These are really outstanding cabs - and you won't find one cheaper than this! Chews up watts and spits them out clean and clear, and the sound dispersion is awesome. None of that "I can only hear myself if I stand in front of my amp" rubbish with these babies... Out of interest, you could probably ship one of these in the UK for around £40, so not too bad. Recommended (as if you can't tell!)
Many thanks my good man! It's now sold. (traded)

I like it. And you're right, it has all the right shapes for bottles.

What music do you play? What venues? Do you have a loud drummer? Do you take the bus to gigs? What sound are you looking for? Without this info, you'll only get a list of Mark Bass cabs and will still have no idea if what's being suggested is right for you. Good luck Edit: and click to follow the thread, so you get alerts when folk post stuff.
Cheers everyone! I had no idea driver size had no bearing on frequency -I'd just assumed bigger drivers give more bottom end. Anyways, we have another gig this Thurs in big hotel function room - not much time for sound check, but I'm gonna try and implement suggestions, apart from stands - I'm gonna set the rig up higher tho, think that might help a bit - I've learnt a lot already today - thanks again!
I thought that too when I got my 15" cab. What I learned (here) since is it's cab size that gives the deeper tones, not the driver. Please correct me guys if I'm wrong.

I'm not a guitarist by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought someone here might like this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WESTONE-TWO-OCTAVE-24-FRET-SHEDDERS-DREAM/262006054579?_trksid=p2055119.c100022.m2048&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122153843%26meid%3D89d8db9a1bd44992bba9acd9574109f8%26pid%3D100022%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D131592690605
.... Not sure they'll ever make crazy money to be honest - maybe you should choose the third way - keep it and play it! Jon.
Doh! Where's the fun in that?! I've got my new Quantum that requires being played, and the Warwicks, and ... Such responsibility. Cheers Richard -

I was about to put my Westone Thunder 1A up for sale. I was also watching this one: http://www.ebay.co.u...cvip=true&rt=nc It's not as good as mine, but sold for £180. That's really got me thinking... sell? Or put it in it's home-made hard case, made by the original owner and put it in the loft? I don't need the cash, and mine is such a clean bass. The question is; is keeping it an investment, or am I kidding myself? -
[FS] BareFaced BigOne; 1x15", 1x6.5" Location: Near Stansted Airport, CM23 4DH Hi there, This wondrous cab has been sitting in my lounge since I bought it from Mr Discreet, of this parish. It's had a small number of evenings out, but the condition and everything is exactly as it was when I bought it. It still has a good cover and all is still working well. You're welcome to come over to my place and give it a spin. I've been using it mostly for home practice in my lounge with a Little Mark III amp. The sound is amazing, giving a real open clean sound; as you'd expect from a Barefaced. The other great thing is if you have to lend your cab, it takes 1000w RMS, so most amps won't have any hope of causing damage! Mr Discreet gave a really full and honest description: It has one fifteen-inch high-excursion neo driver and one six-and-a-half inch midrange unit in a typical thin-walled, heavily-braced Barefaced ply cab covered in TuffCab textured paint. There is a very sophisticated crossover unit in this cab that splits the sound between the two drivers. It has one Speakon input socket on the back and has various handles placed at strategic points for ease of haulage. It has plastic corner protectors and also has two small wheels at the back, a black steel grille and a very large port at the bottom. This cab is all about bass. I was expecting some heft from it and a fair amount of low-end extension is indeed apparent, but - it's very even in its delivery - there are no weird lumps or bumps in it. Plus, it's never muffled or muddy in any way - the depth is very usable, tight and solid. When I did add some bass EQ - more than I would ever use normally, in fact - the cab was unruffled and continued to provide a clear and endless vista of LOW which rattled loose objects all over the house. Impressive! At rehearsal, the word that kept popping into my head was 'authority'. It's the kind of punchy low/mid tone that not only hits you in the chest, it also hits you in the guts and the womb (if you have one). Having said this, the pitch of each note is never lost - the power is handled extremely well and there is always plenty of definition. But it's not all about the lows... the mid-range unit is also a winner. Very smooth and silky and again, no unwanted peaks or unexpected aberrations in delivery. The top end seems to have lots of 'space' in it. I believe the two-way crossover is a bit special and more complex than that usually found in a bass cab. With my GK Fusion set flat and using my Hayman 4040, I got the uncoloured sound of the bass as it is - and yet it's a version that is huge, hefty, very present, well-defined and three-dimensional... this is how you like to think you sound! There is a lot to be said for a cab that puts a huge grin on your face and keeps it there. The response is extremely flat, and this actually takes a little bit of getting used to. It's telling that a Schroeder cab I had was 4ohms and the Big One is an 8ohm cab, yet there was no apparent difference in perceived volume between them, using the same amp, same gain and same EQ - I expected to have to give the Big One more beans, but no - I assume this has a lot to do with its sensitivity. It can easily be a one-cab solution if you ignore the 'must be 4ohms' mantra and listen with your ears instead of your eyes... It is easy to see why this was at one time Barefaced's flagship bass cab. I have in the past borrowed a Super Twelve for a few months and that was a superb cab. This is also a superb cab. I know a sample size of two isn't much to go on, but I suspect that the whole range is at worst excellent and at best superlative. I haven't heard any of the Generation Three cabs yet, but if they are better than this then they must be really something. I'm guessing that they are just different; and if you're happy to stay at Generation One level (and there is a very good financial reason here so to do), then I think that any Barefaced cab of any generation that comes up for sale second hand must surely be carefully considered - in my opinion, Barefaced's discontinued cabs are better than most manufacturer's current offerings and used models must surely represent something of a bargain, to say the least. And where will you find another Big One? Fnarr. DIMENSIONS 29.5 x 21 x 16". WEIGHT 40lbs (18kg). RECOMMENDED AMP POWER 200-1000W RMS. MAXIMUM OUTPUT Similar to a high quality 6x10 or 2x15. NOMINAL IMPEDANCE 8 ohms. Here is the blurb about the Big One that was originally on the Barefaced site: Barefaced 'Big One' Massive bottom end, mid range punch, treble clarity and, for their weight, the loudest deepest bass cabs you can buy... 'Is that another fifteen?' Why yes it is, a very special one. 'And what's that other speaker in there?' It's six and a half inches of punch, clarity, growl and sweetness. 'But it's just a big speaker and a little speaker, all in one box. I've seen cabs like that from other makers.' The magic is inside the box - a full 2-way crossover, akin to that found in the very best studio monitors, which splits the sound between the two speakers, so each speaker can concentrate on doing what it does best. No other crossover found in a bass guitar cab has this complex topology, with very steep slopes so it is all but impossible to overpower the midrange driver, so that you get no interference between drivers either side of the crossover point, and so that you get the most accurate and realistic sound whether you're the bassist, a bandmate or a fan. Big One - our flagship model. The massive port may give away that there is something different about this classic looking cab. So what is going on behind that silver cloth grill? Well it's a very very special fifteen plus a tiny giant of a six and a half inch midrange driver. Prepare for a tone, bottom and output revelation! Featuring a extremely high excursion neo woofers in an oversized ported enclosures gives the Big One the ability to move more air and give you a fatter high SPL bass sound than most cabs twice their size (and how many more times its weight?!) Because this woofer is so good at going low it is not good at going high - the rest of your sound comes from an extremely high output 6.5" midrange speaker which gives you more tone and volume than you can believe possible from such a small speaker - it can cut through even the densest rock mix. Not only that but because this speaker is small it disperses your midrange much better than if it were coming from a larger woofer. Stand anywhere in the room and you will hear almost exactly the same tone - no other bass cab can achieve this! Disclosure - the main reason I'm selling this at a bargain price is because there is a small cosmetic issue at one of the corners - this cab has been gigged, and I think at one time a rubber foot was knocked and this caused a very minor crack under it and to the edge of the outer case - and the plastic corner protector was also cracked slightly. I have fixed this with a screw through the bottom of the case (see pic). The corner protector could easily be replaced but I haven't bothered to do this - it wasn't an issue for me and this minor damage makes no difference whatsoever to the performance of the cab. I must also point out that this damage was present when I got the cab and was not caused by me. It has not affected the cab's performance in any way and can't be seen in normal use. The cab is still very robust. So join the Barefaced club at a big discount on your premiums! Here's the Photobucket link to see more of this great cab. If you want more pics then I'll be happy to post some. I'd be happy to ship, but really I doubt you'd like to pay the postage. I do travel about a bit in the southern half of the country, so if you'd like it delivered then PM me and I'll check if I can get it to you. Thanks for looking
Really fancy one of these for pit gigs.
You do gig's down a pit? Well, at least you have a lift to get down there.
You're going to need two... and that assumes you can get away with a 210 on a gig, which is tenuous. I'm guessing the main use will be a Double bass, quiet jazzer
Mine will be to replace the BigOne I have in my lounge at home. The BigOne gives a great sound, but it's a bit OTT. Even Mrs G agrees.

Are your jack plugs clean and is the connection in the lead good? It might be worth trying another lead. If all this seems ok, try some switch cleaner on the jack and use it on a cotton bud to clean inside the socket.
Sad I missed out on this!
£249 isn't a lot more and still great value for a BF. I've ordered one.
Don't feel guilty! It's a very important thing to correct errors so that people know what they are buying. I have frequently posted basses on here assuming that they are the model they are listed as, and they haven't been. I sort of rely on you to correct errors, otherwise it could be me that would be feeling guilty if someone bought something and found it wasn't what it was described as!
You're not alone. Jon's knowledge is invaluable and much respected. Thank you Jon. -
Yes, I am talking about the chamfer around the edge, does anyone know how to to that? Would you be able to do curves using a jigsaw or bandsaw or is there a better tool?
A better tool would be a CNC milling machine. But this is not helpful. I'll get my coat.
You can paint mine satin black if you like ;-)
I'm available for spray jobs at a good rate. PM me to discuss your requirements.

They are still available on the website. If you go to "Products" then look down the listing on the left, it's the bottom line. They now sell from £249 collected.
I guess tempo, dynamics and articulation cost extra...
And a bass clef is easier (cheaper) than a treble.

As a true bass man, this is another more correct version.
1) I'm treating the first bar as a lead in bar, so no crochet rest is required - is this correct? YES - you could add the rest and it wouldn't be wrong but what you have is perfectly acceptable. ...
Hey! You've just saved him about £3.50. Now THAT is what this community is all about.

Plus from Thomann you'd get a money back option.

I contacted Gary (Uke) about a DVD on circulation in the recycle section of this forum and he found it in a couple of days and sent it straight on. No cash was involved, but he's a gent. Many thanks Gary!

Strangely enough he seems to only want to post pictures of the neck. Don't know why. And only £170 too!
Bass wise, the best tutor I've had was Steve Lawson who I studied with for a couple of years or so. There were some amazing bassists at uni who I studied with too, but for various reasons didn't get much from, mainly because I wasn't interested in developing my traditional bass playing skills, it wasn't stimulating creatively for me.
Steve Lawson occasionally does live teaching sessions for Scotts Bass Lesson Academy.
