1. Cool. Any chance of posting a pic of the pickups with a ruler in shot, for measurements and such. And im not exactly a pro and pickup making, but i can see what happens.
2.
A couple of tiny blobs of super glue is all you need, that way it can easily be tapped out if needs be. Did you file the slots before fitting?
File? I made them to the right shape.... seems to work. And in reply to ahpook, is anyone wants one made, send me a pm with some form of template i can use and i can see what happens.
3. yes i did. Thanks. I was just wondering as i may want to make a pair for myself. What're the resistance if ya dont mind?
4. Whats the diameter on those poles?
5. Am i missing something? £750 for a squier?
6.
Apart from the satisfaction, what are the benefits?
Well compared with my previous plastic nut, it seems "slippier" which is to say when you detune it or retune it, the string doesnt get stuck, so it results in "smoother" tuning. in my less then expert opinion.
7. Well, i went with a bone nut. I just finished making it today. Heres a picture of it finished And heres my build thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=138446
8. New Bass Bone Nut Day! I had a beef shin lying around from my friends dog with the intention of making a bone nut with it. So i had some free time today, and got on with it. Took about an hour as i kept having breaks This was my workspace. This is the blank cut out of the bone. The shed smelt quite bad afterwards from cutting it. Anyone who has worked with bone before knows what im on about. Close up view of the blank. Here it is compared to my measurements. After some more sanding and getting it the right thickness, compared to my original. Bit more finishing, and side by side. And the finished thing! Im quite proud of it. And here it is in place. Snug fit, but im still going to add some glue of some sort. Now all i have to do is make about 7 more for my other instruments. There should also be another thread along in the next few weeks whereby i am going to make my own bass body in an explorer shape using yellow pine and sapele, so keep an eye out.
9. lower price bump. Pretty much half RRP.
10. I live in the wirral, and theres nothing going on band wise for me, so i wondered if anyone needed a bassist around this area. I have a few basses, and a 150w bass amp. I may need help getting my gear to places though.
11. I hate you. This is my YOB bass, exact spec (2band eq, classic style) is amazing price and i live in liverpool dammit.!!!!
12. Try this http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showth...rip-master-this! I can go about 90 seconds.
13. Are you sure the pickups are active, and not just have a preamp? (if the pickups are active, there will be a power lead going from the battery to them)
14. Refret the neck, repaint and stick stuff in. and it would be pretty cool. Nice for £6 is for nothing but the bridge and tuners.
15.
clicky
16. are you open to trade?
17. Had this about 2 or so years now. I barely use it. So it may as well go to someone who could use it more than once every few months. It has a great range of sounds, but i prefer tone shaping through my amp, and i dont really use many effects. I will consider trade for pickups, active circuitry, or other effects, maybe even a bass body. If you can make me a reasonable offer, i will consider. Special offer: I will sell you this and this (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=136386) for £110.
18. Well from the replies, it seems like uits mainly for constant string rotation. However, i think im going to go for a home made bone or brass nut. Thanks.
19. i bought this a few years ago, but hardly ever use it. maybe once a month or two for a quick go. So its best on its way to someone who would use it more frequently. The onyl real mark on it is where i put a setting i like on it with permanent marker. I wouldnt mind trading for some other effects pedals or pickups or active circuitry. I lost the box for it, and it didnt come with a power supply. I will accept a reasonable offer.
20. You mean active preamp with a passive bypass and maybe a tone control?
21. Well now you've shown it on here, and with it being so dam cool, im not sure that you have the option of saying no...
22. Im may be thinking of upgrading a few aspects of my main bass, and i saw an ad for these. Besides being made of brass, is the height adjustment bit useful? And are they any good on the whole compared to any other brass nut. or even bone. (i have an old dog bone that is the right size.)
