1.
Hmmmmm have had hot weather play havoc with the tuning on my jazz bass but with regards tone I don't have this problem with any of my basses. Did anything else change, like had you cleaned the strings in between playing etc?
Fair point, but no, I'd not cleaned the strings on either occasion. Just been playing with it just now.... there's a possibility it could be my being a klutz with my new compressor. Sorry!!
2. Ok, joking aside. I've just put my 4-string P-bass into a Hiscox. On the tuner side, there is, on mine a good amount of space. Where the +1 tuner would be, there is a reasonable amount of space. This space varies as the bass can move a bit. The tuners on mine project about 45mm from the side of the headstock. It's possible that the space in the case, at the other side of the headstock could be about 45mm, but the tuner would be permanently against the side of the case. If you're looking for a case for general carrying about, it would probably be ok. If you're looking at this as being an insurance against damage if it were dropped on that corner - find another case.
3.
Nice ,better with the wider string spacing.
Certainly is. I'll be sorry to see it go.
4. You post me the bass and I'll check it out.
5. Hi there fellow Low-enders, The other day I got out a bass that's relatively new to me, plugged it in and the sound was not good. That bad it almost sounded like a Musicman!!! It sounded really zingy and clanky. Not good at all. On that day the weather was very wet. The rain was falling in sheets. A day later, better weather and the bass was back to sounding deep and gravelly, just how I like it. Is it just me, my ears, or do others find this too? This isn't the first time and it's not only this one bass either.
6.
There was a Harley Benton resonator bass for a while, not sure if it's still available
http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_clr_resobass.htm?ref=search_rslt_resonator+bass_338383_18
7. Sounds an interesting challenge.

9. Ohhh... tempting! You might do well to load pics to Photobucket and then paste the links to the thread using the "image" button in the editor window (not available on the mobile version of the interface)
10. Id also say MarkBass, but add anther variable on the Barefaced BB idea could be a One10... If a cab is the right route. It's also seriously small in size, like the PJBS are, for use a time home. That's what I use in the lounge at home: LM3 and a One10

Hello

Hey, Welcome Lownote12, from a fellow SBL Refugee. Thanks for the amp btw. I passed it on for the same price to a needy, young man beginning on bass.
12. That's not good with the neck. Sorry to hear that. If the oil doesn't work. try WD40 and try moving it to loosen off, rather than tightening.
13. Sounds really interesting. Any chance of some pictures and other information? Video or sound clips would be great too. Please
14. This : http://www.ebay.co.u...5gAAOSwjXRXZR0M I've got one. It's a great piece of kit. It'll also take input from an MP3 player. It's about an hours drive from you too Ohh.... and another one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Roland-Cube-CB60XL-Bass-Guitar-Amp-Combo-cb-60xl-/201605829933?hash=item2ef0a4d52d:g:XNgAAOSwepJXY~sv
15.
Yeah it occurred to me it might be radio pickup. Old corroded connections often act as diodes and single coils make great aerials.
Which is why I suggested eliminating all the other components and get it right down to basics and check out the pup and jack only. If that gives a clean output, then we're safe in saying to ditch the pots and cap. Get a new harness and all will probably be ok. If it's still noisy, then it's probably an earth issue?
16. Sorry guys if this offends, but why do folk buy an American bass and expect metric Allen keys to fit? Do you take Euros on holidays in the USA? Why not go down to Wickes and buy a set of metric AND imperial Allen keys? Besides, how will you go about buying your 1/16" Allen key, single key?
17.
Dropped price to £1400, feel free to get in touch if you've any questions.
Its too early. I read that a "get a free lunch". Have a bump for a great bass.
18. Thanks for posting. This is interesting and has certainly got me thinking.
19. That's a good point you have there about the capacitor. Maybe you can test this by having everything connected as it was, but unsolder 1 leg of the capacitor.
20. It gets worse when you turn "one" of the volume pots? Does it get worse when you turn the other volume pot as well? I would start by connecting one of the pups straight to the jack; eliminating the pots and the other pup. Then connect the other pup in the same way. This would tell you if the pup has a problem.
21. I had a Wishbass. They do have side dots. I quite enjoyed giving it a refin. The sound from the Kent Armstrong pup was excellent. Mine was different from those linked here. It was heavy.
22. Thanks for posting. I just got tickets forhis London gig on 29th June. Saw him in Camden last time he was here. He puts on a great show.
23.
Each to their own The forearm contour does have some very smooth round wear, probably needs roughing up a bit to look more genuine.
None of it looks genuine. When did you ever see a genuinely worn bass as rough at at edges AND all shiny? I prefer the "cared for" rather than the "abused". Each to their own. Pleased the OP is happy. Good luck
