The heavy cab was an Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Cab (85 pounds). The light was Markbass CMD 121P Combo / Markbass NY 121 Cab (57 pounds total). The Monster is the Ampeg HSVT-410HLF Heritage Cab (76 pounds). I call the HSVT cab the monster, because of the monster sound it has. The HSVT is only 9 pounds lighter than the SVT cab, because of the speakers being lighter.

I went from a heavy cab, to light cab, and back to the monster cab. I'm back to a 76 pound Ampeg HSVT-410HLF cab. For my liking, the big 410 cab is a fuller sound.

I know the yellow isn't always the most popular look. Check out the Markbass Little Mark Tube head. 500 Watts @ 4 ohms, 300 watts @ 8 ohms. It has a dark front to the head, if that matters too. It Kicks!
Hi, thanks for the offer Still looking to try before I buy
Nothing wrong with that. Lozz196 on here has the CMD 121P you're talking about.
I may need to revisit the cab, I'm looking for a new cab for my Ashdown LB30. Not too keen with the TC BC212, i want something more vintage tone like ashdown or ampeg.
I had a store credit that made the Heritage price easier to swallow, than the Classic. The HSVT-410HLF is $100. higher in price, than the Classic SVT-410HLF. Like said though, the lighter weight, and the US Eminence 10's were a real factor for the HSVT for me. Both Ampeg cabs KICK.
According to posts on Talkbass, the PF800 has the same tone but better (because of the extra headroom) and no reliability problems. Several years in and the PF500 still appears to be having failures. I don't know why Ampeg doesn't try to save some of it's reputation and just withdraw the PF500.
Ampeg probably doesn't want to give up it's slot in the market place for the popular 500 watt amps. I agree though, Ampeg, Fix you problems, or drop it from the series line. Selling a defective product isn't right, and it in a way it says, they don't care about the players waisting their money on a garbage amp head. Sorry, My opinion only folks.

One reason I went with the Heritage SVT-410HLF, over the Classic SVT-410HLF, It weighs about 10 pounds lighter. It's rated at about 76 pounds. I kinda like the US Eminence 10's in it too.
Best cab ever made
If it's not the best cab ever made, it's up there. It really has a full sound, and it pounds.

There's Lozz196......... Hey Lozz, Yes, I don't regret doing a Little Mark lll head. I'm to the point of not trusting anything from Ampeg's heads, other than maybe an SVT tube head. If I do someday go for a tube amp, the Markbass TTE500 will be the amp head. The PF500 I had went back to the dealer's this morning. As nice as the Markbass 12's were, the HSVT-410HLF is a killer cab. It really worked out better going back to a Markbass head. I'm convinced the Markbass works for my taste.

I just received a PF-500, and switched it out for a Markbass Little Mark lll. I didn't like the sounds, or lack of sounds. I was won over by the Markbass Little Mark lll. The Ampeg HSVT-410 cab is a monster of sound with the LM lll.
-
I haven't heard of PF-500 issues. I did switch out the PF-500 for the Markbass Little Mark lll. I didn't like the sounds with the PF-500. Great for highs, and mids, but the lows were very limited. I compared my PF-500 to Little Mark lll. The LM lll destroyed the PF-500. I don't think the PF-500 is that big of a popular head in my area.

Thanks Gents. I'm glad I went with the PF-500 head over the 7Pro. A good friend is a guitar manger at a shop. He advised me to go with the PF-500 in place of the 7Pro. The 7Pro is having issues of cutting out. He has them being bought, and returned with the issue. The cab is awesome.

If FedEx does their thing Tuesday, I'll be getting an Ampeg PF-500 head, and an Ampeg Heritage SVT-410HLF cab. Tis the season you know.
I bought a US Standard today, after trying half a dozen different Precisions. It's a keeper, I didn't go in for one specifically, but it was just perfect and won out over Road Worns and Specials and various other Mexican P's. To be honest, none of the basses I tried were duds, just this particular American Standard had something special about it.
Congrats on your new PBass. That's cool that you had a selection to play, and choose from. What finish is the body? What wood is the fretboard on it?
-
I find the precision when played by its self is maybe not the nicest bass tone but there but there is something unique about how they sound in the mix with a band that I just have not heard from any other bass I love them! and they crop up is so many different styles of music as well and never sound bad / out of place. I will allways own a precision
I found myself liking the PBass sound more with a band, or solo playing too. The studio sounds of the PBass are great.

I'm a real pain in the Azz about D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Taperwound Strings. I just like them, they play well, sound like flats, and are kind to the frets, and the board. They are also great for fretless boards too. They last for a long time, they don't rust, splinter metal shavings, or corrode. A good gauge size, that usually doesn't need any bridge adjustments. (.50, .65, .85, .105)

It's a minor thing, but it's sooooo Cool.

Excellent taste in colors sir. I'd leave the covers in black. Just my taste though. I like the Jimi Hendrix White Strat look, even though his cover were white.
-
I'm partial to the black covers myself. That's looking good man.

The Hardshell case that comes with the Am. Std. is about a $150. up-grade over the Gig bag that comes with the Am Spl. The CS60's pups on the Am. Std., are a bit better over all than the AlnicoV's. The High Mass Bridge, allowing on top, or string through the body is a good up-grade as well. Better tuners, a better electronics set up. The Grease Bucket electronics on the Am. Spl., had some issues of readability. The Am. Std. also has rolled edges on the fretboard. Value of the Am. Std. is higher now, or if in the future, you want, or need to sell, or trade in the Am. Std. Rumor has it also that the Alder wood in the body of the Am. Std. is a better grade than the Am. Spl. Not that important but, I don't know if the Am. Spl. comes with the case candy the Am. Std. comes with. (strap, inst. cord, polishing cloth) The Am. Std. comes with 8250M, NPS, (.045, .065, .085, .110TW Gauges) Strings. The Am. Spl. comes with 7250M, NPS (.045-.105 Gauges) Strings. The Am. Std. also gives more options of body finish, and board woods. The Am. Spl. allows 4 options. The Am. Std. allows 12 options. The Am. Std. I believe is the best, most solid all around Fender Bass of any of the Fender Bass series' available at this time.

This little setup here, sounds sweet, and mellow, or loud and roaring.

I'm kicking around the idea of going with a G-K MB500 head, and a G-K 212MBE-ll cab. Any thoughts? I'd be running a Fender PBass through it. No pedals etc., just the PBass.

I'm playing a 2013 Am. Standard PBass that is very well put together. I bought mine new, but I wouldn't have a problem going with a good used Am. Standard either. It's an individual preference weather the Am. Standard is worth the price over the Am. Special for example. I think it is. I would go for a good used Am. Standard, over a new Am. Special.

I don't have neck dive on my 4003. I find it very balanced out. You may not have played to many Gibson Basses. Gibsons are the definition of Neck Dive of Death.
