I just grab a chair, flight case or crate from the venue and stick my amp on it.

Just bought a Markbass cab from Alan. He delivered it to me in Sheffield on his way up to Jon Shuker's which was massively appreciated, a pleasure to deal with.

Just bought Harry's Little Mark Tube. He posted it super quick after the money went through, really well packed and absolutely mint condition. His feedback on here speaks for itself, I can highly recommend buying his stuff!
Not my area of expertise, but I was once told that those tuners are a throwback to pre-geared pegs so probably 100 years plus in age.
Is that because they've got the sticky out wooden bits or is there more to it than that? Mine has the wooden things and that's only 65 is years old, or so I believe anyway.

Just bought an 18v adaptor from Jerry, good communication and posted out quickly (twice as I didn't manage to get it from the post office the first time so it got returned). Cheers dude!
Cars are overrated, have you seen the anti-petrol-price thread in Off Topic at the mo? Get yourself one of these, you can use it with just about any cab going, and if you can't take a cab to a gig, take this, and you'll still sound like you (and you'll sound better too cos the amp is so awesome)!
I'll have to pass for now but I'll keep mulling it over...

Just completed a compressor trade with Luis, taken a while due to unavoidable delays at both our ends but there's been great communication (and patience!) throughout and no issues at any stage. He's a great guy, wouldn't hesitate to do business again. Cheers dude, enjoy the new compressor! Tim

Bump for some sound clips. These two: Riff repeated with increasing compression and varying doubleback. 1 clean, 2 light compression no doubleback, 3 light compression full DB, 4 medium compression (attack and sustain at 12 o'clock) no doubleback, 5 medium compression full DB, 6 heavy compression no doubleback, 7 heavy compression full DB. Fingerstyle: Slap: These two flick through the doubleback settings (high, mid and full) which change the portion of the dry signal blended back into the output. Fingerstyle: Slap: Samples recorded on a Musicman Bongo 5 with fairly old strings straight into a M-Audio Profire 2626 and each riff normalised. Full doubleback on the samples is at about 12 o'clock as higher settings distort.

A friend has offered to build me a bass and I'm going to go for a 5 string fretless with an ebony fingerboard (and hopefully a whammy). I need to decide on a pickup and preamp, anyone got any suggestions for a big, growly fretless sounds with lots of 'mwah'?

I did mine a few years ago and didn't get any UCAS credit for it, but then I was going for an electronics degree... Good luck with the exam dude!

I used to have lessons with Pete Laffan who was absolutely brilliant and I (very) occasionally play in a band with Ruth and she's a great player too. -

*This be gone* I've bought too much stuff recently so I'm selling my Seymour Duncan Double Back Compressor. The 'doubleback' feature allows you to blend in some of the clean, uncompressed signal to retain tone while adding sustain. The doubleback section has a filter to allow you to blend in high frequencies, mids or full range, I usually just have it on full range although high can be good for slap stuff to add super bright punchiness. Other knobs are attack, sustain and volume. Its true bypass and sturdily built although I've just noticed its missing a couple of screws from the back, guess its always been like that and it's still solid. These retail at £130+, I got it ex-demo in October for £89.50 (I'll enclose the receipt for the rest of the warranty) and it's lived in a pedal bag since then so in good condition but has some light scratches, no original box or manual. £85 posted. Can get photos if required.

I've got a set of M-Audio BX8a Deluxe which I'm pretty pleased with, particularly when they're cranked a bit. Can't compare them with anything except a set of KRK VXT6s which understandably blows them out of the water but they're going on 700 quid. If nothing comes off on here try get a bargainous set of KRK/Yamaha/M-Audio/similar on the bay.
