1. Well. With new, you know there are no problems that could have arisen from previous owners messing with it (i.e, a fekked trussrod, broken stuff). But if you can get used from a reputable source, it comes preloaded with playing mojo so the instrument has lost the sterile aspect. That said, i have bought about 4 basses new. And sold 2 and modded the other 2.
2. Well, does anyone know where to get some cheap wood for a bass? Im considering an explorer bass build, but i need wood.
3. I asked CH guitars about a custom body, and he told me to email this guy. Ive no idea, but it never hurts to get a quote [email protected]
4. Cool. Ill have to give that a go when im free next week.
5. I have some rather large holes in my p bass from when i installed a 51 p type pickup in the neck. I used the sawdust and pva route, but its kinda crappy looking. And i plan on rerouting the pickup slots, and refinishing. Whats the best option for filling pickup sized holes in a bass, as well as an extender control cavity?
6. It may sound like a dumbass question, but by pickup cover you mean the pickup? At any rate, try a slightly larger screw.
7. Yeah, theres no underlying magnet Ill PM you my details as i await yours.
8. The one thing i do like on mine is that the neck is quite comfortable.
9. Im selling this on behalf of my friend. Its your typical starter bass combo amp. 3 band eq, cd, headphones etc. Its been used for 1 gig, and had a £40 service. Its available for pickup in the wirral area.
10. I paid £40 for mine. They're not collectibles (yet ) but if you can get a sound you like, its pretty good.
11. I have a KJB-1B (actually a KJP-1B. Sorry about the confusion) bass by kay Not bad basses. They made electric basses around the 1960's (i think they were made by teisco) and were primarily an upright bass manufacturer.
12. Would you be willing to trade? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=133405
13. they look like 4 wire conductors, so i'd assume so.
14. I have a 4 string set of gotoh jazz pickups and a set of washburn split coil jazz pickups that i would like to trade for a 4 string, 4 conductor soapbar pickup. The gotoh are made with string spacing in mind, so the bridge pickup is slightly wider than the neck pickup. The washburn set are equal in length, and were originally mounted at an angle. Pictures: Gotoh JAJ-CLA TRADE PENDING Bridge measures 95mm by 18mm Neck measures 92mm by 18mm Washburn Split Coils: Both measure 94mm by 19mm I also have a ( according to my limited knowledge) a non working preamp that goes with these htat i will throw in if you choose them.
15. I had to stick a broken bit of CD case in my neck cos it was leaning to far back. Works, and now im happy with the action.
16. Yeah. I have gotten some stuff from them in the past. Pretty good. Problem is i dont want a too high item price to postage ratio. ATM bitsbox is really good except for the drop caps. Its really the only thing im left looking for.
17. Rapid has the stuff, but £5 delivery is too much for what i want.
18. Anything that works to be honest. Im just doing a tuned treble bleed mod. But i seem to like the orange drops for tone.
19. The lower bout looks a bit ritterish. Must be for people who just love ibanez's.
20. This is what i used for my pickguard on the cheap. Good stuff. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Polycarbonate-Sheet-...=item4aa553435d To make mine I sprayed the underside black. smooth finish on top.
21. Yeah i know them too. But that stuff is expensive compared to bitsbox. Literally just wondering if any forumites round here and any extra laying around after a big order.
22. Im looking to pickup some caps (high voltage, aka drop caps, aka orange drop caps) for my bass project, and seeing the discounts for multiple items, im wondering if anyone here in the UK buys a larger than normal stock of these for lutherian purposes or such, and sells a few here to people who only need one or two of the damn things. At the moment, i am looking for: 0.47uF cap 0.001uF cap 500k res (can you se what im doing?) As well a a few DPDT slide switches (ala, Jaguar) Possibly some Spdt normal switches (ala G&L) And maybe some M3 10mm screws (for sed slide switches) Ive found bitsbox.co.uk to be a good source for some stuff, but seeing as how my order wont be shipped until tuesday no matter when i order before monday, i figure i may as well ask round here for some sourcing advice.
23. Tightening makes it straighter. The looser it is, the more the strings will pull it forward.
24. try giving it a very slight forward bow....
25. Thanks for the measurements. Im turning my P into a Jazz cos i dont use it enough and ive just listened to all of rushes albums.
