2. Great result! Really pleased for you to see it worked out well. Thanks for posting.
 3.
Hi guys; looking for a bit of advice. have a 1993 Warwick Fortress One which is need of a bit of TLC. The neck needs adjusting to get rid of a couple of string buzzes and also it needs a new jack input. What I'm thinking is, should I also replace the pickups while I'm at it. It's a lovely bass to play but it sounds tired, a bit lifeless, even with a new set of strings. Any ideas or comments welome.
Warwick are great basses and pups dont really get worn out. If I were you I'd take one step at a time. Firstly, set it up right and get rid of the buzz. There are some good videos on YouTube for how to set up a Warwick. It's a bit more involved than a Fender style bass, but worth doing. Next, what's wrong with the jack? Have you tried cleaner spray? If you need a new jack, you can get one from Warwick; to be sure of having the right one. Lastly, test it all and see how it goes. Keep posting here with any questions and tell us how its going. I envy you. I'd love to de doing up an old Warwick.
 4. I'm in Bishops Stortford, Herts. Where are you? If you're not in the area near me, then it'd be better if I bought the paint as posting paint isn't easy. I'll PM you.
 5. Thank you KiOgon. Great thread.
 6. Can do. The price would depend on what the condition of the body is before starting. Also, do you have the paint and lacquer?
 7.
I've made a cardboard lid today actually! it's a temporary solution then I think I'll get a bit of pick guard material to make a lid. The battery cover will require a bit more work I feel! Thank you for the kind offer though, that's really thoughtful!
If it doesn't last until the real one turns up then make a stronger one with the plastic from the side of a milk bottle.
 8.
Now you've gone and done it, cue three pages by this evening It really depends on what you are trying to achieve but on one of my builds I decided that I wanted punchy and went for Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounds. Result = very punchy but not a traditional P sound. It was what I wanted though, so I was happy.
Thanks for the info Gary. If you want a traditional P-bass sound, what pup would you go for?
 9. Sold pending the usual - in 2 views! Cool. BC strikes again.

 11.
Yeah, I wouldn't use that to be honest! It's one of the brands that get mentioned quite a bit on threads like this, I have no doubt it will effectively remove grime though it will leave behind a residue of all kinds of chemicals which is are not good for your fretboard. I believe I have seen it mentioned that it does indeed contain Silicone which is an absolute nightmare as it spreads everywhere and will not come off! The old Gibson Cromwell will be making a return to this area shortly! It's actually all strung up and finished, I'm just waiting for the pickguard to arrive from the US before putting up some finished pics. Prior to that I'll obviously also update the thread with the work which has been carried out since . Thanks for the interest!
+1 I'd never trust anything with the word "Pledge" on it, for exactly the reason MC says.
 12.
Actually not really Repairs or Technical, so moved to Bass Guitars. Can someone delete this please?
Maybe it would make the Mods job easier if you change the title in the thread? Good luck with the bass. I hope you get a good solution
 13.
What the shop has told you is correct, the wood has shrunk and this shows at the fret lines where over time it has moved. The cause is not going to be sweaty hands though! It's certainly Ebony and I'd put a bet on the fact that the little bits which have been filled were done at the factory when new. The little circle (orangy colour) on your fourth picture is a small knot and nothing to be concerned about. Ebony comes in lots of different grades, some can be surprisingly porous which is probably what the tiny holes you are seeing is. The string wear should have been mentioned in the description, but it's no big deal to fix, neither is repairing the fret line gaps. Any other concerns?
Which factory are you refering to? Warwick don't make a lined fretless and I'm sure they would never send out a bass with filled gaps like that. Unless, of course you have come across one?
 14. Write to him and say: Dear Sir, I have taken advice on my position on the matter of the condition of the bass and it is not as described and as such you are are in breech of the Trades Descriptions Act 1986 and 1972. I have also taken advice on the matter of the wood changing as when played. This is also untrue. Please refund my account without delay for the full value of the sum paid including delivery costs. On receipt of the money I will return the bass at my cost. I look forward to your response by return as time is of the essence. Yours.... I hope this helps and wish you all the best. He's talking cr@p about the wood changing and he'll konw that's all made up. He just hopes that after you've played it a while you'll get to like it a lot.
 15. Isn't that what JH wants? So now you NEED to buy a new one. Coupled with this is you're in a situation that once you've bought your Ricky, you can't sell it "used" anywhere, so having bought your bass it's worthless. Even if I liked one I wouldn't touch one with a barge-pole as I can't afford to write off that kind of money.
 16.
Yup...it was a blown fuse. Opened up the amp and there it was in all of its blackened glory. Replaced it and works perfectly. Not sure what part of the amp the fuse protected (I'm technically deficient in that way), but ignorance is bliss. I'm ready to roll tonight! Thanks for the help guys.
Check into it. Fuses don't fail just to create some excitement in our lives. If you don't find the cause you can be sure it'll happen again.
 17. Seriously though. Thanks for posting. We live and learn
 18.
Fixed it! Lowered the pickups! don't know why I didn't think of that earlier!
Hey! This is what this community is about. BC strikes again! Thanks Paul for helping Paul. :?
 19. I'm incredibly lucky. Mrs G comes from a family who are all really into classical music, but she has a really open mind and is into Camel, Santana and Yes. I'm in to blues, rock and such and we cross over a lot. Most importantly she loves the sound of a good bass. She's also a keys player and I'm happy to listen to that too. Boring huh? Sorry.
 20.
Cool, will restart thread.
Don't forget to.ark the title as Sold or Withdrawn. This way the thread will get noticed by the Mods and locked. GLWTS
 21.
She should be able to fold the right hand side of the chair down and I'd recommend a light bass, hollow would be better and a good strap.
Very true. Try an Ibanez ATK
 22. Yes there are wheelchair friendly basses. There may be folk here who use a chair but you can also contact Jimmy Lloyd Rae. https://m.facebook.com/jimmy.l.rea?refsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fjimmy.l.rea I know Jimmy from LinkedIn and he's only to happy to help anyone else who is in a chair and needs advice and support. Jimmy used to play with Lee Hooker and is in the Blues Hall of Fame as a bass player.
 23.
I see this as a larger issue with the way people are seeing and use ebay , as a marketplace for businesses to have cheap / free web stores rather than private sales and it results in two different types of seller on Ebay. I have different levels of patience with them both, and i can see both sides of this story. hypothetical example - names invented for obvious reasons I'm browsing ebay for a nice jazz ( don't try n flog me a jazz I've got a very nice one thank you) If I buy something on ebay from Mrjones1234 who is selling rather nice 90's fender jazz , its on bids with a respectable , Buy it now price , and a nice discription saying he's selling his old faithful jazz because for his 30th anniversary his wife , friends and loved ones club bed together to buy him a 65 Jazz . I expect to give him all the time in the world to ship my item to me , the postage charges are realistic ( lets say £17 quid shipped in hard case) this is a private sale , he is using ebay to market his product and he has lots of good feedback most of it as a buyer he cant run straight down to the post office and ship it to me he has a job commitments etc. 2nd case The jazz is being sold buy DEALZMUZAK they have a BIN and a make me an offer the advert is quite obviously a store or professional ebay retailer someone. This is someone who does this for a living or as a real money maker on the side. The listing is obviously one of many they may have multiples available or you can tell from there other items , that they sell lots of stuff and its a money making venture. This kind of seller is running a business I expect to treat them identically to the way iI would treat buying from any other music store online, The postage and packaging charge they are charging is usually also much higher / not that reasonavle as they are looking to have a cheaper item than all the rest and sideloading profit on the delivery costs.
Sometimes a business will charge less for shipping as they may choose to pass on the benefit of rates they have negotiated with a carrier, in order to make the product more attractive to the buyer. Gear4Music is a case in point for this, when they're selling off B stock.
