1.
I like my Squier VMJ fretless very much and I have not felt any need to upgrade it. The pick ups are good, the build quality fine and it sounds and feels great to me.
This is my experience of fretless, can't imagine I would ever need a different fretless for the amount I expect to play on one.
2. Lemme know if essexbasscat doesn't take it please. Ta.
3. Balls, it's never near me Best of luck!
4.
The website suggests it's made for valve jobbies, so I wonder if using something like a class D power amp would have any negative effects on the amp or the cab.
I asked this on Facebook, but Alex has yet to respond wanna get one ordered dependent on the response!
5. I'll even pay a sub for this
6.
I'm not one of those people though. Hence saying 'give me your best offer'. If I wanted to negotiate, I'd start by stating my negotiating position (which is my advert), which would be rendered pointless by someone who didn't bother reading it, similar to not reading the words 'best offer'. If they want the sport of negotiating, they'll have to start by making their best offer for that use of my time.
Maybe I see if differently, but isn't asking for a best offer (that might be lower than your asking price, but still acceptable) by its very nature, negotiating? Everyone's welcome to trade how they want aren't they, it's just nice if nobody takes offence
7.
I hate when you say to people 'make your best offer', they go for a lowball, and when you decline, they go to haggling. 'Best offer', so you weren't being honest with me first time, why would I continue to deal with you? Time better spent finding someone who can shoot straight.
I think that's cos people look to negotiate rather than just outright pay their top price, I mean if someone's offer was low but not far off the mark, tell them what you want, as they might want the item and rather not lose it for just and extra £x amount. Being asked 'what's your best offer' puts me off to be honest, as I wouldn't really ask them 'what's the cheapest you will sell'. If I want to offer on something, even if its a low offer, I tend to offer based on what I can afford, rather than tell someone their item is only worth £x. I guess this is where everyone differs, and at the end of it all, nobody is forced to buy or sell, so hold out for someone your happy to do a deal with
8.
I really have not felt the slightest insulted whatever price a person might offer me. It's no skin off my nose, and I can simply say no.
This sums up my opinion. I really would hate to be the type of person who could get wound up by the Internet!
9.
So do we all like the sound of a single payment for a one off advert and the option of a single yearly payment?
Aye.
10. How about a subs benefit of 1 days preview on all sales threads before it goes on free full view to all members? Might help some people grab an elusive piece of kit or bargain? If say that, plus every sale thread has a £1 insert fee would be a great plan
11. Here's an idea, how about a £20 annual subs only 'champagne room' for people who want to list and not have the silly questions and offers etc. Could mainly be used for higher end gear, but could be used for anything where people wanted to only be advertising to more known and respected buyer/sellers? That would mean a part subs sales forum only, leaving the other stuff free to view, and maybe a small percentage from those sales as a fee, like 2% or something? It would all add up!
12. Only problem with a sub to even view or post first would limit people. An example I would use is my '79 precision I have just bought, the seller, top bloke but as far as i know has only joined to sell that one bass, he admits himself that he hates computers, and the ad was put together for him by his missus, but had he needed to pay £20 up front, might well have not even bothered at all! I would then not have this bass that I love cos of that! Bad times.
13. Small percentage of each sale would be a fair way I reckon.
14. When the new classifieds came along, I did think if it ain't broke don't fix it, and to be honest I've never even looked at them after the first few days. I mainly read on a mobile and like to log in, click view new posts, and see everything. The new classifieds took that away I would say go back to how it's been, and charge a sub, it's an active specialist sales area, nobody should mind paying a bit towards that wonderful place
15. I much prefer the old style of buying and selling, but think a 36hr bump button would be good! I'd be happy to pay a sub to use it too.
16. This is an awesome build thread, loving your work Rick!
17. Shame had no takers for it in the end!
18.
Next time remind me to just offer the ticket up for nothing - really would have prefered a BCer to have seen the gig than have collected the paltry £5 the tout paid me for it.
Yeah, I offered a gig ticket for a sold out gig for free all over BC, Facebook and texts to anyone I could think of, and I had no takers! It kinda made me surprised, and makes me worry about the whole gig scene these days if its that hard to even give away tickets! Maybe everyone who wanted to go had one already, who knows.
19. Only Ric I've ever liked the look of! Nice.
20. Haha, if I was ever likely to be down there I would prob consider making an offer, but I never am.
21. Hi all, Just wondered if a couple of amendments could maybe be considered for the mobile version of the site? I've used both of these amendments when reading vinylcollective forums mobile site and genuinely feel that the use of it is improved by them! 1. When clicking a thread, from show new content page, please an it go to last post, not first post. 2. When clicking mark all as read, can it give a popup to confirm like on vinylcollective mobile site, just to say clearing everything accidentally. Obviously these aren't urgent things, and I know there's been lots of work done on site lately, but just hoped they could be considered for the future? Cheers for reading!
22. It is mate, sat in my front room in front of the TV all set up since the wife moved just waiting for my house sale to go through and then follow her. Depending when you might be around, I would check back with me to make sure it hasn't moved to Teesside! Cheer man.
23. Updated board pic, Click to enlarge - Devi Ever Bit: Legend of Fuzz and Devi Ever OK not currently connected, I use them more on guitar, and I ran out of patch leads
