1. And a stereo pedal should be a double expression pedal Edit: Behold my fearsome MSpaint skillz! Disclaimer: THIS IS ONLY A THEORY - please check with a multimeter that the two volume channels are in fact not connected before you try this..
2. The issue (as far as I can see) is that things like expression pedals and footswitches for pedals tend to be given voltages by the pedals they are used in (the "remote" connection on a boss DS-2 is 9v as an example). If you then want to plug them into more than one device you risk shorting the pedals out. The only way to have one device controlling two pedals is to essentially have two switches (or potentiometers) in one footswitch so that they are electrically separate. A trick some people use for turning a volume pedal into an expression pedal (google it) is to connect a stereo --< 2x mono cable between a volume pedal and the effects pedal. If you had a stereo volume pedal this should be moddable into a double expression pedal...
3. A modified piano sustain pedal should do the trick. (come to think of it, an FS-5u/l or equivalent..)
4.
p.s., i realise it might be a bit tedious for you, but could you show us the signal path mate ?
And the control lines between the Moog pedals!
5.
.. whether it's a rackmount compressor designed to operate off of line level, or whether it's a compressor pedal designed for guitar/bass.
Quite a lot or rackmountable kit will happily accept instrument-level or line-level and so can therefore be used in either mode.
This is a potential can of worms! Compressors can be used in multiple ways anywhere in the chain and it really depends on which element/s you want to be effected or not.
Exactly. Personally I use mine as the first effect as it helps give a clean signal to my octave and synth pedals.
6. Schematic as in picture. Footswitches for SE-50 and DS-2 and Exp pedal for SYB-5 not in diagram...
7. Just got a new chili dog (why didn't I check BassChat first?!?!) and i'm happy with it. Bump for a great pedal - hope someone gives it a lovely home!
8. In the left-hand diagram the current for both cabs is running through the cable between the amp and the first cab. In the right-hand diagram the current for each cable is only for the cab it's plugged into. If you have good cables neither should be an issue.
From an audio and power output perspective, no difference whatsoever. From a practical perspective, on the LH drawing, if the cable coming from the amp fails then you get no output, wheras on the RH drawing if a cable fails then you'll still get an output from one cab.
Yep.
9. The EU's a Common Market - so there is no customs or import taxes. You still have to pay VAT though.
10. Just got an SE-50 off Gumtree - but it's huge! Will put everything together and put pics up soonish... still need a powerplant for the pedals though

Behringer

Picked up a 10-channel Eurodesk mixer for £90 in France which, as far as I know, still works. Have been using a DI100 DI box in various situations to reasonable effect. No complaints on either front from me...
Using a behringer headphone amp which is hissy and nasty.
Which one?
12. "Heaven" by Bryan Adams Dam - didn't look to see how old this thread was! Apologies...
13. I have the Syb-5 and have been experimenting with it for a while. It's quite versatile - you can split the signal into "dry" and "wet" and can alter the volume of each. I've been playing about with things like OD'ing the wet and reverbing the dry. Haven't got an octave - yet - but it should do the trick!
Which of these two would better do a digital buzzy synth with no envelope filter, allowing some control over the tone so I can cut the harshness if I have to?
You will definately want the expression pedal, does a great job with tone control on-the-fly.
14. Bought a CS-3 off Bassnut a while back - problem-free purchase!.
15. Bought a pedal off Shep last week, arrived in good condition, in a timely fashion, well-packed and tracked. Even gave a few ideas on how to use it!. Top bloke.
16.
The noise you are getting could be from your bass or amp and not the compressor, the compressor would increase the volume of that noise, might be worth checking first.
Gigged with it yesterday and played about with it a bit at home - it seems that the bass is picking up some of the intereference (prob from the induction loop in the venue) - when the pot on the bass is turned down the noise disappears. The CS-3 seems to amplify what's coming through, so I think you're right....
17. Have had a Boss CS-3 for a while and have noticed that wherever I use it, it seems to pick up mental amounts of interference (especially when on and "idle" i.e. when not playing a note.) and it's driving me nuts! Id rather not have to resort to having to get a noise gate. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this why people do things like Keeley mods - would that work?
18. The FS6 isn't really designed to take music signals, it's used as an "on-off" or tap switch for things like the sustain pedal on an electric keyboard or as a tap-tempo for a boss delay, etc. It just happens to have two switches in it. The AB2 literally just toggles between two input/ outputs to connect to one output/input. If you want a cheaper version of it you could try http://www.visiongui...-10_ab_box.html or the EHX nano thingy. the LS-2 is far more complicated - if you go through the manual online you can see what it does. I'm Just waiting to find one on Ebay/Gumtree/Basschat for a decent price!
