1. I got into lately not touching the top of the body with my arm at all. It changes the angle of my hand, and puts it more directly over the top of the strings.
2.
Enjoying my new Cabronita P :-) probably change to flats though
Check out D'Addario Nylons too. They give a great flats sound, and last. No splintering, corrosion, etc.
3.
Slight hijack, am not answering for gsgbass, just giving my own opinion, the Precision/Markbass CMD121P & NY121 is a match made in Low End Heaven.
There you are! HEY Lozz. How are you doing? Feel free to answer for me anytime sir. I totally agree with your, "the Precision/Markbass CMD121P & NY121 is a match made in Low End Heaven."
4. I don't believe there's any brand damage by Ric protecting THEIR PRODUCTS. The Ric 4003 basses are still selling at about $1,949. They are holding up the player's end who buys one, keeping the value of it up, being a Ric they purchased. Not a cheap copy that has nothing in common with one of the finer basses made. True, Rics aren't liked by every player, but neither are Fenders, Gibsons, G&L's, etc. If you don't like a Ric, buy something else. Used 4003's in mint condition, sell for about $1,700. And they do sell.
5. On my 4003, if I want the 4001 sound, i pull the bridge tone knob up. That gives it a Classic Sound. (4001). The neck is more consistent in girth. With smaller hands and fingers, I don't grip, or wrap with my thumb around the neck. It plays great!
6. I don't have any problem with my 4003.
7. I like the sounds from the Markbass Mini CMD 121P Combo / Markbass NY121 Cab. The NY121 cab is 8 ohms, 400 watts, with a full range tweeter setting on the side. And it only weighs 28 pounds.
8. 500 Watts seems to be an industry "Magic Number." I'm not complaining, I like the response, and air push the Markbass gives me with the 2 1X12 cabs. I'm old school, you need power to push the air of sound, and a full sound comes from power.
9. At least the repeat Fender Bass Buyers have preconcieved ideas of what parts should be on the bass when they buy it. According to them. There are a lot of Fenders around, and a good number of models that spin-off from the originals. I've had G&L's, and Rickenbackers that I didn't change anything on them, other than the strings. The enormous parts availability for Fender Is the deciding factor for the mods though.
10. My Markbass Mini CMD 121P Combo running without the external cab is a 4 ohm head, with a single 12 works at 300 watts @ 8 ohms with no clipping, or heat issues. I'd give it the edge in sound with the NY121 cab, 500 watts @ 4 ohms.
11. I believe if the 4 ohms is the amps max, it will have an edge over the amp @ 8 ohms. More power normally pushes more sound from it.
12. D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewounds are very quiet.
13. Nylons have the flat sound, without the clacking on the board.
14.
Is there anyone in or around Harrogate with a CMD 121P who'd be kind enough to let me try it? Or if there are any up for sale or trade let me know. Cheers
Hello, I'm on the wrong side of the pond, or I'd for sure let you air mine out. My is a Mini Monster.

ding :(

I knew a lead player in 1971 who had a Gibson SG Custom. Pristine without a scratch, or ding on her. Until one night on stage, he had her leaned up against the front of the Acoustic 260 lead amp. A Roadie lost his footing and knocked over the 260, on too the SG. Ouch!
16. The Markbass Mini CMD 121P Combo is a little monster. 300 Watts @ 8 ohms. 500 Watts @ 4 ohms with a 8 ohm cab.
17. If we're talking about the same graphite, the neck adjustment rods in the Fender MIA basses are graphite. I don't know of any Fender, or Squier boards made with graphite. They do use Ebonol on the board of the Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass. Fender doesn't list the material used on the Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass's neck adjustment rod.

20. I don't know about over priced, but some of the most overlooked basses have to be the G&L's. I had an SB-2 made to my specs for about the going price of a Fender Am. Std.
21. A Jazz PG can be changed out in five minutes.
22. I really don't care what my Fender looks like under the PG. As long as it holds up, and plays well, fine with me. I've had to much fun with other brand basses with lousy fret work.
23. The Markbass Mini CMD 121P Combo. A 1X12 Combo with 300 watts @ 8 ohms. You can plug a 8 ohm cab into it, and it's 500 watts. The nice thing about the Markbass Mini CMD 121P Combo, it only weighs 29 pounds.
24.
Hmmm, I kind of agree. I (mostly) use a Stingray 5, I bought it used and it's exactly what I need, so I don't need to spend any more.........but........I'd love a Wal.
I thought the Ricenbacker 4003 was a bit better than a Fender Jazz, until I did some studio work in Nashville, TN. I switched back to a Fender Jazz.
25. Are you sure it's not a MIM Deluxe Jazz?
