1. I'm using the LM lll with an Ampeg HSVT-410HLF. I thought about going for the LM lll tube, until I played the LM lll through the Ampeg. I'm staying with the non-tube LM lll. It has a lot of tube sound to it as is.
2.
I think that the fretless jazz looks best with a tort plate
Happy New Year to ya' Chris. I have to agree with you. I like the Tort with the 3-Color Sunburst myself.
3. I'd go with a Fender Standard Fretless. I had one a few years ago, a good bass.
4. This is the case that my 2013 Am. Std. Fretless Jazz came in three days ago. I like the flatter case over the SKB molded case. The bass has a more secure fit, with less moving around in the older style flat hard shell case, than in the SKB molded case.
5. For me it's almost a tie between my Precision, and my Fretless Jazz. As much as I like the looks, and playability of the Precision, the Fretless Jazz has a slight edge, because of the smooth, effortless playing without the frets. They both have a great tone though. 6. A TC Electronic RH450. They really are nice heads.
7. I ordered a Jazz Black Pearl PG. The Fretless Jazz should be delivered Thursday, the 26th. The Tort PG comes off, and the Black Pearl goes on.
8.
There are some people receiving American Standards in this ABS case!
Can't figure it.
9. http://www.sweetwate...tail/JBassADMBK Sweetwater.com (Guitar Gallery/Basses) Serial #'s do seem to show case change over from about, US1304xxxx, also on Am. Deluxe.
10.
I believe this is what is now shipping with the American Standard series instruments from 2013 on-wards... http://www.fender.co...ass-case-black/ They still have SKB cases with the Deluxe series, for now.
That case is being shipped with Am. Deluxe JBasses, and PBasses.
11. You may have noticed also, the tuning keys are different also than Am. Std.'s at about the same serial #. US1304xxxx and on. The tuning key's housing has a cut out on the upper, exposing the threads on the top of the housings. This is not for Am. Std.'s only.
12. My Fender Am. Std. Fretless Jazz is a serial # US1310xxxx from Sweetwater, Fort Wayne, Indiana. It has the PRO style case.
13. Fender is going to a more hard shell case. The PRO style case you received is the right case for serial #'s about US1304xxxx and up.
14. No, but a friend had one.
15.
Nice!
I guess you were referring to the Fretless Jazz. If you were, thanks. If not, cool too. I really like the D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewounds on both Jazzes, and Precisions. The Fretless Jazz is getting a Black Pearl PG installed, when the PG shows up from Fender. I already have the ETB92 Nylons.
16. I'm waiting for this Am. Std. Fretless Jazz to show up, and string a set of D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewound strings on it.
17. Wow! Big congrats. I like the Mustang in the Olympic White. Best of playing with it.
18. Like the Rics, the G&L are very well made. I had a couple of both, I would choose the G&L.
19. I like the CS60's in my Precision. A nice full sound from them.
20.
For more warmth in your sound I'd also check out the Markbass LM3 or even an Aguilar TH500.
The Markbass Little Mark lll is a solid kicker.
21. listen to the speakers. If you run an over wattage through A cab, at higher volumes especially, if you hear what sounds like a growling gurgle sound, you'r pushing it to hard. If at all possible, stay within your wattage perimeters from head to cab.
22. Two of the Ampeg cabs I can say are quality cabs, the Classic SVT-410HLF, and the Heritage HSVT-410HLF. I can't say about the other Ampeg cabs, but the monsters are still old school Ampeg.
23. I had three 4003's, and went back to an Fender American Standard Jazz each time. The 4003 is ok, I do like the way it plays. I recently have been playing the 4003 more than the Jazz.
24. I used the Marshall MBC410 for about a year. The speaker grill stated to rattle loudly. I tried to tighten it, but with the cab being made of MDF Board - Medium Density Fiberboard, the screws never tightened back into the MDF. Try to get a cab manufactured using real wood board. GK, or TCElectronic I been told use real wood. MDF is also heavier than real wood, to make it as strong as the real wood is. More MDF is needed to accomplish that, then you have the heavier cab made of MDF. Screws strip easier in MDF also.
25. I played a few EB0's, and SG Std. basses in 45 years. I gave up on them. The Neck Dive of Death on them was too much. For my playing stance, the location of the front strap button caused the upper E side of the bass to pitch forward away from my body, changing the angle of my wrist, and hand on the fretboard. Not very comfortable to play that way. Short scale Fender Mustang basses are more my choice anymore.
