Excellent. Mine is to be realistic Here's to another year of fine bumps!
Come on Mark! Gary needs this sale to cover his life-saving surgery and to pay the bills to feed his wife and 23 children and the 3-legged dog that needs the vet's bills to be paid. -
ive sent the extra for the neck. ive got a fender pup and new pots and a brass wilkinson bridge and tuners, was thinking about either a brushed gold plate or a black one with brass hardware.
Oooooohhh.. Sounds interesting. But as Discreet will tell you... It's all packed in an "envelope" now and will be with the carrier in the morning. Many thanks and see you about. Cheers Richard

LOL!! No worries. I would. At least you know it fits and the frets are good. Over all the bass has hardly been played. I bought it as an "unwanted gift". I think its pretty much untouched, apart from knocks from being stored. What I was going to do was change the pups and re-shape the body for ergonomics to suit me better. I'd like to see what you do.

I've been reading a book this week; "The Practicing Mind" by Thomas M Sterner. This is a book I came across as it was recommended to my practice group (Scotts Bass Lessons Academy) by Anthony Wellington when we were on a webinar with him. What's interesting in the book is it tells you to stop thinking about the "end game", and tells you to live "in the process" not in the product. After all, if you're learning to play and instrument there is no end product. We all talk about "when I can really play", but when is that? We will continue to learn all our playing lives, so there is no "end". So we need to learn to think only about the task in hand as we practice. We also need to break that task down into sections and practice those sections and work towards improvement.

Hi there, I bought this to do a project, but don't really have time. So I'm selling a fully loaded body, as I got it, and the neck. Body: The body is in good condition, but with a couple of dings. One ding is just under the tone pot. The other is on the back/bottom of the bass - see the Photobucket album for more pics. http://s1175.photobu...P?sort=3&page=1 Pocket appears to be 63.5mm. So I think this is pretty standard. The body is solid wood but I don't know the type. It's light in colour and a good weight - not the heaviest I've held by a long way. Body Price: £38 including all you see and shipping in the UK. Neck: This is a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard c/w tuner heads. No dings anywhere that I know of. The feel is slightly chunkier than a Squier, but certainly no baseball bat. 41mm nut. 11mm string spacing at the nut. The frets are as new and really smooth at the edges. Neck price including tuners and shipping in the UK: £28. If you want both neck and body, I'll sell both together with strings for £65 and I'll throw in the strings - don't know what they are but they're in good condition and it all sounded OK when it was all assembled in one piece. The neck and body are a snug fit. I see this as a "project" because IMHO the body needs the dings sorted and I'd re-shape it a bit. It'd be good fun for someone. Thanks for looking Cheers Richard

How on earth do you play in a Ska / Reggae style?

I couldn't be more pleased that the Op is happy with the bass. Sorry if my comment about the logo was taken negatively. I had a Gear4Music. One of the first changes I made was to remove the logo. So, yes I'm a snob too. My thinking on Fender logos, though, is if I built a custom car would I stick a Ford name badge on it? Nice bass BTW.

I was looking at this with a view to buying it as a "general guide to fixing your bass". My view was it has a lot of repeating of the same stuff and most of the info is available on the net. But if you're into reading about Fender history it might be right up your street.

Another vote here for the soft, damp cloth with a little soap if needed. Using lighter fluid is macho BS and sandpaper on a varnished neck just plain wrong. Happy Christmas

I have to say it looks better with the new pick guard. Of the folk who bother to read the Fender logo will actually believe that it is a Fender? Really pleased for you that you're happy with it. Happy Christmas
Probably more practical if for any reason you need to do a runner...
Thanks for the advice. Its funny but I'd never thought of myself as *that* attractive, but you live and learn. -

Wow! Thanks mate! I'll get out there in the sales Boxing day. How about a pair of DMs if I can't get diving boots? Black ones, naturally, with laces to match the tutu. -
Now THAT'S the kind of band you want to be in. Get few more characters like that involved and the world's your lobster.
Hey Mark. You could have a great future in marketing! If she'd been slightly less bald AND a good drummer I could be telling you about a great venture on the move. I could even be asking you for tips on my choice of skirt length, but no such luck. -

Thanks for the great support, guys. The band masquerades under the name Then & Now. They're in Harlow, Essex. The keys is Pete and the guitar is Kev. After quitting I've also had the adventure of meeting up with a drummer; a balding, toothless, alice-band wearing 70 year old, transsexual called Jackie; but that's another story. Btw, I have no probs with being on stage with anyone who fits any of the above categories, but all at the same time? Now that's a step too far. -
ooh yeah! post it up here for critique by the good folks of BassChat!
Just to update those who're following this thread; I quit that band. We were having a rehearsal and in one of the numbers I lost the groove and paused to listen and get back in. I noticed that ALL the bass line was being played by the keys. "Why bother", thinks I. "All they need is to amplify the keys more and I'm redundant". Later in the rehearsal the keys-player/MD was telling the drummer to adjust the beat to hit the right syllable in a vocal line. Excuse me, but that's not right, is it? IMHO the beat is the pulse. It goes on regardless and everything fits round the beat; or so I thought. So the conclusion I came to was these plonkers don't know how music works. Next day or so I got and email asking how I thought the rehearsal went. I replied with my resignation. About 2 months later they're still advertising for a bass player. I'm still looking for a new band, but I'm also working on my technique and building repertoire. Thanks for your interest and advice guys. Rich -

If an amp lacks phones socket, what options do you have?
Grangur replied to Samfordia's topic in Amps and Cabs
If you're looking for a way that you can test out your sound out of the amp for a gig doesn't that need to involve the cabs too? Surely, how the cabs contribute to the sound is also a factor. -
