1.
I use Gorilla tape. Some serious sh*t tape that is...
I've got a roll of that - the self-adhesive equivalent of a 6" nail.
2. Done. But you say you won't share the email address, but then you DO!! It's in the screen to see all the previous answers.
3. Northwest guitars http://www.northwest...k/bass-bridges/ I've just bought their £18 special. It's really quite good
4. I believe the Honey Violin is a varnish/lacquer. Paint stripper would remove it.
5. As it was originally silver (like the colour of a galvanised ventilation duct) I can comfortably concede it is duct tape. Who cares?
6.
6.8 lbs, they're onto something here....
3.1kg is pretty light too. Without Ultralight tuners, that could have neck dive maybe?
7.
I certainly started out that way 30 years ago - albeit with a 15w bass practice amp that picked up the local cab firm through the single coil pickups of my Arbiter bass! Great advice above - meanwhile while you save for a new amp, move your frontman amp into a corner to help accentuate the bass frequencies, and play fingerstyle near the neck.
Back in the 70s, as a youth on a paper-boy wage, my first amp was a reel to reel tape deck in 'record' mode. The speaker didn't even make it through the first note without distorting. So, guitar amp? luxury!
8.
Isn't it "Duct" tape?
That confuses me too. I called it duct tape until I noticed it's made by "Duck" https://www.ducktapecolours.co.uk/duck-colours-family/
9. It's too late for me to be a wannabe Pro, so I'll settle for being a wannabe Hobbyist. I'm certainly a wannabe bass player.
10. Sold Paul a Westone Thunder Jet. The transaction was nice and smooth as always. Many thanks Paul!
11. Something I didn't tell Lee before sending the bass, was there's a small token of personalisation on the headstock. Lee, said in another thread, how the bass he sold was one christened by his daughter as "the Family Stone bass", as their family name is Stone. So I took the liberty of customising another well known logo and adding that to the headstock. Thankfully Lee likes the addition. I was just a little unsure about doing it.
12. I was given the honour of putting together a Jazz bass for Lee. It was a pleasure from beginning to end. it all went well and I'm looking forward to actually meeting the man in person, some day in the next few months. Many thanks Lee. It's good to have got to know you.
13. On a fretless the set up is similar to the fretted, but you measure from the fingerboard to the string. This video is useful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mLp8TI0tu8
14. Here are 2 small amps that would be suitable as a start that are in the market place here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/283851-stagg-40-ba-bass-practice-amp-new-incl-courier/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/289942-roland-cube-bass-30w/
15.
OK, don't laugh loud here ... I am using a 15-watt Fender Frontman 15G amp the one I used for my guitar with treble at 0
Not laughing. I went and bought a "bargain" bass from a girl. She'd been in a band and had used a Fender Frontman amp. The amp came with the deal. It's fine for a guitar. It's a guitar amp. It sounds absolute cr@* with a bass. Seriously, don't worry in the slightest about pups, strings, or ANYTHING until you've got the reddies together and replaced that amp. To give yourself a better feel about your bass, as Howie says - try another amp. Just to give you the feel that your bass IS what you want and keep the motivation. Even a visit to a fellow BCer, could be an option. Good luck and keep with it.
16. Clearly if you're going to play the bass with Trubass 88s, then you're going to need a nut that lets the string be at the right height. Why not get a spare nut for the bass, so you can swap nuts when you change strings? Otherwise, why not go for LaBella flats for a deeper sound?
Thank you! Will do! Good idea
After God knows how many years in sales and marketing, I have to try to make it useful somewhere in life Pleased to help. GLWTS
19. See this one too: http://alexnld.com/product/isin-p-01-electric-bass-guitar-black-with-power-wire-tools/
20. Has anyone tried one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-ISIN-4-String-White-School-Band-Jazz-Electric-Bass-Guitar-for-Beginner/252422220304?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D37255%26meid%3D103994d8ee6a42f4a21f5b9c021adf64%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D18%26sd%3D142083476361 For under £69 how can you go wrong? The description is also so... er.... useful? Also a bayes with a "power wire" would be a cool add to the collection.
21. LOL, I keep getting the urge to withdraw it and use it for a relic project - a recent thread has given me the itch. But it seems SO wrong on a bass that has no real damage and looks cool as it is.
22.
That's a cool looker Rich. What's the weight?
Hi Gary, I've just weighed it with my luggage scales - great piece of kit for this purpose. Weight: 3.6Kg = 7.93664 lb Cheers R
23.
Very nice indeed Rich great basses
Thanks Tom. For clarity; I had 2. Thunderbird has bought one. The one in the pictures above is the second one. All basses I'm selling are good. I love them all. But if my playing bass is to get better, I need few of them so I have less to distract my practice. Thanks for looking.
