1. Class B for me! Maybe Class A in the Winter.
2.
Save yourself some time?
Bit late for that!
3. If I wasn't building my Jazz to be like this I would be all over it! Annoying!
4. Having a clear out as I'm currently making plans immigrate south (and maybe beyond!) [s]Dr All Parts P Bass Neck - £45 Shipped.[/s] SOLD Bought this off mojobass earlier this year. It has never beed used and is in brand new condition. It fits onto my Squier Jazz Bass. I was going to use it as part of my jazz bass project (see signature) but I'm looking to change it for a rosewood neck. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:105183] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:105178] [s]American Fender Jazz S1 Switching pups and fully loaded control play. - £50 shipped[/s] SOLD Bought these off bass doc about a year or so ago. Been in my Squier since and they have been a phenomenal upgrade. I can supply with wiring diagram but they aren't hard to find ont he internet. The series/parallel switch is great, gives a passive bass great versatility. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:105181] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:105180] Digidesign mbox 2 Pro - £200 shipped I understand there has been some confusion regarding the advertising of hardware and software recording devices on this forum. If I have broken any rules, please contact me and I will take the advert off. Great audio interface, 2 Mix preamps, 2 Line in, Monitor Outs, 6 Line outs, 2 Headphone Outs w/ MIDI and S/PDIF. Comes with Pro Tools 8, Firewire cable & two professional balanced TRS->XLR cables. These are discontinued now but if you find them, they retail at around £500. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:105179]
5. Maybe the line out of the amp was connected to a mic preamp on the FOH desk. A line level signal will drive a mic preamp pretty hard (would almost definitely need padding). I think mic preamps have lower input impedances than line inputs, this might effect the tone of the output from the amp. But saying that, it would decrease the top end not increase it.
6. I agree. In no way shape or form does my current design have any commercial potential so I'm really effected (give me 10 years). I would imagine that there are large numbers of students who come out of uni with a product they could take into a market, I feel sorry for them.
7.
It's worth remembering that anything you create while you're at uni is actually the uni's property for (I think) 5 years.
I'm planning to redesign the vast majority of the circuit once im finished anyways. Not happy with this first design!
8. I'm having some issues with an EQ I have designed. I have attached two files, the frequency response graphs and the schematic. It won't take long to see the issue on the 100Hz and other filters. Anyone got any ideas? Frequency response graphs can be found here A cracking discussion here! made it to page 12, time for bed now though!
9.
wooah that 100hz filter is crazy!
Yeah, there is slight concern! I could PM you a copy of the schem if you think you could offer insight.
10. Aye! Well it's a hobby that I want to take to the next level, so there is no harm in being ambitious! There won't be a huge amount of progression over the next couple of months while I finish uni. Then the real work begins!
11. Ok test results haven't uploaded right. Try THIS instead.
12. It's coming along nicely. It's on holiday atm at university getting marked. Fitted it into a quality street tin (pic attached) The filters have some issues. Below the centre frequencies on the band bass filters, when summed, they cut if boosted and boost if cutted ... If that makes sense. I've attached a pdf which should hopefully make more sense of that. If anyone came up with a reason/solution for this, I'd be eternally grateful. The two mid frequencies were designed to cut out some resonant frequencies from my bass, the bass and treble were designed to be boosted.
13. incase anyone is interested I discussed this on my blog last night: http://allthatjazzbass.blogspot.co.uk/
14. It was the old, everyone thought someone else had done it trick. Now or never. Decent cash waiting if the right band is available at short notice! Dave
15. Completely understandable. Anyone?
16. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum but this is a act of desperation. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I'm without a Paddies Day band for a big event at Huddersfield's Students' Union. It's usually rammed all night. If you are a Irish Folk or Popular Covers band and can make it into Huddersfield, please get in touch, there is a gig waiting for you .... tonight!! My name is Dave, you can reach me at 07817648149. Paid by cash and Guinness. Dave.
17. I'm in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire atm but tend to get around a lot. Working out resonantly well, got a bit of supply ripple in the signal line and the FR of the bass control is a bit (ok, quite a bit) off. Deadline is fast approaching so trying to keep my head down! Long Term Idea's: Distortion circuit in series with a variable band bass circuit. (Then wired in parallel with filter circuits). Then have a separate distortion output for studio work. Revise EQ's, make more efficient. Separate Line In for reamping Compressor (wouldn't know where to start tbh!)
18. I've had a few conversations with various bass chat members about my preamp design. I'm doing it as a dissertation for the my degree. I got it up and running today, hurrah! Still in its simplest form but I can't tell you how relieved I am. So much so, I've decided to share it with the world. Check it out on YouTube HERE!! I would have loved to document the work more but it would have been far too difficult for me to keep up with the workload. Deadline is next Friday but I'm not looking to do anything major to it before then. Anyone got anymore long term ideas for it?
19. Interesting! I had this problem with a stretch of 3m cheap unbalanced cable. The shielding and core was so small and cable was so long that the capacitance of the cable was much lower than average. Blah, blah, blah, a low pass was formed knocking a load of top end off the signal. I wouldn't expect this with van damme but maybe the kicking and wear and tear of the cable has broken or thinned out some of the shielding and or core?
20. Just bought some Fender Tuners off Nick. Great to deal with, fast and safe shipping. Be 100% confident dealing with this gentleman.
21. Seymour Duncan SBP1 Gets my vote. Got one in mt CV P. The best complement I can give it is, it's ability to sound like a P Bass!
22. I once snapped a 421 clip and resorted to using an elastic band around the stand. I don't know of a alternative clip.
23. Just a quick bump. Project has came a long way in a short amount of time, its a great learning curve. Just spent all weekend sanding, take a look! .... http://allthatjazzbass.blogspot.com/
24. Fair enough. There is a tiny but noticeable difference.
25. Interesting idea. Forgive my ignorance but what are the benefits of having no load tone pot? As far as I am aware a tone pot set to "full" passes everything up and over 20kHz. Removing the load wouldn't make a difference to the output signal as the impedances preamp inputs are usually set between 1 and 10M. Am I missing something?
