1.
Congratulations on the cab win! And thank god Arsenal finally remembered how to beat Chelsea haha
+1 2 reasons for it being a good day. Maybe I'll actually get there next year. Congratulations to all for making it a great day
 2.
I really like that. Nicely done, sir.
Many thanks. In some ways I'm tempted to put it on Evil-bay and see what it fetches.
 3.
It's not VERY relic is it ? Come on, do it properly
"Now relic'd" type bump
 4. Was going to be taking this to the SE Bass Bash... Here's a $@~* I can't get there type bump
 5. Feeling rough here. I'm guessing you don't all want a bad cold? Nah, thought not. See you all next year. Have a great day. Already looking forward to seeing the pics and videos.
 6.
If it was fine then it wasn't, have you tried changing the batteries?
Both batteries are putting out over 9v measured on my multimeter.
 7.
Hmmm that's a funny one I can't think of much you've not done hope you sort it mate
You're not ment to say that! You're ment to say, "Ah, change the 3rd capacitor on the left, that's gone open circuit" or summat like that.
 8.
Think the person on here was selling the stinger pretty amps mate Have you investigated the jack plug mate and another thought in my head is the brass screw mounts on the back of the pres may be loose or dirty they are used to help with grounding from what I read some time ago it has been ages since I look inside one of these so memory is a bit rusty
This is the one I was thinking of: http://basschat.co.u...te/page__st__60 I've checked out the jack socket - sprayed it and dragged a wad of fine wire wool though it. I've liberally sprayed the PC with contact cleaner. Taken the IC out of the socket, sprayed the socket and refitted the IC. Tightened the mountings of the PC. Although looking at it, the board seems to be insulated from the back, but the green covering over the track on the back of the PCB. Checked all the terminations for lose connections/bad joints etc. Looked over the PCB for components' legs connecting to make a short circuit Something that may be the key is the active output is very much louder than the passive output. So I think the problem is something has gone wildly high-gain-noisey. I don't think I'm seeing signal drop out.
 9.
I had the guitar version decades ago.. even the treble could really push an amp hard. Can you try it in anything with a gain indicator? If it's the pre that's at fault, I'd be more inclined to fit a modern, far less battery-hungry unit. Excellent basses, but probably not so collectable that the original preamp makes so much difference,
Very fair point. To be honest, the Westone active tone strikes me as being more wacky rather than useful. There was someone on here who was making Pre-amps for Stingrays. Maybe one of those would fit in there.
 10. I
If you switch on the active preamp, and turn up all the way the bass boost, the signal may get too hot for your amp. It is a seriously powerful preamp
Many thanks. I've got the volume and tone turned all the way "forward"; so that's max treble. If I have it in active mode, both the passive tone and the "active tone" pots work. That's to say they do make a difference if I turn them. Soldering one the back of the pre looks ok.
 11. I've picked up a nice Westie. I changed the switches and one battery clip and It was playing fine and all was all fine in the world. Then yesterday I played it and on active the sound was seriously distorted. Seeing other threads and mailing a friend here, I decided to change the other battery clip, but no change. It's still sounding bad. Any ideas? Actually, while writing this I'm thinking - remove the pre-amp from the back panel and check all the joints for dry joints. I'll come back to you and let you know what happens.
 12. Saw him on TV the other night saying that the stress/excitement of doing a gig isn't doing him any good. So he's retiring. Really sad to see him calling an end to it, but wishing him all the best for a long and happy one.
 13.
Im curious as to what the chinese writing says o.O
Me too. I've never been in a position where I've met a Chinese person and had the bass with me.
 14. I'm culling the "collection". I really can't keep so many. So here's a great bass I bought from Ordep of this parish. I've had it some time and had a blast playing it. It's not in pristine condition, but comes with genuine mojo from the love of being played and from a Chinese child who got creative on the back. All this, to me, gives this bass buckets of charm. I thought of re-finishing it, but I'd rather not change a thing. All this shows that this bass has lived. It has a big, fat Warwick gigbag and Warwick Care-pack folder. If you don't want the folder, take £45 off the price. This weighs just under 4KG, so it's a nice, light bass. I'll miss her, but she deserves someone who'll carry on the love.. In the time I had it I fitted a brass Just-a-Nut III. The sound is great and with the flats the tone is cool and smooth. I'm in Herts/Essex, but will be happy about shipping it at cost. 16.
Decided to sell everything and just keep my cheap Weston thunder jet I have been restoring
or rather, this calls for pictures!!
 17.
What would be the Beatles equivalent to 'Redemption Song'? They played with politics but, as far as I'm aware they never got anywhere close to the sheer emotional & intellectual power of that song. It's a cracking tune as well. Surely that's a goal for Marley?
Both bands were active in the same period in history. But at that time didn't the black section of the population, especially in the Americas, have massively greater issues to object to and get seriously passionate about? As I remember it, back in the 60s /70s it was pretty well unknown to see whites get involved or concerned about "black issues". I guess the lack of politics in the Beatles music reflects, how much easier it was, at that time to be white than black.
 18.
Do you think that The Beatles' influence and legacy is limited to white, English speaking cultures any more than Bob Marley's is limited to black, Afro-Caribbean cultures? Maybe Bob Marley's biggest strength was his ability to appeal across racial, cultural and socio-economic divides?
No, not at all. I'm white, English, but I really like Bob Marley's work. It was probably Marley's work that brought reggae to the UK and I respect his influence. Full respect to him and all those who've followed. I imagine, also that there are Beatles influences everywhere too. What I am saying is I don't know how either have influenced Asia, Australia, South America, much of the USA.... the list goes on. Enjoy! Edit. Didn't the Rolling Stones do a reggae number or two as well - that will be through Bob Marley's influence. This is a big question. I don't think anyone can really give a definitive answer.
 19. Not knowing the cultural influence of either/both in all parts of the world I'm ill-equipped to vote on this. If you could narrow this to Europe, or the English-speaking world, then I might stand a chance. I like both equally, but that means nothin'
 20. Nice bass. Have a bump for a new BCer. Welcome aboard. Have a bump for a cool bass
 21. Hmmm.... can I have a pic of the side please? Nahh... don't worry I know your frustration. You know what you need to do to sell this here don't you? Scratch off the "W" and put a Fender decal on it. Do that and it'll be gone by tea-time.
