Looking at the pictures something isn't right. It seems to me that you have both pups wired to the central pot as if you're trying to use it as a blend pot or something. It certainly looks odd to me, unless I'm mistaken that is. The trouble with your pics is we can see the pots and the wires, but we're having to assume a lot in respect of where the wires go. I see you're new here, so "welcome". Have you wired a bass before? Is this your first time? If you're new to bass electrics and want a great drop-in harness, John; Kiogon does a great deal on those. Many folks sing his praises for those. Otherwise I'd suggest that you go back to your wiring diagram and double check it out.

Mcnach is, of course, right about checking the connection. If this doesn't work, you can next take the amp out of the cabinet. Unplug the mains and the Jack link to the speaker. Then turn the cab on to its front and on the side that's now facing up there will be some large countersunk, black screws. Remove the screws and the amp will slide out of the cab. The amp won't have a lid. So look inside and see if there are any foreign bodies in there. Check connections in there to make sure everything is plugged in properly. Beyond that there's not a lot more a non-tech can do. But if you need to send the amp to a tech he will only need the amp, not the whole cab.

I've had 2 MIM precisions and regret selling either really. Also folk knock the Affinity, but if you're prepared to change the pup, if you don't like it, quite frankly, what's wrong with this? I'm happy to be educated here. Or there's a Squier VM PJ https://m.thomann.de/gb/fender_sq_vm_precision_bass_pj_lpb.htm?o=11&ref=mal_a_11&search=1466051646 Or the Mike Dirt https://m.thomann.de/gb/fender_sq_mike_dirnt_p_bass_awt_trtpg.htm?o=9&ref=mal_a_9&search=1466051646

Does this Fender look dodgy to you?
Thanks for the feedback on this. The maple neck looks too new to me to be '70's, hence my suspicion it may be an assembly job.
Why not ask him for the dates on the stamps on the neck and body. Any assembly would be doing well to get both to be nearly the same. I guess the ultimate bottom line is what price it goes to. -

Considering the views of others expressed here, and my own thoughts, I'd say it's genuine. There are a few BCers in the area who know Fenders too. So finding someone who can help collect should be fairly easy. Good luck -

I'm sure Jez wouldn't mind. There's always space for great looking basses and ideas for getting a design right.

Lord preserve anyone from his "improvements". Besides, when I've lovingly crafted a wonderous body with great hand-wound pups and done all the good stuff, it's got HIS name on the headstock! -
The sheer perfection of the build and finish on Jez's basses is what strikes you first when you see them in the flesh. Remarkable on all levels when you are talking hand built. But there are also some really well thought out design features. For example, a number of us put multiple strap buttons on the tail to offer a player different 'sits' of the bass on the strap. Jez's is the only bass I've ever seen where these allow the base to sit safely upright without a stand. It might seem a small detail, but how many of us struggle with this in venues where space is tight? While the rest of us are looking for a room corner or a radiator to jam the thing against, Jez's will stand up anywhere. Even against the cab. Respect
After reading this, take another look at the pic of the bass leaning against the door. Notice how the bass is standing on the 2 strap buttons, so the wood is not actually on the floor. That way it's safe from damage. I love it!
In what circumstances would it be unavoidable? Band members or friends can take turns to stay with a vehicle, or help to carry instruments.
Stopping off to get a drink at the services on the way back home maybe? Someone could stay with the van though.

I travel for work and take a practice bass with me on my travels. So it's in the car when I go into see customers. This is food for thought though.
With builds like this it makes you wonder why you'd go into a shop and buy something that's mass produced. Having met Jez I got the feeling that if there were any issues with one of his creations he'd be more than happy to put them right...
I'm sure Jez would. He's a true gent. But I understand that he's never yet thought about selling his basses. I'd buy one though. Mind you, he's got me thinking about taking on build from scratch. Don't know if it would come to his high standards though.

http://www.exotichardwoods.co.uk/ I've been here a few times and they seem quite reasonable to me. But for body blanks they referred me to David Dyke. http://www.guitartonewoods4luthiers.co.uk/ - I'll be taking a visit tomorrow.
Rich, would a Squier Affinity P bass neck from the 90s fit?
Heya mate. Yes, I believe that it would. If you wish, you can draw round the neck on a piece of paper, send it to me and I'll check it out for you. If it's not right, it won't be far out.
Thanks Grangur, that's really kind of you.
No worries. You've been trying to sell this a long time. I'm thinking that personal delivery would remove the risk of damage in transit. And it is, of course a Warwick! Can't resist trying out a Warwick. -

Hi there, as the clear-out continues, here's a neck that probably needs to go. This is a fully functioning fretted neck. The frets are in good condition, but could use a polish. The neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard. It's all in good condition. The tuners are ok with no real rattles or anything, but could do with a polish. The nut measures 41.5mm. The bottom of the neck at the widest point is 61.5mm (as far as I can measure). I'm in East Herts, but would be happy to post or meet to hand over. Please feel free to ask for more pics or ask questions.

Hi there, here's a body from a project I've been trying to get to work on for a while. I believe it's paulownia wood and finished in a good coat of lacquer, or nitro. The pocket is suitable for a Fender type neck. The electrics work, but I'd replace them. The bridge is solid enough for a BBOT. There are a few small dings for a realistic roadworn look, but if you want relic you've still got a long way to go. I'm based in East Herts, but I can post this to you. If you'd like more info or pics, please ask.

This is up for grabs.

Just think what this would be worth if Geek's mate in Norfolk would work on this and improve it with some relic work!
