1. D'Addario were great sponsors of the Herts bass bash. They came and did a talk on strings and supplied all the strings for Lozz'z head 2 head bass test.
 2. He seems to have modded the ad. But £499 for a MIM is optimistic IMHO. Shouldn't this expect to go for about £350?
 3.
I lay mine down & line it up with this...
Just as well you don't live in Wales then,,,
 4.
yeah I suppose so...I started this thread because someone had joked in another thread that my action must be 'only' like 1mm at the 1st fret, as if that was uncommonly low....which of course it isn't. I was curious as to how high some people's action might be set as I couldn't even play a bass that had 1mm at the 1st - imagine what it's like at the 12th!!! So it wasn't so much how accurately it's set up but which measurements you employ that I was interested in. It seems the chap who feels 1mm at the 1st is low hasn't turned up to this thread.
It does, of course, matter HOW you measure the action at the first fret. If you take Warwick's recommended method, you measure with a business card having fretted the string at the 3rd fret. http://www.youtube....h?v=-NEXH61OCJY But if you're measuring without fretting at the 3rd, then a business card height will be seriously low. But if you are, and it suits you, then fair play to you Bro. It's your bass.
 5. Shameless plug here, but I'm going to list a Marshall Jackhammer this evening. It would be £23 Inc post, if you're interested. Btw I am a fully paid up member.
 6.
Feeler gauges work better than allen keys IMHO
Isn't this what this thread is about? I have feeler gauges, and would use them if I were setting up a bass for someone else, but I read this thread as being about "how accurate do you measure yours?"
 7. New information and pics added
 8. Selling my Barefaced Midget cab with Roquesolid cover. This is a great little cab, punchy, clean sound. Loud enough for smaller gigs, great size for home practice. Here's what Barefaced have to say about it: http://barefacedbass...ange/midget.htm DIMENSIONS 19.5" H x 13.5" W x 13.5" D 48cm x 34cm x 34cm WEIGHT 20 lbs / 9 kg Speakon socket connection. 9.
Thanks gents - Courier option including hard case for extra £35 now offered.
Bargain for someone....
 10.
I think this would go in an instant if you were willing to post fella, lovely looking thing!
I recon you're right. Get down the cycle shop and get some cardboard and parcel tape, and it'll soon be gone.
 11. This bass seems to have a real shine to it for oiled finish. Did you photograph it fresh,y oiled, or has it been polished with something else?
 12.
I wonder if anyone has tried a domestic iron on very low heat? might do the same as the oven trick?
I just did this just now. I put a towel on the floor, PG on the towel and an old shirt on top of that. I then ironed the PG through the shirt (any old cloth will do). The PG got all soft like plastacine and i then put a glass kitchen board on top of it and books on top of that, to keep it flat whilst cooling. My buckled PG is now flat. Job done and a custom PG is no longer on the shopping list.
 13. Congrats on the New Old bass Day! I hope it lives up to the memory. It's also cool you've got chance for a "bonding activity". Good luck
 14. Hi there, and welcome
 15. True, but the best route is surely to replace the pots. After all, it's only £5-6 each and then it's "job done"
 16.
Either that or make up some uneven washer, so they get pulled back into a straight aspect.
But if the shaft is bent, the pot-top will turn in an irregular wobble.
 17.
Thanks, I have already taken the lugs off with pliers (the angle was worse originally) but the pots are still at a slight angle
it's possible then, that when tightening the pot on the PG the spindle of the pot has been bent. The answer is to change the pot.
 18. Hey there E, Welcome to BC. It'll be interesting to hear your thoughts on stuff. See you around. Rich
 19. Ade bought some leads from me. Nice simple, quick transaction. Would happily deal again. Many thanks Ade.
 20.
http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c5b0eb346 That looks a bit more like early Alembic neck throughs. Is it Matsumoku? It doesn't look it. I'm wondering if it's a bit more pizza than it is sushi.
The headstock looks convincing. I like it, but then I'm easily pleased. Shame about the "upgrade" to the pups.
