Don't forget to check the string gauge size going through the nut. To small of a string diameter through a nut can case problems also.
Good attitude, I like it
Thank you, It's just the way I am. Luckily I'm more stable with my amps. Maybe because when I was Road Rex, the (Roadie), they called me, Lord Of The Amps. The amps were my main concern.
Ah! I've always had a soft spot for SGs, and you're not helping! Congrats!
Sorry about that Chief. I'm my own worst enemy when it comes Sg Std's, and to going back to where I started from with Gibson EB series Basses from 1969 on. I started with a 1969 Gibson EB0 way back then.
You seem to get through more basses than I do!
Hi Highfox. I don't know, but I guess maybe I could. I'm not up to speed with your Axe turnover rate as compared to mine. I have gone through a good number of Axes in 46 years playing. You only go around once. Thank you Gents for the very, very kind words. And YES it will in all probability have the typical SG Std. NECK DIVE OF DEATH. And you are also right on about the 17 degree head angle breakage issue. I've seen a lot of those with my years as a retired Roadie. I still have my Fender Am.Std. Fretless Jazz, that I prefer the sound over the former Precision I sold. And I like the RH450 head, over the LM lll. So, to me it's worth it. Besides, no matter where you live, in the U.S., or anywhere else in the world, GAS is GAS! Sweetwater Sound, Sweetwater.com is the only one that I know of that has the Guitar Gallery that you can see the actual Axe, weight, serial number, and how many of the same model is in stock to choose from. It worked for me, a couple of times now.

I had GAS for a Gibson SG Std. Walnut, until yesterday when I ordered it. I should have it delivered on Thursday, Ja. 30th.

I finally pulled the trigger, and ordered a Gibson SG Std. Walnut. There were two shown in the Sweetwater.com Guitar Gallery. I kept going back to see if the one I liked was still there. This went on for about a week, and a half. GAS!!! I sold my Fender Am. Std. Precision, and a Markbass LM lll head. The SG Walnut was there still, I ordered it, and should get it in on Thursday Jan. 30th. I still have my Fender Am. Std. Fretless Jazz. It should be cool.

I use the same D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewounds, on both my Am. Std. Jazz, and Precision. .50, .65, .85, .105 I'll use the same strings in a short scale string set. D'Addario ETB92S Nylon Tapewounds, .50, .65, .85, .105, on a Gibson SG Std. They play well.

Great! Another Fretless player. Congrats on your new acquisition. Fretless are super, I just went back to one myself.
-
Fender has a hard-shell case for the Mustang. If I get another Mustang over a Gibson SG Special, I'll go for the Fender case. Tough decision here between the two short scales.

I had a PS 3-Color Sunburst Mustang, and it had a great sound to it. I sold it to a friend, but I'm close to maybe getting another in Olympic White.
My new baby:
Nice ! Candy Cola Red?

laquered (gloss!) maple fretboards why? J&D 1975 jazz bass.

Am. Std. Precision, Maple lacquered, but it doesn't show well in the photo. -
Good luck with the Ampeg PF500, from what I'm hearing about them. I was thinking about going with a BC410, but I wasn't crazy about the rear porting, as compared to the front porting on an Ampeg SVT-410HLF cab. Also, the horn on the BC410 has no control on it. The "Electric Lady", my Precision ran through the RH450. It played just as well as "Windy", the fretless Jazz did. The settings sound fine to leave them as is, for when I set it up for the Jazz. The 450 watts from the RH450, had no appreciable difference from the 500 watts from the LM lll head, for either P, or J bass. I thought this particular RH450 covered the ranges, when set that way. No drop offs of any ranges.

I went with a Markbass Mini CMD 121P That worked well. 300 Watts @ 8 ohms, 500 Watts @ 4 ohms with an 8 ohm extension cab attached.
-
I don't see them at all. A new bass, should look like a new bass. I'd rather buy a used bass for cheaper, if I wanted that look.

The Fender Precision.

Congrats on your new five stringer. It looks great! Best of playing with it.

This is my 2013 Am. Std. Olympic White I ordered In November. Still a stock color in Am. Std. Precisions.

I ran Windy, my Fretless Jazz through the RH450 on Tuesday. A rough set in, a minute of fine tuning, SHAZAM! After comparing the settings for the RH to the LM lll, they're the same as the LM lll settings. Wednesday, Electric Lady, my Precision goes through the RH450. Thursday should be the Electric Lady pumping, and thumping through the RH450. I was planing for Electric Lady for today, but a little thing called life got in the way. Look-out Thursday, the pictures on the walls will be shaking.

I'm just back to using an RH450. The only reason I didn't go with the RH750, I didn't require the extra 300 watts. I did seriously consider the RH750 though. My Ampeg HSVT-410HLF cab roars with the RH450 powering it. The only reason I had to repurchase another RH450, I sold my last one to a friend that needed a replacement head for his band tour, last minute. The night before he was about to leave on tour, his Marshall MB450H fried on him. He raves about the RH450, and his a pretty particular player.

I had an RH450 about a year ago, there a bouts, and sold it to a friend who needed a road amp fast. So I went the round a bout to another RH450. The LM lll is good, I just like the setup etc., on the RH450 better. I do think enough of the LM lll to hang on to it as a back up head. The MB CMD121P, an NY121 are a great amp too.

I just added a TC Electronic RH450 to my gear mix. The Markbass Little Mark lll head I have, is now a back up head for the RH450.
