Fallen back in love with it so it's withdrawn (again). Thanks and apologies to those who expressed an interest in it! Here we have my Paulman 5 string. It's been my main bass for the four or so years, its still as lovely to play as ever but I just fancy a change. Paulman was a custom make by Paul MacNab from Huddersfield, I think he mainly made guitars but the few basses he made are highly regarded by those that have played them. Unfortunately he passed away last year and the Paulman website is no longer online. It used to be knobless with the pickups wired straight to the jack but I recently had an ACG EQ-02 fitted by Ged Green in Manchester. I have no idea about woods and got no information from the guy I traded with to get it so unfortunately can't tell you what it's made from. Someone on here might well be able to help though which would be much appreciated! It's been well used in the time I've had it for pub gigs, weddings and festivals but always taken care of. Its got a splattering of varnish dings, the obligatory end of headstock bump and an inch long scratch in the varnish on the back which was caused by a sousaphone when taking my avatar picture... Also the G string tuner took a little bump a while ago and the clover bit had a slight rattle to it and then dropped off mid gig some time later. I'm trying to sort out a new tuner. Other than that all damage is superficial. Other than that we have:

35" scale
Schaller machine heads
Bolt-on neck
Cool curly moon looking fret inlays
23 (BEA) / 24 (DG) fret neck
Not sure of the bridge make, horizontal and vertical adjusters, currently ~18mm string spacing at bridge.
Delano humbuckers
I've been using this bass less since I got my Bongo 5 so I'm thinking of changing up. Tradewise I'm after fretted 5s, show me what you have. I like maple fingerboards with black block inlays and I'm not a fan of sunburst. Worst I can say is no! Photos here: http://s1209.photobu...22/Paulman%205/ Any questions please ask away. Cheers for looking, Tim

This be sold now innit. Bought this recently off sshorepunk but I've just bought a couple of amps so I need the cash again. Big, thick, soupy bass wah, 3 filter settings and volume control. And the eyes of the dog light up when the wah is on (as in the photo) which looks reet cool. Its in good condition, got a couple of small dings and some gaffa tape residue but all cosmetic. Comes with original box and instructions. I'm after what I paid - £50 posted.

NOW SOLD. Having just bought a couple of new amps to try out my EB180 is up for sale. It's been my faithful gigging companion for about six years and has been well used during that time for everything from pub gigs and weddings to festivals. It's in very good condition overall, missing a couple of corner protectors which I think I have somewhere (otherwise I'll get a couple off ebay) and it's a bit dusty. The amp isn't at my house at the moment but I'll get pictures ASAP. I'm after £125, open to offers and possibly trades.

This be gone now. Bought this roughly 7 years ago when I saw in it the window of Cash Converters. Did a couple of small school band gigs with it then got an Ashdown which became my main amp. Since then its mostly been a stand for the Ashdown and sees occasional practise. It's in excellent condition (can't see anything wrong with it), 120W, 15" Celestion driver + horn, aux in, aux out & phones sockets, controls: bass, mid (with mid shift button), treble, gain and volume. All in all a quality amp for smallish gigs and practising, pretty much identical to the newer Bass Bomber 125 but with a black carpeted finish and 5W less juice. Pickup from Halifax, West Yorkshire is preferred, can probably courier it for £15 ish. [s]£100 £90 £80[/s] £70 or trade for a pedal, possibly with cash either way. Could do with a new distortion/fuzz, what do you have?

I got a Paulman 5 string a few years ago in a ridiculously fortuitous trade for a nackered old upright. Other than a couple of people I know around Yorkshire (the luthier was from Huddersfield) I've never heard his name bounded about or seen one of his basses. There's no mention of any of his basses on here other than mine and one that's appeared in the for sale section a couple of times. Just wondering if anyone else has a Paulman or has any experience with one? There's got to be a few out there! Tim

SOLD for £35 posted. I bought this a couple of months ago after playing though a massively oversized Peavey head in a practise room that had a compressor on and made me sound a bit like Les Claypool . I can't quite seem to get that super squashed sound out of this pedal (which might just be me) but it can give you ridiculously fat low end. It's been gigged lightly a couple of times in folk bands so nothing too extreme and has a couple of tiny dings on either side from transporting in the pedal bag. My board is also too full of other stuff to fit this one in so it has to sit at the side by itself and be lonely. I've got the box for it, if there was a manual I'm sure its floating round my room somewhere... Paid £55 when I got it, I'd like £40 posted or trade for something that gives me Claypool compression or something that makes a funny noise. If you want more info there's plenty of reviews knocking around the interweb.

Just bought Harry's Korg G5, sent the money and he posted it next day and he's been a great guy to deal with throughout. Top banana. Time to make some stupid noises...

What are you using to amplify your double bass?
timo replied to alexclaber's topic in EUB and Double Bass
If budget allowed for either a good amp or a good cab which would it be better to go for first?
