1. I'm another user of linseed oil. I find Lemon oil is much more expensive and doesn't go anywhere, but each to there own. I do it once a year at most. I guess it depends on how sweaty and dirty your hands are.
2. Absolute bargain. I've got a 5 string version. The sound is emense. Have a bump.
3.
All well that end well, the seller has refund me all the money and paid for the return courier. He accepted that it should have been in the listing, he said that I should have known from the pictures that it was a Highway, since I never seen one before then I was mis-led. Happy ending all around
Sounds like he's a really good seller! Having not seen pics, or the listing we can't make judgement on the selling pics. Nice result.

hello

Hey welcome. See you around.
6.
Absolutely, but don't be scared to ask. I'm fairly certain nobody will jump on you for mixing up what the nut and the bridge are (I remember mixing those up) or wondering what string gauge means. We were all new once and we're all (mostly) mature enough to not just go STFU N00b. So don't worry, if you're confused just ask in here, people will answer, it'll all be good.
. This ^ I've been playing bass around 5 years now. Sometimes I can be knowledgeable, but on a lot of things I'm a total noon too. I've asked some stoopid questions, I'm sure. Only once or twice have I been made to feel a drongo and then the guy apologized. Never feel dumb about asking anything here. If it ever feels like a question could be embarrassing to ask, you can always PM someone. Most here are great folk. The other rip for a newcomer is, if you can get along to a local bass bash. They're good fun and good places to learn.
7.
.... It'll never look as perfect as new to a very picky/OCDish eye, so it would be impossible to hide this from anyone.
You're right it will show, unless you get someone to fix it who knows what they're doing. A luthier is a guy who's specialist field is wood work and a bit of spraying and finishing. You need a guy who's job is finishing, not someone who specialises in the skills of replacing a truss rod.
8.
I see your point there but from what i know about EBMM's QC and attention to detail i would really believe that a replacement nut from the manufacturer would have a big probability of fitting snug and perfect without needing some file work. I wouldn't say the same for most manufacturers though.
I bet all manufacturers have the nuts made to a precise size. You you seriously expect someone in the Encore factory is carefully filing down the nuts to size? The only nuts that do need filing and modification will be the generically made ones that you can buy cheap on ebay.
9. No. I don't like the zingy tone. Their life span is short as they don't simply mellow, to a good tone, they simply die IME. It takes all sorts to make a world, and I don't play punk like Lozz does.
Try a set, see what you think...
Oh, come on!!! Where would be be if everyone did that!!
10. I know it's not a Warwick, but if I were wanting a brass nut I'd take a look at if you can get a Warwick Just-a-Nut 3 to fit. They're easy to adjust to the right height. You might be able to get the right width for the neck. All you need watch is if the width of the nut will fit the slot in the nut position on your neck.
11. The best person to fix this may well not be someone dedicated to music. If it were mine, or I were you, the person I'd ask is a friend who's a French Polisher by trade. Folk you do French Polishing get involved in all sorts of spraying and invisible re-touching of cabinets and other items. What you have going for you is it looks like the black isn't damaged, only the lacquer appears to need repairing. I wouldn't go to a car spray shop; they're too dedicated to re-finishing with the luxury of knowing the car make, year and paint reference. Googling French POlisher near Bristol I found these: http://www.jcfrenchpolisher.co.uk/ http://www.woodnthingsbristol.co.uk/ http://www.frenchpolisherbristol.com/ Good luck
12. I had a Super MIdget and a One10. The One10 has more bottom-end than the SM 12". It's got a really great rounded sound with my LM3. I don't gig, but if I did I'd get a second One10. I spoke with Alex when I picked it up and he reconed a One10 would handle a gig and adding a 2nd would be be massive. (All things being relative) I live in East Herts, anyone is welcome to come and try mine if you'd like.
13.
Thanks bud, sound...not quiet but kinda mellow and balanced, not boomy but with a nice amount of bottom nice even volume across the strings and up and down the neck...surprisingly lovely sounding for an old laminate lady
Not that I know your taste but that sounds absolutely perfect..... Does she have a sister?
14. Looks cool. What's it sound like?
15. Hey, maybe you could get an X stand for it, like a keyboard one with some adaptation?
16. Ahh cool, but have a bump on me
17. Don't want to be the bringer of bad news, but... http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_atk200nt.htm Good luck with the sale
18. All good points, guys. At home she has an HP508, which he loves. Yes the keys are weighted, which is all part of the piano feel. Right now I'm watching a Roland Juno on EvilBay. It has 5 octaves. We saw one in London yesterday and she seems to like it. I like the idea of the MIDI keys, but you can probably plug the Juno into a PC if we want, and after all, it IS for her.
19.
If you decide to go the iPad route, then you may wish to check out: - CMP Piano - iGrand - SampleTank These are old. I don't know whether they've been updated recently. I know there's another, newer one, but i can't remember it right now. CMP needs a newer iPad than iPad2; I don't know what the others need. At any rate, these are far better than a GarageBand piano. Remember that the resulting sound of a piano app also is very much dependant on the MIDI keyboard having a decent Velocity range, and thus also is dependant on a good keyboard. I've tested the same software with different keybeds, and there's a huge difference in what one perceives. Better control = better sound.
Many thanks, I think we'll be sticking with Roland. She's a big Roland fan.
20.
I've been selling a 25 key Oxygen usb controller keyboard for ages. I used to take it with me on the train for recording on the move, it's very, very portable. It fits into my backpack. If you have an iPad, then garageband is available from the app store for £3.50 or something silly.
Many thanks for your help. Regrettably she's wanting something with about 49-60 keys. She's a pianist, so she'd miss the keys.
21. On the SBL academy they encourage you to join a practice group. How each group is run is up to the group but they meet online on Skype or Google Hangouts and chat about what they're doing to practice. I guess one of the purposes of this is to get this sort of motivation and encouragement.
22. Thanks guys. She already has an iPad. So it sounds like it could be worth exploring. Do you have any suggestions of software to use to produce the sounds of a piano? Sorry, my knowledge of these things is really non-existant. Thanks guys.
23. H there, Mrs G is looking for a Digital keyboard that she can take with us on travels. Shde has a Roland Digital piano at home, but it's not exactly mobile. She's seen a Roland A-500 Pro USB/MIDI Controller Keyboard on sale at a good price. It sounds good and being Roland it'll be good kit, but is it possible to use it as a digital piano, maybe when plugged into a laptop? Any thoughts or info will be much appreciated. Thanks
24.
Does it work with headphones? It's a good excuse for me to buy a pair of monitors.
its really good on headphones, if you like having a small steam train driving sedately through your brain.
