", I take it you mean there's a little more to it than just drilling out the holes?
I did just mean a drill. But instead of a spade bit which i used, there are tapered drill bits which i would probably use if i wanted it perfect. However, im sure a normal drill bit and a bench drill would be alright.
9. i pick up little things here and there from songs i learn, but probably just listen and see which notes sound good when played.
10. I dont believe so. The ones in there are of a smaller diameter that the open back ones. I bought open back tuners to go on my squier affinity p bass, and i had to enlarge the holes for them. But there are tools to do that easily if you are worried.
11. Ive got this same one. Its the equivalent of a "slap switch". It doesn't have any adjustable controls, just off or on. Sounds awesome.
12. Does anyone have one of these ie, stingray style, battery covers, or knows of where to get one. Im currently turning a passive one into active, and so need somewhere for a battery, and i prefer this cover to the flip top ones.
13. what is the width of the nut?
14. i was going to suggest wax, but i thought someone may poke fun at me. How about some wood filler at the right colour, then get an artistic friend to paint it to match?
15. To be honest, you could probably use a coping saw and then as long as it was sanded smooth, its all good. However, as long as you use enough glue and clamp it appropriately, you can make what ever shape you want. I turned this: Into this: Into this: Using nothing more than some wood, titebond, some clamps, sandpaper and a wood veneer from ebay. It may be something to think about if you dont really want a tele shape, but only chose it because it fits.
16. i would definitely go second hand for that price. Some awesome basses on this forum alone are in that range.
17. s'gone folks. Thanks for the interest. I honestly didnt think there would be as much as there was.
18. Got this from one of my friends who upgraded her own camera. I dont really use it at all, but if anyone wants it, PM me. No postage required. Pictures:
19.
The amp is early 1980's. Future Amplification Ltd, from Leeds.
That's some good info. There's almost nothing on the internet about them.
20. Alright, i got given this a few months ago from our drummer who got it from his grandad. I think it is from the 70's, and i pretty much need it gone now as its quite large and i dont use it. Its got inputs for 4 instruments, a bass, treble, and master volume. I assume its 50 watts from the name. from what i know of it, it was designed to provide the low end for a PA system, using 2x12's to do so, although ive been told that due to the size of the cab, it wasn't much low end. Also, one of the drivers is broken, so it would need replacing. So here are some pictures. The whole thing The head front view The cab (a bit worn, has castors) Inside the head Im not saying it would be an awesome bass amp, but it could be used by a clever individual to make a retro looking guitar amp. Its mainly just a waste of space in my room, so lets says a loose £20 or best offer, and it would need to be collected, or have the delivery arrangements taken care of.
21.
Pics here. Sounds? - not quite as pokey as a Dimarzio but typical Precision tone. Not clear in the pics I'm afraid but the pole pieces are allen key adjustables. If you want 'the look' I could supply cream covers as an option.
.... You have yourself a pm.....
22. do you have pictures of the dimarzio p copy? Any idea how it sounds?
