1.
Hmm I was looking at getting one of the OTB500 heads as a trade for my SWR 700, might not be for me if you cant get any 'clean' volume?
Well, I couldn't anyway. OK so the Tribute is pretty powerful, but I had to have the gain WAYYY down low, and the volume consequently WAAYY up on the dial, and it still was not loud enough for band use in my opinion. Guess it is horses for courses, but not for me. I bet you could change the preamp valve, but that is hardly the point, I suppose these amps are meant to give a meaty overdrive out of the box, which it does (but without much top end zing). I'm not totally dissing the amp, just describing what it does, and it does this well. Blues, old school soul, motown, rock, it would be nice. Massive one trick pony, but if you like that pony, hop on.
2.
Just made a quick video of how i do it if you are willing to wait a few hours to see it?
i'd like to see this - is it posted anywhere? I can use Logic, no probs, and can record video, but have no idea on how to get the thing together in iMovie - you know, importing audio etc
3. Ok, so I played one of these today - think it was a 2by 12 combo, with the funny isobaric arrangement? Anyway, I was in Hotrox trying out pedals, as you do.... I was using a GandL l2000 tribute, and the amp was the terror bass. For those of you interested it sounded nice. Warm and thick, and quite poky in terms of volume. However, hardly any headroom at all for a clean sound. I could only get a clean (ish) tone with the gain right down, so the overall output was quiet. S, for anyone who is interested, nice amp, EQ not that versatile, great thick sound, I imagine would sit very well ina a mix, but sparkly clear tones are nowhere to be seen. Just thought I would share.
4.
Only kidding
No you aren't ;-)
5. SO it is Elixir Steels and D'addario Pro Steels neck and neck in the lead at the moment.
6. Thanks. Case closed then I guess. Reaches for wallet.
7.
+1 D'addario pro steels, they be well zingy
Do they last well?
8. Nice I also am interested in the elixir steels, as my sweat is really corrosive, and their products work well for me n my acoustic 6 string.
9. Ooooo thanks. They have a good name at least
10. Ok, so I am investigating strings. I need a really bright, cutting sounding string. Currently I use EB or Dadarrio nickel, or Rotosound steels, but none of these seem to be especially bright to my ears. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?
11. I've got a Box Of Rock for my guitar rig. It also sounds great on bass actually, and I like this one too
12. Yay I've got one of these. Proper nice guitar.
13. The inspiration to pick the bass up. Bernard Edwards. And then I realised that I sing bass lines all the time, but it was his lines that started me.
14. Excellent. I used to get this problem every year or so. That was, until I stopped listening to loud iPod music, and bought some custom earplugs for gigging. I woo was told that wax is the body defending against a noise. I repeated this to a few folk who thought I was mad. However, clearly I am not. Glad you are sorted. Since using plugs I have not had any reoccurrence. I once treated it myself, using ear drops to soften, and then our shower head on max power, in a a sort of self syrringing lol.
15. I think I'd tend to believe the sound man lol. I mix our sound. Used to use wireless, but now use a long lead, does the job. I too find the bass carries more than you think. But we try to keep our back line down so I can put eveything in the PA and control it better. Plus I never listen to what's anyone else says unless I know their ears aren't shot. Which our tow singer/guitarists are. Yet they still won't use earplugs
16. Ok this is great, I only got it a couple of weeks ago from hamfist on here. The only reason I am selling is that I actually want to get another sansamp, either the BDDI or Paradriver, so this must go to fund that purchase. I paid £55 posted, which is what I am asking now. Or partial trade for BDDI or Paradriver, cash to you, obv. Item in Nottingham Couple of marks on the bottom where I removed the Velcro I had on it, otherwise excellent nick.
17. James Lomenzo from Ashdown is a great pedal. I just got one, and it has a lot of versatility to it. Also the BDDI. I I might be getting one, in which case I might let the ashdown go.
18. So, Pedaltrain nano and soft case. I say almost mint, well, save for the addition of Velcro, it is. These are £50 new at Hotrox, although they haven't got any in stock... I think £30 plus postage, which won't be much. If anyone has a BDDI or Paradriver I will include this in a deal px. But happy to just sell it. C
